Beautiful pool and beach area by caryh

The resort, pool and beach area were fantastic. The room was spacious, the service was great and the breakfast (included in the room rate) was huge with lots of variety. We had a lovely weekend!

Good, but not top notch by ChrisnBolton_England

Stayed for 8 nights from 20th June 08, via Hayes & Jarvis.

Cannot fault the service, food or friendliness of the staff.

Rooms good, large and well kept. Good value given the cheap package offered by H & G.

Deals available with the hotel as well . All inclusive is a good deal but has many restrictions.

Hotel quiet during the week, as detailed by many other reviewers.

Based on the previous reviews we got largely what we expected,

very quite, do nothing beachside holiday.

We found that there was still small amounts of remedial work going on around the resort, but not intrusive.

Unfortunately for us we visited at the hottest time of year, (gets up to 50 degrees in July / August), and when the water cooling system for the bathrooms and outdoor swimming pool had blown up.

Apparently this has been out of action for weeks. Thank god for the indoor pool, which had it's own cooling system.

The quality of construction finish around the resort let the 5 star status down a little, but talking to the staff everything had improving greatly fsince last novembers opening.

Excellent 5* Resort with superb facilities by LondonY2K
10 / 10

We stayed at the Miramar during the last week of June and had a very pleasant stay.

Superb beach with clear waters excellent for swimming and a great beach bar (Ramesh and Liza were great). The swimming pool itself was huge with great staff...

The still looks brand new and has only been open less than a year. There are some very nice restaraunts that obviously come at a price. But head to Khor Fakaan, Dibba & City of Fujairah for cheaper meals if budget is an issue.

The hotel hasa superb gym with a very good personal trainer known as Parsad. The massage there was also great, recommend Asma, she gave a very good swedish massage.

Rooms are huge and as we went to celebrate my mum's birthday, we were upgraded to sea view which was very nice of the hotel. The hotel also arranged a cake for the room as we arrived and on the day of the birthday organised a special cake in one of the restaraunts which was superb.. This is what you call true 5* service. Thanks to Annika in Guest Relations for arranging this.

The hotel has been built around the Arabian Nights theme and therefore is not your typical tower hotel like the Le Meridian next door.. To be honest, noticing the construction work at the Le Meridien and the sheer typical style of the hotel, i am very glad i chose the Iberotel Miramar..

The hotel offers a shuttle bus service to Dubai for a day trip and an evening to the City of Fujairah. Again, added bonus.

The staff at this hotel deserve full appreciation as they provide 5* services which you do not see at many hotels these days.

Fujairah generally is lovely and is 90% mountainous so you get very nice scenery. It can get very hot so do recommend sun tan lotions etc... However the heat is lovely and this is not a downer at all...

Thursday evening - Saturday can be very busy as this is weekend in the UAE ... Usually locals from Dubai and other parts who come to relax - what a life :)

We loved this hotel and will definitely visit again.

Friendly staff and great service by gazmerr
10 / 10

After reading all the reviews, we went there and had in fact a nice time.I think, the initial teething problems are over now.We were there in 2nd week of june and were overwhelmed by the courtious nature of the staff..very friendly and professional.

the food at majlis was great.

We actually checked in without going to the reception. We were made to sit in the moroccan themed lobby and offered a welcome drink , aftera hectic 5 hrs drive from abudhabi, with wet towels to freshen...while we hada staff to check in for us.

we were escrted well to our room, about 100 metres from the reception.we were guided very well.....

the recreation facilities were good too. the Children recreation area, called jay jay was great. the lady there, called miss joy was very nice and loving..my kid is already her fan.

the only negative point is that the airconditioning in the room wasnt upto the mark...

more or less, the place is great and if u want a quite, pleasant stay, thats the place, overlooking the ocean.

Perfect beach hotel by Anderoby1
8 / 10

I stayed here last week for 2 nights after a hectic week in Dubai on business. The hotel offered everything I needed, which was to relax in a quiet location with a nice pool and beach.

The Miramar has both. The hotel was busy over the Friday and Saturday, mainly with people over from Dubai for the weekend, however Sunday was very quiet. There was never a problem getting a sunbed and the waiters were regularly coming around the pool serving drinks and snacks.

The rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. The hotel also features a well equipped gym, indoor pool, sauna, steam room and jaquzzi.

The breakfast was very good, as was the food which I sampled in the Asian restaurant and the pool side snackbar.

To sum up - perfect retreat.

Unwind in style by absolutmark
8 / 10

You can forget much of what has already been written about this resort - because it is fantastic.

