In an area that has many overpriced hotels the Volunteer offers clean, comfortable rooms at a great price. Don't expect luxury fittings and furnishings but the bed was comfortable, everything worked and there was a really good shower. Chipping Campden is a delightful location and the pub and its host are most welcoming. Real ales are available and an open fire adds to the atmosphere. We stayed at The Volunteer while attending a wedding in the area. The whole experience far exceeded our expectations, the room was great as were the friendly and helpful staff. For the price of the room I wasn't expecting much but was blown away by the value for money especially as the Cotswolds are notorious for high prices. The breakfast was also really good, much more selection than many other places I've stayed in when paying much more for the privilege! Excellent location in beautiful Chipping Campden, perfect for walking in the Cotswolds. Extremely friendly and efficient service from owner and staff. Made to feel very welcome over our New Years Eve stay. One of our party had a superior room downstairs facing the garden - seemed to have had much more recent refurbishment - would recommend requesting this one if you can. Other rooms clean and tidy - but temperature could be dodgy in the showers. If staying would highly recommend visit to Badger Hall tea shop on the high street.

A very pleasant 16 km walk from Stanton via Broadway took us here on the second to last leg of a weeklong walking tour of the Cotswolds. As with other accommodations on the route, this inn was right where the walking trail entered the town. Our room was a very spacious double overlooking the small courtyard of the inn. From our window we could see the entrance to the pub which was connected to the lounge where full meals were served.
