MS Fleurette Reviews
" MS Fleurette and Luxor "
Submitted By: jeanypWe spent the second week in the Mercure Hotel in Luxor, we could not have made a better choice. This hotel is on the Nile promenade, a perfect location. We enjoyed our breakfast overlooking the Nile, and the Valley of the Kings. The pool is ideal, the perfect depth for anyone not that confident. Again the food was great, lots of choice, friendly staff.
Thank you African Safari Club for the holiday of a lifetime.
Advice: A Nile Cruise is something everyone should do. We would highly recommend this holiday.
Activities: Don't miss out on Cairo, worth every penny. Strolling along the Nile promenade in Luxor is amazing.

" don't stay on the flurette "
Submitted By: andymasseyWe had booked a 7 night cruise down the nile in which was advertised by our agent as a 5 star boat but after the week went on we quickly realised this was definately not the case! The ship is extremely dated and in much need of vast amounts of repair or just put on the scrap heap, the cabins are small and in a bad state.... plugs and light switches hanging off the wall, loose ceiling panels, mould around the windows, metal strips sticking out of the floor, a fridge door that just wouldnt stay on, a filthy toilet bush and a plug that wouldnt go down! The list just goes on and on! There was a couple next door to us with the same problems but on top of that they had a wall panel fall on them and a cabin door with a 3inch gap top and bottom. There was a female guest aboard when taking shower the ceiling panel feel on her!
The first 2 days were spent on the river bank at Luxor, then started the cruise the following day, we only had 4 days actually cruising but it would only be about 5-7 hours a day. not exactly the 7 day cruise we was expecting!
Meal times were interesting to say the least, some meals wern't too bad but the portions were extremely small. For the buffet meals the food lables really served no use. The large tray containing "meat" could of been anything, same as the "vegetables" tray, both were very bland with no taste! Along with most food dished up coming to think of it! Between courses there would always be a long wait before the next dish would arrive and we just found ourselves in conversation everynight with other guests complaining about their experience. Luckily enough we are not vegetarians as their meals consisted every day of a plate of rice and potato's with some sort of vegetable mush in a bowl! not exactly 5* cuisine.
There are so many bad points towards this boat but i must say the trips with our guide Abou were fantastic! He was a fountain of knowledge and always made the day interesting for the hole group. If it wasn't for him snd some of the grate staff we would of got off the ship and came home within the first couple of days! The trips did tend to start EARLY in the morning but it was for the best, walking around temples in a 35 degree heat would not be nice! Beware though, all the trips are extra ontop of the original price but are not that expensive. All the trips are well worth the time and money!!
And as for money..... you'l need alot on the boat for drinks as they're expensive! 5* prices on a 3* boat, and they're not very nice. The local beer at nearly £4 a can was always warm and the water at £1.50 a bottle was out of date. the wine was around £13 or £14 a bottle, and that was just local egyptian wine, not that bad but definately not worth the price. The price list was a shock but to make it worse they then add 10% tax on top!
This is just a small snipet of our experiance on the flurette. don't get me wrong, a cruise down the nile would be and is fantastic, just not on the ms flurette!!!
Advice: cruising the nile is fantastic for the site seeing and relaxation

" not 5 star accomodation "
Submitted By: jobabeWe were not told about the additional tips required at the beginning of the cruise at £15 per person for the staff on the boat and also expected tip at the end for the tour guide of £1.50 per person per day (additional £21.00) altogether £50 out of your spending money for 2 people. The waiters ansd cleaning staff also expected tips daily too. I feel that this should be at the holidaymakers discretion or goodwill.
Please note this is not a negative review about the boat it was a lovely experience but I feel the boat is definitely falsely graded at five star and could give you the impression that you are going on a luxury cruise liner this you are definitely not think more along the lines of a cheap floating b+b in Blackpool to be more realistic, but I would certainly recommend it to anyone who was looking for the nile experience and does not have high expectations after all you get what you pay for and we were happy with what we got for what we paid.
Advice: yes definitely

Now for the piece de resistance...our guide, H, Hesham, waroo, king of the nile, whatever the name people gave him is probably the best guide any one could wish to have for the whole experience in Egypt.H should be training all the guides in Egypt to his standard and humour, definatly the highlight of our trip.