My wife and I were lucky enough to visit the Miramar for seven days at the end of February.

By that time the problems identified by earlier posters had been sorted.

We had read the earlier messages but, like most things, we agreed to judge on what we found. And what we did find was an elegantly sophisticated hotel.

Set against the stark beauty of the Haaji mountains, the resort is stylish without being stuffy, its design tasteful and sympathetic to the surroundings and, as such, avoids the ‘Spanish package holiday’ feel of its neighbour.

The rooms are stunning and spacious. Ours overlooked the beach and we awoke each day with the rising sun streaming through the window.

It appears as though a great deal of thought has gone into each and every detail, right down to the toiletries in the bathroom (it’s a girl thing, my wife said).

When it came to meals, right from room service to the more expensive al la carte restaurants, we didn’t have a bad dish.

The buffet-style main restaurant was fine but it would be a shame for those on A/I packages if they did not try the Mammone Italian and Sensasia (Asian) restaurants.

The food in both places was exquisite and the chefs deserve special recognition for the new twists they have put on their dishes and I can’t recommend highly enough.

Likewise, I can’t speak highly enough of the staff. Polite, friendly and engaging, they couldn’t do enough to help.

Within hours they had memorised our names and greeted us warmly each time we passed. Their recommendations were superb and they worked hard to ensure we had a good time. I’d like to name-check them individually but fear I would run out of space.

In short, the personal 5-star service we received was the best of any 5-star resort.

Location wise, the resort is perfectly located on the gorgeous Al Aqua Beach. A private area is set aside for the resort for those who like the sand between their toes or you can rest by the pool a few steps away.

There is plenty of room in both areas which are set up to cater well for those who want shade and those who want sun.

I spent a chunk of my time each day scuba diving but there is little else to do in the immediate area (although the resort does run tips to Dubai and elsewhere).

This might be a problem for those who need to be on the go all of the time but we found the resort a great place to relax and unwind from the stresses and strains of busy jobs.

Great hotel, but still under construction!! by Trui
6 / 10

We stayed in the hotel for only one night. It was enough for us.

It is indeed a new hotel and they are still working on it. When we arrived we had to listen to the fire-alarm for 4 hours!!

There were some problems with the alarm and while repairing it they had to test it every 5 minutes!! So we ran to the beach. You can see that the site next to the hotel is going to be a building site in a short time!! Such a pity. The food was very good in the Asian restaurant.

The staff was very friendly, the rooms great. No problem with that.

Great hotel for families, we would get bored if we stayed longer. The country has more to offer than just your hotel.

Would definitely visit again by ummcolin

We live in Dubai and visited this hotel for a 2 night weekend getaway. By the time we arrived some of the kinks described by the previous reviewer had obviously been ironed out, as we had no power or water problems. The hotel is obviously brand new - a few finishing details still need to be taken care of in the buildings and the landscaping looks a bit stark, but that will soon be taken care of, I'm sure.

The rooms were excellent in my opinion. Good quality, lots of storage, very nice bathroom. Housekeeping promptly brought any extra supplies we requested. Initially our room did not lock, but that was attended to within a few hours and our valuables were secure in the room safe in the meantime.

We ate in all 3 restaurants. The Asian (Chinese/Thai) was excellent and I would highly recommend. The Italian (poolside, casual) was also very good. The main restaurant was buffet style and although good enough, was nothing special. I would not recommend a meal plan which required you to eat only in the main restaurant.

The hotel is built in a giant U shape around the pool area. Lots of sunbeds and sunshades. The beach is divided into a private area (close to the hotel) with sunbeds and sunshades and then a public strip along the waters edge. This applies to all the hotels on this strip, so you can walk the entire length of the beach in front of all the hotels, which is very nice. Interesting rock pools when the tide is out and on both mornings we watched the local fishermen landing their nets on the vacant beach next door.

At present there are 3 hotels along this stretch of beach - the Meridien, Rotana and Miramar, but obviously more are going to be built very soon. So like all of the UAE right now, expect some disruption due to adjoining construction.

There is very little for the tourist to do in this part of the UAE, so I would suggest a visit of a few days, max one week. If you are coming from overseas, perhaps combine with some time in Dubai, as the two places are a huge contrast. Definitely spend some time in the mountains while visiting Fujairah as they are starkly beautiful.

We found a very diverse mixture of tourists while there - Europeans of various nationalities, Russians, Arabs. I would say this hotel would appeal to families with very small children, who are looking for a quiet beach vacation, but not for those with older kids who want more activities.

