Frequent visitor to the Isle of Wight, but never stayed at this hotel before. Don't be put off by its 2 star status it's on a par with most of the better hotels on the island. Although booked on B&B basis we had Sunday lunch and 2 evening meals in the restuarant - which is outstanding. The food, presentation and service is of a much higher standard than anything to be found in and around Southampton and as good as The Royal in Ventnor and better than The Seaview and Priory.
The hotel is subject to an on-going refurbishment and originally being part of the Osborne estate is full of history, having been the home of Princess Beatrice. Our room was large, comfortable and appropriately furnished (good 4 star standard) with a large bathroom with both bath and shower (which was the best I've ever experienced in a hotel in the UK).
The staff are friendly, polite and actually speak English - nothing is too much trouble.
Being an island nothing is more than a short drive or bus ride - couldn't be better.
