It may not be the trendiest place, but its position and staff makes it unbeatable. There was nothing about the holidays we were unhappy with,we could not have asked for more. The hotel is excellent, and away from the busier part of the resort. The restaurant provided food... more

The hotel is on a lovely sandy beach, there is only on step from the hotel terrace to the beach. We travelled a famiy of 7 including 3 young children, and my parents, we have a very big room interconnected with my parents room, so perfect. We all enjoyed the food and the entertainment. The beach is very safe, the water clean and warm

The Son Baulo - well what can i say, it is absolutely in a beautiful position with the beach a few feet away. We stayed by the patio on sunbeds as the cost of 2 with a parasol woudl be 8.50 Euro per day. The staff at the hotel are brilliant and nothing is too much trouble... more

Fab!!!
Simply fabulous. We finish our holidays today, 29th October and we have been to the beach and into the sea. Very suuny and warm. The hotel is just fantastic, it is closing for the winter season in 2 more days, and we are still having all the facilities. Food superb, the best we have ever had abroad. Impressed with cleaning and service. Stunning views from our balcony, beach at your footstep. Every single person in the hotel nice, polite, efficient, and helpful. Thanks to all of them for making our holidays so enjoyable.
Great 3* Hotel
Spent 2 weeks here in September. We booked it after reading the trip advisor reviews. I have to say it was the cleanest hotel (in a tourist area) I have ever stayed in. The staff are so lovely, very friendly and can't do enough for you. I was there with my husband and baby - who turned one when we out there, and we all thought it was great. The entertainment was good, and the food was very good for a 3*. We have said we would definately go again.
Good 3* hotel in a nice location
We have just returned from a two night stay at the Son Baulo and we found the hotel to be comfortable and in a good location. By we I mean my husband and 10 month old baby. Firstly I must just say that we used this hotel purely as somewhere to sleep, and not as a holiday hotel, as we had come over from Menorca, where we live, to visit some friends who were staying in C'an Picafort. I choose this hotel because of the reviews from Tripadvisor and managed to get a great deal from Active Hotels, £50 a night including breakfast for a suite, consisting of a bedroom, 2 bathrooms and a lounge and some lovely seaviews. I thought this was well worth it as the normal hotel rooms were only £10 cheaper. Having the extra room meant our daughter could sleep soundly in her cot while we were able to enjoy a few drinks with our friends in the lounge without disturbing her! The bed was large and comfortable and the room had a fridge included in the price and a kettle. For those of you wanting TV don't expect lots of English channels, apart from SKY news and shopping channels. It didn't bother us as we never used the tv, but some people like to watch programmes in their rooms.... Our room suite 301, had lovely views out to sea, I would think if you were on the side of the hotel the faces the road it could be quite noisy, so well worth the little extra money for a seaview room. There is a bar, which serves cocktails and drinks, 3e for a double G&T, 6e for a bottle of red...The restaurant, which we only ate breakfast in was large and had lots of choice, wasn't the best breakie I've had but certainly not the worst!! The dining room closes at 9pm though, which I thought was way too early (the first night we arrived at 9.10pm and ended up having to get takeaway pizzas from the restaurant opposite - very nice though and cheap too, "The Flying Dutchman" I think it was called). The people watching the entertainment all seemed to be enjoying it and the Robbie Williams show sounded good from our balcony!! Son Baulo beach was small, but looked lovely. The hotel was a little way from C'an Picafort "center", but there is a resort train that stops outside the hotel. If you are looking for somewhere to eat I would recommend "Sa Cova", ask the ladies on reception for directions. It's just on the coast walk about 5mins from the hotel. The food was excellent and reasonable. On another note C'an Picafort is German city!! Everyone seemed to be German, not that that's a bad thing but I was so surprised when I ordered a drink in Spanish in a restaurant only to be told "I only speak german or a little english"... Having lived in spain for 17 years it's the first time I've not been able to order a drink in the local language!! All in all The Son Baulo is a good 3* hotel. The rooms are a little dated, but you can see they are doing them up bit by bit. My advice would be to pay the extra and get a suite, as it's worth it!
Great Hotel but remote
