This hotel was great for English...
10 / 10
Jul 2008, Mrs L J Dixon

This hotel was great for English familys. It is clean and tidy and food is really good.
My child is nine and made some great friends, the pool area was kept clean and plenty of sunbeds as most people like to go to the beach.
There is no TV in the room, but there is a childrens area with a wide screen tele and an adult area where children can not to go, which is great. The rooms are basic, but we did not spend much time in it. (no tea or coffee facilities)
It is about a 20 min walk to the town which is along the beach with plenty of shops and bars.
I would return to the hotel.

We returned from a week at the Son...
10 / 10
Jun 2008, Miss L Campbell

We returned from a week at the Son Baulo Hotel in Can Picafort desperate to book for next year - it was that good.
This was a great family holiday as the location was quiet with some local shops and bars but a lovely 15/20 min walk along the front into the main resort. The hotel is not the most modern but that didn't stop it being very clean and plesant. The rooms were basic but we needed nothing more than a bathroom and somewhere to rest our heads at night. We had no TV in our room but we didn't feel the need for it. There is a kids lounge with a tv and pool tables and also an adults only tv room (good for the men watching the footie) and reading/chill out room.
We found all the staff, waiters and thomson reps, very friendly and helpful. There was a kids club which starts at age 3 - one of the reasons we chose the hotel. Although our son would not go to the club this was not for lack of friendliness and encouragment on the staffs part but just down to his shyness and being at the age where he is a bit strange around new people alothough had we been there another week i'm sure he would have went.
The entertainment at night was always good. A mini disco for the kids - I am now an expert at "The Court Of King Karactacus" - then bingo (which trust me was fun) then more entertainment.
As for the food - this has to be the best food I've ever had half board. There was always plenty choice and it was hot. I even ate vegetarian 3 nights because the salad and veggie food were so good. We were going to go out for a meal on our last night but there are not a lot of restaurants in the immediate vacinity and as the food in the hotel was so good we thought why bother.
The hotel is set in a beautiful location, right on the beach which was perfect for us as our 3 year old would spend his life on the beach if he could. But ask him what he liked best and it would have to be the Can Picafor express - a small road train that for 3 euros takes you round the resort - great for amusing the kids.
All in all this was a brilliant holiday even with one moring of rain - but the entertainment rep Gill kept us amused.
The only downside is writing a good review may make it harder to get booked for next year!!!

We visited Son Baulo for our first...
9 / 10
Jun 2008, Mrs K Mansell

We visited Son Baulo for our first family holiday with our 2 children (18mnths & 5 yrs). The most disapointing thing about it was the weather which we could do nothing about, just the time of year although many people said they had been at this time of year & it was lovely.
The rooms were clean but i found the lack of storage for clothes a bit of a pain. The rooms were cleaned everyday & there was a fridge in the room but within a cupboard which you had to aquire a key from reception for 2.60 euros a day.
Althought the resort itself was quiet there was enough to keep the kids occupied with it being right on the beach & having a decent pool (although it was absolutley freezing) with 2 small pools for the kids aswel as a toddler play area (which our youngest enjoyed a lot) There is another good park for the kids just a short walk down the road from the hotel which they enjoyed.
The 2 best things about the holiday were the food & the entertainment. There was always plenty of variety of food each night. We ate 4 courses most nights, soup, main meal, dessert & cheese & biscuits. All were constantly topped up, all hot & lots to choose from. Kids buffet was same each night but there was enough choice from the main buffet for them to have a good meal each night. The only gripe we had was that there was loads of choice of drinks at breakfast, tea coffee, juice, water etc but not even a glass of water was available with dinner (these had to be purchased from the staff waiting on in the dining area.)
We had not even thought about the evening entertainment but it was one of the best things about the hotel. There was a mini disco on each night for the kids (same each night but kids seem to enjoy) there was a different entertainer on each night which was advertised on the hotel board so you could make sure you got a good seat. This ranged from performing parrots, reptile show, magicians, dancers, comedians and more..
All very good for adults and children.
There wasnt much in the resort itself with most of the shops selling the same things over agian. This was also true of most of the restaraunts along the resort. We tried a fair few while we were there but found the same things on the menu constantly, although we did have a nice baguette from a little place just past the harbour.
The staff were all very friendly & it was a very enjoyable first family holiday. We met loads of people who visit the Son Baulo each year although I think we will try somewhere else next year it was definatley worth the money.

My family and I love C'an Picafort...

Apr 2008, Miss K Burrow

My family and I love C'an Picafort and travel there 1 or 2 tmes a year. When we first visited Can Picafort we stayed in the main part for the resort. We had a walk to the Son Baulo and the view took our breath away. We have now stayed at Son baulo thee 3 times and have this week booked our next holiday to the hotel. The hotel is spotless, staff very friendly and helpful. I am a vegitarian and so usually struggle but found that the food was excellent. The childrens food bar is also great with a wide choice. Entertainment each night which is also really good and very family orientated. Bar prices are very reasonable compared with other hotels and bars I've visited in resort. The beach itself is beautiful. Nice, quiet and relaxing. Not too many shops in the bay which is good if you are on a budget but there is regular buses which will take you to other near-by resorts and C'an Picafort trantakes you into the main part of resort. I definately (and have many times) recommend the Hotel Son Baulo to anyone wanting a family or peaceful hoiday. My favourite place in the world

