Blue Beach Hotel

Ladies, you too can travel to Mexico alone! I did (August, 2004) and had a great time. Blue Beach hotel was one of the reasons why. I purposely chose it because I had no desire to be at a huge, expensive, US-transplanted-to-Mexico hotel, and I chose Playa instead of Cancun for that same reason. We stayed here last year and loved it! It's not for you if you are looking for a fancy resort with room service and things like that, but if you love the Caribbean, Mexico and the Mexican people, this place can't be beat for the price and location. We were only supposed to stay for two nights and then travel back to Cancun, where we have gone for the last ten years, but we asked the hotel if we could keep our room for the whole week once we got there and thankfully, they had enough rooms. Our family of five stayed in the beachside villa over Christmas week. What an increidible value! Tons of room, private yard, directly on the beach, easy walk to town. The place was very clean with daily maid service. Not luxurious in terms of things like plush towels, fancy soaps, etc. but wonderfully so in terms of space and privacy! The people were very friendly. If you are a stickler for tons of high pressure hot water, this might not make the grade. We loved Blue Beach!! Our jr. suite was spotlessly clean. The location is terrific. Yes there was a bit of rust on the frig racks. big deal. The bed was comfy, very large lanai, excellent air conditioners. Most buildings located on the ocean have a bit of musty smell but you soon get used to it. We will be returning for sure!!

the photos of the rooms here are totally NOT what they look like, my room needed a coat of fresh paint , a strong mildew smell . no view except of a dirt road with consruction across the street. Unhelpful desk person when I complained of the room not being up to par. You cannot swim in the ocean right in front of the so so beach as it is full of fishing boats. In all total false info of what looked like a great hotel hope this prevents anyone making the same mistake I did . By the way I did end up going to another hotel !

My friends and I stayed at the Blue Beach Hotel in July of 2004. I would by far recommend a small hotel over one of the large hotels because I think you get to experience more of the culture. We had a two bedroom suite with a kitchenette. Very roomy and clean. We had emailed ahead of time to make sure there would be a coffee maker but when we arrived, there wasn't one. 10:30 AM check-in! Better than the photos on the web! Sit in your 2-Br suite and watch the Caribbean (and all the sun worshippers). Perfect location under lots of shade trees and palms. The maids even wash your dishes. 24 hour on-site security. My stay was just perfect, and provided me one of the best bargains on the Mayan Riviera.

Stayed 6 nights in Blue Beach hotel in one of the beach bungalows under a palapa roof. You cannot beat walking out of your room right unto the beach and the view is amazing. The balcony with the hamac is also very cool for afternoon siestas or drinks. There are not many hotels right on the beach in that part of playa so this is not a bad bet in off season and this corner of the beach I think is the best. Pretty quiet and away from the bars. the beach front bungalows are exactly what the doctor ordered .. peaceful .. right on the beach .. if you want posh amenities forget this place .. bout if you need a break from the phone and noise there is no better place in playa. Jose the manager and his staff were wonderful and the hammocks are better than any other.

The beach front bungalows @ this hotel open onto the white sand beach. They are right next door to it's much pricier neighbor, The Blue Parrot. The rooms are clean with colorful Mexican decor. The bathrooms could use some repair and updating, but are adequate. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. The location is great, just a short walk to the popular 5th Avenue. We make the Blue Beach a yearly event on our visit to the Yucatan.