In general we were very happy with our stay. Compared with 5* hotels in Dubai, the Miramar falls short of their super luxury standard, but is still a very nice hotel and good value. I would definitely return or recommend.

stay at the le meridien next door by miloNewcastel
4 / 10

Having stayed in Dubai previously we decided to try somewhere a bit less noise , no constuction. We contacted our usual travel source and requested info on somewhere in the UAE,beach/quiet/. "OH ive got just the place for you its brand new, only been opened a couple of weeks. 5 star blah blah blah.

On arrival at the airport we were met by a nice chap called ali, took us to a private car, iced water/cold flannels to refresh us.stopped off after 20 mins to buy us take away coffee. This was looking good. On arrival at the hotel at 10 am after a scenic two hour drive,we were checked in, outside on the terrace.first impressions . looking good. Then we were told "sorry but we have no electricity, should be on in an hour or so". 16 hrs in total travelling time, overnight flight. 86 degrees and no air con.On being shown to our room it looked very nice, not grand habtoor, but getting there.couldn't have a shower as we couldn't see a bat.( eventually got elec at 5pm) Now we had upgraded to a "Deluxe ocean view room" when we looked out of our balcony the penny started to drop. Yep we had dropped a huge bollock in comming here.( see pics)

The best way to continue with this review is to go along the lines of pluses and minuses. so we will start with the plus side.

Location. very nice on first impressions. set right on the gulf of oman against a background of the majestic Haaji mountains. very very quiet.

Staff. The waiting staff are predominatley Phillipino, and can't do enough for you especiall Myra and Jeffrey they made our stay tollerable.

Food. we were on an all inclusive which is fairly new concept in the UAE. very good choice/selection.but alcohol limited to cans of carlsberg, plus a special A/I menu for cocktails and spirits.

Hotel. had only been open 5 weeks when we got there so obviously all very new,and clean

Now the negative.

We did appreciate that this was a new hotel, and so would encounter some teething problems, eg the electric was off twice during our 5nght stay, but what really bugged us was that there was no hot water for the shower during our entire stay and when reported to the reception staff on a number of occasions all we were greeted with was a nice smile, a nod, and a broken " yes sir ,room **** ". one night we had no water at all . toilet, bath shower etc.One half of the hotel isn't finished yet so they still have a lot of workers on site during the day hammering drilling etc ( nothing compared to jumeirah marina ). but these workers were accomodated in huts on the beach outside our balcony ( see pics) it was not uncommon for us to look out and see them having a pee, or even worse having a s*** !

The hotel is not going to be aimed at the english market. this was apparent by the number of russian/ german guests, plus tour op parties on freebees we encountered during our stay. In addition to this the majority of mags, and local info handouts are in these two languages. and yes we did encounter the obvious negatives of the two cultures, rude, bad manered, loud, all the usuals we have come to love ( or is it loathe ) about them.

This place is plagued by flies, so much so that during meal times a member of staff is tasked with the un enviable job of trying to keep the sods off the exposed buffet with a towel.I know it's not the hotels problem as some reviews from nearby resorts report the same, it must just be the area.I know we never encountered this in Dubai , but it does mean you cant eat outdoors.

The City of Fujairah is about one hour away, and the hotel provide a free bus there twice a week. They drop you of at the Tower shopping Mall and pick you up 3 hrs later, which is really two and a half hrs to much. The mall ( and only mall in Fujairah)comprises of about 15 shops, and a small food court. The rest of the city is not a shop friendly city, plus we did not see one other european person there (apart from the other six on the same bus.)

The overall view of the reception staff is one of incompetance, this was highlighted on our last night. In order to make our flight from dubai we had to be up at 3,15am to check out and make the two hour drive to the airport. I called reception and placed a request for a wake up call. Lucky for us my wife needed to use the toilet at 3am and so just made a start. The wake up call never came. when I pulled the staff about this at check out all i got was the usual feeble apology followed by the stupid smile.

Thank god we had only booked 5 nghts.

Overall I think we just got there to soon after opening, hopefully things will improve with time but certainly if you are planning a trip to this emerate then you would be best advised to use the Meridien next door which recieves nothing but good reviews.I now this is the first review for this hotel ( from speaking to the waiting staff who do speak good english , we are the first brits to use it ??) but if anyone does give it a go then i'd be interested in their feedback.

Will we go back? of course we will we love the UAE, but we will stick to what we know Dubai, or may even try Oman.