Mar 2008, Miss C Leo

I went to this hotel with a group of 6 girls, aged 17 and 18 looking very much for a holiday of relaxtion during the day, and a livlier scene during the night.
When the plane landed, getting lugage and finding the coach was very easy. The transfer to the hotel was ok. The tour operator made a number of remarks about our group though. Checking in was very easy and finding rooms wasnt a problem.
We requested rooms next to each other, however, they ended up been at seperate ends of the corridoor, luckily on the same floor so no complaints can be made there. Our group had two rooms. One was more well equipped than the other, ours had two single beds and a double bed, along with a television and phone, whereas the others had 3 single beds and that was about it! The rooms were cleaned every day and the hotel was spotless.
There was a wide variety of food, always hot and fresh. If the food wasn't to our taste, the childrens menu was fine. It consisted of chips, pizza, spag bol and chicken nuggets every night. We made it down to breakfast once during our weeks stay and from the impression we got on that day, it seemed good. The waitors were extremely pleasant... i think we were the first group of young girls this hotel had ever seen so they were very attentive towards us, espically nacho (right looker!!), Zhigas and Jesus. 10/10 for there service.
On the first night of our holiday, we recieved a written warning for playing music round by the pool. We used ipod speakers which dont exactly go loud but there we go!
The nightlife was a good 20 minute walk away, not good in heels so we got taxis everywhere. Due to it been the time of year, there was a lack of english. The clubs were full of the locals and young holiday reps from our hotel and the hotels around the resort. There was a choice of small underground clubs, we stuck to Charlies and Skau. The Red Lion was a highlight of our holiday. It was run by english people and it hosted karaoke and tribute bands. Drinks were priced well and spirit measures were extremely generous. We ventured to Alcudia a few times and Magaluf for 2 days to escape C'an Picafort.
Although the hotels standard was excellent, they do not take well to young people. This hotel is family orientated at a push, mainly elderly. We often felt we were disregarded and frowned upon when leaving the hotel at 10 o clock at night when the other residents were going to bed.
All in all, we wouldnt return to C'an Picafort again.

Excellent value for money. We had much more than expected. The best the location, on the beach with everything close at hand but at the same time at the quiet(and best end) of Can Picafor, next to the Natural Park. Food fantastic, quality, variation, taste, always hot and restaurant very clean. Staff very professional, nice, they all seem to enjoy working at this hotel. Entertainment something for every one, and this is quite difficult in a family hotel where one has to cater from toddlers to grandanparents. We recommend this hotel to every one. Very reasonable price.

10/10 - For the food and hotel...

Oct 2007, Mr S O'Dwyer

10/10 - For the food and hotel overall. 3/10 - For the Thomson reps. They were so nasty it was unbearable and we came home early.
Anyway the hotel is beautiful, lacks on facilities abit but besides that it’s a great hotel. Its right on the beach which is nice and we also paid for sea view (recommended if you don't want a view of the road). Other reviews say the food was awful. Well I must have been eating some thing different because the food was the best about it. Always different types of food on the menu, all nice and hot as well. The waiters are brilliant too, they run around like there’s a fire just to make sure everyone is happy.
There are also other restaurants around the area; if you walk along the sea you will also find a harbour which is nice. The restaurants are also there too.
Overall I would give the hotel a brilliant 10/10!

Family of four with two young...

Sep 2007, Miss G Blakemore

Family of four with two young children - rooms basic but clean - ask for a room overlooking the beach as we were at the back of the hotel overlooking the road and a noisy bar!
Beach was dirty and couldn't swim due to the sea weed being so bad, but there are nice beaches a short drive away.
Weather was pretty bad too but I guess thats the risk you take travelling out of season, little to do when the weather is bad unless you hire a car or go on an excursion!
Food ok but not very traditional.
Staff exceptional especially with the children.
Would go again but wouldn’t rush back.

Absolutely fab hotel, kids reps were fantastic and the hotel staff were great.
We booked to go on some trips and the Thomson reps were brilliant they were always around to help us with any questions we had and are really know there stuff!
The hotel is in the ideal location not to far from the centre yet far enough to get a peaceful nights sleep!
Probably the best holiday ever for family's and adults. Special thanks to Jill, Lee, Mellisa, Becky and Miguel you lot are fantastic I will be seeing you next year definitely.
Wish I was back there with you in the sun, but its back to work for me! ha ha ha

My partner and I have only just...

Sep 2007, Mrs A Joyce

My partner and I have only just arrived home from two weeks at Son Baulo Hotel and we thought this hotel was great.
The buffet food was of the highest quality that we have ever experienced before, it was always hot, and the choice was excellent, in the two weeks that we spent there, they never once had the same meal twice, the restaurant was run like a tight ship and it worked very well.
The rooms were cleaned every day and we had clean sheets and towels on a daily basis, the bar staff worked very hard as did every member of staff in the hotel, we would highly recommend this hotel, the Thomson reps were always around to talk to and sort out day trips etc...
It was the only hotel which we have been too that provided plastic coloured plates, knives and forks for the children.
The evening entertainment was second to none, it was very good, as was everything about this hotel, and it was simply great.

Excellent hotel, friendly staff, good...

Sep 2007, Spike303

Excellent hotel, friendly staff, good food, and entertainment. Situated next to a nature reserve with its own beach and a wildlife filled pond (More like a mini Lake).
Ideal for families. C'an Picafort was a lovely resort with lots to do from cycling along the sea front to relaxing on the long sandy beaches.
It also has excellent street market on Thursdays where bartering is the name of the game. It had no end of shops and restaurants spanning the seafront and a little harbour which is very picturesque at sunset.
At night there are a number of lively bars that open till around 4am all run by friendly staff giving away free drinks, I would suggest you visit Shananigans if you’re in area.
Overall and excellent holiday. Would recommend to all.
