This hotel is special because it not only has a beautiful setting‚ but also good food and an informal atmosphere. It's hard to imagine a lovelier location than that of the Son Baulo‚ nestled between a nature reserve and a sandy bay and this comfortable hotel is popular with all guests. Please note that the children's facilities are not really geared for teenagers.

We have just returned from the Hotel Son Baulo with 4 adults and 3 Children[14,12 and 5 years]
LOCATION.
Right opposite the beach with Bus Stop just outside the hotel.Fun Bike hire also available at 20 euros an hour for and 8 seater. There is a local market on Fridays just outside the hotel. Can Picafort main town is about 45 min walk along the sea wall. Alcudia is about half an hour by bus which do get packed abit like a cattle truck. Found an excellent English Bar Called 'Anne And Neils'that actually served a proper English cup of Tea and a Free biscuit also served the best Bacon and Sausages of the holiday.
ACCOMODATION.
Twin room and a Family room 5 adjacent room both with sea veiw although the family room was in the corner of the hotel and balcony could not seat more than two people. No T.V but apparently one could be rented from reception. Our room did have a fridge, but we did pre book and pay for it before we left England. All rooms have a safe which we paid about 35 euros for the two weeks.
FOOD.
The desserts were gorgeous, but the dinners left alot to be desired. hardly any potatoes or vegetables, However the hotel did attempt a couple of Roast dinners. The Kids buffet consisted of the same food each night Nuggets, Burgers, Chips and Pasta Spagetti.
COMMUNAL AREAS
Reception,Bar, Toilets etc were all kept very clean and tidy. The Swimming Pool and Terraces areas were also tidy and clean.
HOTEL STAFF.
Were very helpful, friendly and cheerful epsecially the waiters, Manwell and Segas were great and understood and spoke good English.
OUTSIDE ENTERTAINMENT.
Was generally good especially Liam Live, Arnold Guttbucket,Kool and the Gang, However the Parrot Show and Reptile show was rubbish.
THOMSON STAFF.
The reps were rubbish they didnt have a clue you might have thought it was the begining of the season, they did the minidisco dances but appart from that the Kids Club left alot to be desired and didn't seem at all organised.Gill the Head Rep [some might call her] appeared for about 2 hours a day to oversee a game of water polo if it wasn't too cold and when it rained she organised a game of FREE bingo and a quiz for about 2 hours in the bar in the afternoon. Evening entertainment consisted of Minidisco, Bingo, Caberet, Minidisco again and music off by 11.30pm. Gill reminded me of a Working Mans Club host I think maybe this hotel is the place where all the Reps start their training.[Well thats what I would hope]
TRIPS;
Only booked one Thomson Trip to the Marineland which was very expensive for what it entailed however the kids enjoyed the Seal lion show, the Dolphin show could have been better, apparently they had been playing up over the last couple of days. Trip included food vouchers but of course more money had to be added to the vouchers. Hotel arranged Horse Riding which was good for both riders and non riders providing you are confident as the horses do like to trott more than walk at about 20 euros for an hour.
OVERALL.
I wouldn't recommend the Hotel Son Baulo to Families as there is virtually nothing for children to do apart from a games room with one pool table and a T.V, internet, a very small climbing frame, and an outside Table Tennis table.
I would recomend to older couples who like to relax and who like to watch not join in with the evening entertainment.
So Although the hotel was not as expected our holiday was enjoyable even though the weather was not great. Unfortunately we will not be returning to the Hotel Son Baulo.

very nice location situated upon the beach front only a short bus ride from alcudia which is more lively and plenty of shops and bars.unfortunately the kids entertainment was very poor a mini disco for all of 20 minutes which consists of 7 songs and that was it the main problem being [gill]the dj and bingo host who seemed to just be there for herself playing songs she liked instead of thinking about the kids .the reps were very poor my eldest seemed to be much brighter than them and she is 8 hence why didnt trust my kids going to kids club . went to pirate show in magaluf was brill and some of the acts were good. NEED MORE FOR KIDS AND GET RID OF GILL TO MAKE IT A 10 out of 10 would go back if she wasnt there.

We have been for the second time to the hotel Son Bauló, and we can without doubt recommend it for all ages. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean with a superb location, right on the beach, and atonishing views from the balcony rooms. The hotels caters very well for both adults and children, food of a very high standard in quality and variety, including a mini buffet for children favorites, vegetarien dishes, and the best the homemade puddings. Staff is very corteous, friendly and hardworking. All in all the best holidays we have ever had abroad.

This Hotel is so good !

This Hotel is so good !

Although the building is 40 years old this year, you would think it was actually much newer because of the way it has been looked after over the years. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the corridors, hallways, bars, restarants, TV rooms, quiet areas, pool areas were of the same standard.

The Hotel staff were very helpful, probably the best I have come across in 30 years of foreign holidays. Their spoken english was excellent.