Had a family holiday in the Son Baulo in September this year ( 2006 ) and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel's amenities were excellent and the staff were extremely helpful. Unfortunately, to experience any typical holiday nightlife, you had to "stroll" about 2 km to the centre of the resort. Yes, the promenade was well maintained and it was an attractive walk, but the novelty wore-off very quickly and it became a serious chore. There were one or two places to drink and eat within walking distance but the concentration of pubs/clubs/restaurants was in the town centre. In fairness, the hotel did put-on entertainment every night, so you didn't have to venture-out if you didn't want to ( and the bar staff alone could keep you entertained ). During the day, at this time of year we didn't have any problems with getting sunbeds though some were in a state of disrepair and it might be time to replace a large proportion of the sunbeds. Come departure-day, we asked to retain the room but it wouldn't have been cost-effective for the short time we could have used it, but the hotel did provide very favourable facilities to allow us to prepare in comfort after a full day's sunbathing. All-in-all very please with the hotel, location was a bit of a down-side, and satisfied with the holiday as a whole.
Perfect
We were at the Son Baul'o for a week, we just left yesterday, and we are already wishing to go back. This is the perfect place for our family, a young couple with small kids and grandad. Food is very good, staff very professional, friendly and kind. The hotel is confortable, nice and very clean. Beach on your footstep, marvellous views. Place in general relaxings with a lot to do in a short distance.
Sand between my toes
Have just come back from two weeks here, and it was just what I needed. A chill time. I have been here before, but I knew that if I came back here it would quiet, or as busy as I wanted it to be, and safe for someone to wander about. All the staff work hard, and many of them I recognised from before, and there was some new ones. Its a great location for the beach, or you could wander leisurely up the sea front to Ca'n Picafort and stay there for the day. Or you could use it as a base to see the rest of the island or to do whatever you wanted to do. I met a lot of people who have stayed there before, and will be back again, and they say its almost like an extension to the family, meeting again the people who work there, especially the waiters who you see most of, and finding out how they are doing, and enjoying the location of the hotel and the scenery. Will I go back and get some more sand between my toes? Yes, I can't wait!
great holiday
Hotel son baulo is fantastic. The waiters were great.Pedro and Manuel were cute too!! The food was absouloutly delicious. The beach and pool area were fantastic.Me and my family had a wonderful time.
We all loved Son Baulo and have booked to go back
This hotel is fantastic !!!! I took my four sons aged 18, 9,8 & 7 and they all had an amazing holiday. They could not decide which was better Florida or Son Baulo! We haved booked to go back next year after only being home two days. I have been to this hotel as a child and have some fantastic memories, some of the waiters even recognised me after 15 years. They was so much for the children to do, the Kidzone reps (Mike, Suzanne, Karin & Kelly) were really good with the children, they all went above and beyond. The Thompson reps were really helpful and the hotel staff were brilliant. It was clean, food was great always something to please even the fussiest eaters (I have some of those!). A big mention about the hotel entertainers they were such fun, it is worth going to this hotel just to meet CARLENE (you will hear her before you see her) she was really good with our kids and this is my way of saying thank you for an amazing holiday with lots of good memories. VISIT THIS HOTEL AND HAVE A GREAT FAMILY HOLIDAY.
Son Baulo...perfect!
We have just returned from the Son Baulo after a weeks holiday. (more the pity we didn't have 2 weeks!) I was very impressed with the hotel and it's surroundings. It is not far outside C'an Picafort with all it's lively bars and restaurants, which is a very pleasant 20 min walk along the promenade. The Hotel is situated directly on the beach, which is a lovely sheltered bay with lovely sand and clear water. Next to the hotel is a nature reserve, so your not overlooked or overpowered by a neighbouring hotel or other buildings. The hotel itself is very clean, the staff are very friendly and efficient, the food is very good, the rooms are spacious, the entertainment is excellent for children ( It was a hard job tearing my 9yr old daughter away from the hotel, night and day!) the pool area i think was lovely, some reviews note that the pool wasn't very big, but it's not that small either. There were plenty of sunbeds around the pool, and lots more on the terrace if you didn't want to be amongst the hustle and bustle of the pool.....also they don't tollerate early morning towels on the beds!!!!! yay! My daughter had a whale of a time here, she made lots of friends, all the entertainers get to know the children, the waiters love the kids, all in all, a very friendly laid back hotel, which i would definately go back to!
We love C'an Picafort
We found the resort had all the amenities we required for our holiday. The Hotel itself was of an excellent standard with regards to the accomodation and catering it provided, and the members of staff were curteous and helpfull at all times. The Hotel provided entertainment for all ages every evening, and during the day a kid's club was available to cater for the needs of the younger holiday maker. The local bars and restaurants provided a very good service with varied menus and entertainment. Transport links to the local town were frequent and reliable. All in all for the discerning traveller who deamands universally high standards both the Hotel and the resort met all the criteria.
