" very enjoyable "

First impresions were bad but after a day we all loved it.Very safe for kids pool was brilliant with the slides caravans were all new so they were nice, had a car so drove all around the lake it was fantastic.Only downfall was all the roads were gravel so could not push a buggy,But was talking to manager on site and he said that the reason they had not done the paths was there was still machinery still working on site for another six months so it was better to leave it.Will hopefully be going back next year.

Advice: fantastic so many nice attractions

Activities: venice,verona, and lake garda

" A big disappointment "

We chose this park as we were led to believe from various internet sites that it would provide more swimming pool fun for our 10- and 12-year-old than other campsites in the area. We also read that it had been completely renovated for the 2009 season.
The truth is, however, that it has not been finished on time. Pathways which were to be tarmaced are covered in coarse gravel (not easy to cycle on). We have never been to a campsite more crammed with caravans: there is nowhere to park next to your caravan (if only to load and unload) and not even any space most of the time to place your sunlounger. There are only two pools (although many websites suggest there are 3 or more). The pool with the slides is paddling depth only and my children were definitely not impressed with the slides available (for which you do need to buy an inflatable ride-on). The other pool is a normal pool which you can actually swim in (no slides) but is generally too full to do any swimming. The park facilities are at one end of the site and the one shop (groceries) has a very small range of goods. The restaurant service was terrible when we were there soon decided we would dine off-site. We hired bikes while we were there, although there was no clear information about hire charges and we were also told by one rep that there were no cycle paths in the area. It is possible, however, to cycle long the Mincio River to Peschiera in one direction, and to Borghetto and further in the other - trips which the whole family really enjoyed. This cycle path forms part of a national cycle route. Fortunately, the area has a lot to offer - Gardaland, Canevaworld water park (beware of the queues though), Movieland, Verona and the beautiful towns around the lake (we did a boat trip from Malcesine to Limone and back). The campsite, however, I would certainly NOT recommend - our kids were quite miserable there and much preferred Pra' delle Torri on the Adriatic coast where we went 2 years ago - if only we could have transplanted it to Garda!

" Pick another site! "

We had a good family holiday despite staying in Altomincio Family Park, as the area is truly lovely, with many attractions and great cafes and restaurants nearby.
The site was not ready for the clients in terms of infrastructure. THe internal "roads" were like roughly stoned-over farm tracks, and in places two cars could not pass each other. There was inadequate car parking available. We suffered a burst tyre on our hire car directly as a result of the very poor state of the campsite road (driving a very low speed in 1st gear at the time)which Altomincio accepted. There are no hot showers and no adult sized toilets in the public areas. Laundry facilities were less than advertised and one of the 3 washing machines was broken when we were there.
The shop was small and ran out of basics - bottled water, bread.
The pitches are small with no privacy. All seems cramped and apparently even more mobile homes are to be added for 2010!
The campsite restaurant was limited, but adequate. The two pools were good.
The reception staff were very friendly, helpful and competent.
Overall, this site appeared to be ill-prepared for its visitors and far from the standard we have come to expect after 6 previous holidays with Eurocamp.Eurocamp's accommodation and couriers were up to their usual high standard, but I would not recommend Altomincio to anyone and definitely will not be returning.

Advice: Garda is a beautiful area, stunning scenery, reasonably priced and friendly cafes and restaurants.

Activities: La Plume restaurant in Peschiera - excellent food, service and view over harbour.

" new site, give it a chance. "

We arrived the day after the previous writer left. Like him we had researched the campsite nd found little information, but then found the blog of the campsite manager on a dutch website. This campsite was taken over in April by ecvacance, the same company that owns NorcenniGirasole and I pini. Because of the extremely bad weather in Italy this year they weren,t able to progress as they had hoped but by the time we got there it was well on its way.
The two pools are great, a lagoon area for fun and slides, even my two year old was in his element and a larger Olympic style pool for the more serious swimmer.
The resaurant isnt great if you want something other than pizza but with the huge selection of restaurants locally we didnt eat much on site.
The entertainment team were brilliant and were there to make your kids enjoy themselves from morning to night.
If you are a cyclist or walker there are some great routes along the Mincio river which is adjacent to the site.
All the playgrounds were in place when we got there, and they were dotted all over the campsite. I cant comment on the football pitch as we never used it but the games room was installed during our second week.
The mini golf is great and as its adjacent to the bar the kids could play while the adults sipped cocktails.
All the staff on site were very friendly.
If we go on holiday next year we will be back if only to see the finished product. I think it will be one of the best in the area.

" Don't go there "

We booked a supposed holiday with Eurocamp at Altomincio Family Parc. It looked like the ideal place for our family, my husband and I and our two sons afed 6 and 14. Eurocamp only had one photograph of the site so I checked out some other sites, 22 in total and it looked wonderful. What we didn't know was that the photographs and descriptions are a complete misinterpretation, they are images of the former aqua park at Altomincio, it doesn't look like that anymore. If you have booked to go this year then PLEASE call customer relations and hopefully they'll tell you the truth.
The photograph on the website is completely misleading, it doesn't look like that in relity. There are 2 pools, not three, no hot showers, no games room and certainly no sport and playing fields. Our boys went to play football and came back with cut ankles and knees. They were playing with the animation team on a GRAVEL makeshift pitch opposite the entrance to the parc track. There are childrens playing equipmetn still in the wrapping just dumped around the site and there are no beautiful terraces and landscape areas, they've been replaced by caravans! What the brochure and the website doesn't tell you is that this WAS an aqua park and is not only a new site for Eurocamp this year, it's a new parc for all caravan companies!
Please check with your provider. We returned on the 23/06/09 and are absolutely furious. Please believe me,I wouldn't want another family to experience the bitter disappointment and outrage that we have.