We stayed Half board and found the food to be of a very high standard, breakfast and evening meals of every style were available. Lunch time snacks from the Bar areas were very good value for a change. Our kids found the food to their liking as well ( one being a fussy vegetarian ! ). I have to say it again, the food is great, if you stay at the hotel, you are probably going to pile on some pounds !!!

The only downside ( the factor preventing me from giving the hotel 10/10 ) was the poor quality of the Thompson reps. They forgot to book our hire car ( but did sort us out in the end ) and also were less than helpful in assisting my wife in finding the local tennis club, which turned out to be a 10 minute walk up the road. However we don't let this sort of thing spoil our holiday !

On the other hand, the reps seemed to work well in the kids club and disco so it isn't all bad news !

I would agree with other reveiws in that this hotel does not suit older teenagers and noisy groups. And because of that reason it suits families, couples, and people of a quieter nature !

We would return to this hotel if we were going to stay in Majorca again.

Just come back after a late booking . I have to say that the location is beautiful. Right on a wonderful sandy beach of Son Baulo and about 1km outside of Can Picafort. 1 hour by bus from Palma airport. Do not let this put you off - in fact it is a blessing. Beautiful walks at night into Can picafort with many good bars along the way. Ideal for a family with young children. The hotel is excellent one of the best I have been to. The food was a wonderful surprise - excellent and varied. Staff were very pleasant polite and importantly helpful. The entertainment is a bit weak to be honest (hence my mark of 9 instead of a 10)- reminded me of Butlins but it kept my 10 year old merrily happy - we are still singing and doing the actions to the Court of King Carracticus!!! Room was very clean although we were next to the road which could be a bit noisy but on a plus side the balcony allowed some great people watching opportunities !!! We spent most evenings walking into Can Picafort which is a bit busier and reminded me of Margate! However, it was very pleasant walking around. Recommend Alcudia market which you can easily get to by bus (only €1.50). All in all superb. Highly recommended if you want a relaxing holiday with young children - think teenagers may get a bit bored though

What a fantastic holiday I here in the Son Baulo! On arrival I had a problem with my room it was facing the busy road and i could not sleep but after speaking to the Thomson reps i was moved and in a SEA VEIW room it was gorgeous!

Make sure you check out scandals bar hmmmmm very tasty and not too expensive either!

The hotel has a kids club too which was great for me traveling with a family it gave me and my husband some me time

The kids reps were great but my hat goes off to the Thomson reps, we actually got rather friendly with them Melisa and Rebecca they both were fantastic, thanks again ladies for the room change and thank you to Melisa for eveything she did for us.

Quite a few people complained about the beach being full of seaweed??? excuse me but its a beach? isent that what is supposed to be there? some people complain over the stupidest things!

Please dont be put off by the horrible reviews on here! i swear half of these people have not even travelled here!

My family and I have just returned from the Son Baulo in Can Pickafort, and it was great.

The hotel is right on the sandy beach. It has a medium size pool with lots of free sunbeds and parasols, and a small Childrens pool.

The hotel rooms are quite large and cleaned daily and with fresh towels. you can pay extra for a fridge and T.V in your room, but we found that you could easliy watch the T.V either in the adult only quite room or the kids room.

The food was great, a different menu each day. Breakfast started at 7am to 10.15 ( at 10am the staff all came in to have there breakfast.) In the evening there was a spanish dish, a veggie dish and a british dish every day. There was also a kids menu, but you could pick and mix what ever you wanted so they did'nt have to have burgers or chicken nuggets. You could take as much or little as you wanted, some people piled their plates up high and left loads some ate the lot!!! The deserts were fantastic.

There is a kids club but it's really for the young kids, and the kids disco is very repetative every night. We did'nt find anything organised for the 12+. Sometimes the water volley ball was only for adults or canceled. The pool table in the kids room cost 2Euros and internet 1e for 10 mins but go to Stevie boys or Shannagons 2 min walk away 1e pool table or 30 mins internet. And the drinks were cheaper too.

The hotel organise Horse riding for 20e 1 hr ride which was great value and fun and go karting 12e for kids, 18e adults, for both activeitys you are collected and returned to the hotel for free. These can be arranged at the recepion desk with the very nice ladies.

You can also have your washing done too, (5euros) just see the hairdresser.

The only Thompson rep we saw was Stewart, he was great, but the others were never around.

Very good for a family holiday...

Very good for a family holiday as the hotel settles down for the night at a reasonable hour! Two minutes walk to the beach which in our opinion was preferable to the pool which is mostly very deep.

Food is of a good standard and varied with superb puddings!! Staff work very hard to serve you and seem a cheerful bunch.Rooms are perfectly adequate and clean ...we had a room overlooking the nature reserve, therefore quiet with lovely views but I understand that rooms overlooking the road can get some noise.

All in all a quiet hotel which is a good distance away from the more brash parts further along the coast.Guests seemed to be nearly 100% British and all staff have good English!!

This hotel was great for English familys. It is clean and tidy and food is really good.

My child is nine and made some great friends, the pool area was kept clean and plenty of sunbeds as most people like to go to the beach.

There is no TV in the room, but there is a childrens area with a wide screen tele and an adult area where children can not to go, which is great. The rooms are basic, but we did not spend much time in it. (no tea or coffee facilities)

It is about a 20 min walk to the town which is along the beach with plenty of shops and bars.

I would return to the hotel.

We returned from a week at the Son Baulo Hotel in Can Picafort desperate to book for next year - it was that good.

This was a great family holiday as the location was quiet with some local shops and bars but a lovely 15/20 min walk along the front into the main resort. The hotel is not the most modern but that didn't stop it being very clean and plesant. The rooms were basic but we needed nothing more than a bathroom and somewhere to rest our heads at night. We had no TV in our room but we didn't feel the need for it. There is a kids lounge with a tv and pool tables and also an adults only tv room (good for the men watching the footie) and reading/chill out room.

We found all the staff, waiters and thomson reps, very friendly and helpful. There was a kids club which starts at age 3 - one of the reasons we chose the hotel. Although our son would not go to the club this was not for lack of friendliness and encouragment on the staffs part but just down to his shyness and being at the age where he is a bit strange around new people alothough had we been there another week i'm sure he would have went.

The entertainment at night was always good. A mini disco for the kids - I am now an expert at "The Court Of King Karactacus" - then bingo (which trust me was fun) then more entertainment.

As for the food - this has to be the best food I've ever had half board. There was always plenty choice and it was hot. I even ate vegetarian 3 nights because the salad and veggie food were so good. We were going to go out for a meal on our last night but there are not a lot of restaurants in the immediate vacinity and as the food in the hotel was so good we thought why bother.

The hotel is set in a beautiful location, right on the beach which was perfect for us as our 3 year old would spend his life on the beach if he could. But ask him what he liked best and it would have to be the Can Picafor express - a small road train that for 3 euros takes you round the resort - great for amusing the kids.

All in all this was a brilliant holiday even with one moring of rain - but the entertainment rep Gill kept us amused.

The only downside is writing a good review may make it harder to get booked for next year!!!

We visited Son Baulo for our first family holiday with our 2 children (18mnths & 5 yrs). The most disapointing thing about it was the weather which we could do nothing about, just the time of year although many people said they had been at this time of year & it was lovely.

The rooms were clean but i found the lack of storage for clothes a bit of a pain. The rooms were cleaned everyday & there was a fridge in the room but within a cupboard which you had to aquire a key from reception for 2.60 euros a day.

Althought the resort itself was quiet there was enough to keep the kids occupied with it being right on the beach & having a decent pool (although it was absolutley freezing) with 2 small pools for the kids aswel as a toddler play area (which our youngest enjoyed a lot) There is another good park for the kids just a short walk down the road from the hotel which they enjoyed.

The 2 best things about the holiday were the food & the entertainment. There was always plenty of variety of food each night. We ate 4 courses most nights, soup, main meal, dessert & cheese & biscuits. All were constantly topped up, all hot & lots to choose from. Kids buffet was same each night but there was enough choice from the main buffet for them to have a good meal each night. The only gripe we had was that there was loads of choice of drinks at breakfast, tea coffee, juice, water etc but not even a glass of water was available with dinner (these had to be purchased from the staff waiting on in the dining area.)

We had not even thought about the evening entertainment but it was one of the best things about the hotel. There was a mini disco on each night for the kids (same each night but kids seem to enjoy) there was a different entertainer on each night which was advertised on the hotel board so you could make sure you got a good seat. This ranged from performing parrots, reptile show, magicians, dancers, comedians and more..

All very good for adults and children.

There wasnt much in the resort itself with most of the shops selling the same things over agian. This was also true of most of the restaraunts along the resort. We tried a fair few while we were there but found the same things on the menu constantly, although we did have a nice baguette from a little place just past the harbour.

The staff were all very friendly & it was a very enjoyable first family holiday. We met loads of people who visit the Son Baulo each year although I think we will try somewhere else next year it was definatley worth the money.

My family and I love C'an Picafort and travel there 1 or 2 tmes a year. When we first visited Can Picafort we stayed in the main part for the resort. We had a walk to the Son Baulo and the view took our breath away. We have now stayed at Son baulo thee 3 times and have this week booked our next holiday to the hotel. The hotel is spotless, staff very friendly and helpful. I am a vegitarian and so usually struggle but found that the food was excellent. The childrens food bar is also great with a wide choice. Entertainment each night which is also really good and very family orientated. Bar prices are very reasonable compared with other hotels and bars I've visited in resort. The beach itself is beautiful. Nice, quiet and relaxing. Not too many shops in the bay which is good if you are on a budget but there is regular buses which will take you to other near-by resorts and C'an Picafort trantakes you into the main part of resort. I definately (and have many times) recommend the Hotel Son Baulo to anyone wanting a family or peaceful hoiday. My favourite place in the world
