" Stefanos Studios "

Stefanos Studios are the best we have used in over 20 years of Greek holidays. Our studio (No 4) was quite roomy and had all we needed for our 2 week stay, including a kettle, toasted sandwich maker and even toilet rolls also a useful small washing line and pegs. Lena (the owner) works extremely hard and the studios are regularly thoroughly cleaned, towels (bath and hand) and sheets changed often. Our studio was on the right hand side at the back where the sun shone in the morning (we purchased an umbrella to shade us whilst having breakfast on the balcony), consequently this meant the room was shaded later in the day and was comfortable enough to sleep in without the use of the aircon. The Stefanos family were all very friendly, Nikos (brother) runs the minimarket over the road and is a really nice chap, his shop provided all we needed to purchase during our stay and at a reasonable price. Valtos is a lovely quiet resort, just the place to relax and watch the world go by, Parga is the place to go for a much livelier holiday. Unfortunately our peace was shattered on 5 nights by 'Live Entertainment' put on by the Mango Bar just along the road. One of the nights was a Greek Night which was ok as it was traditional, but the other 4 nights it was the same band singing the same songs VERY LOUDLY and not very well! Not really suited to the area, more appropriate along the beachfront or even Parga.
The beach is about an 8 minute walk away and there are plenty of sunbeds for hire at between €5 & €7 per day for 2 beds, brolly and table. The water taxi is also available from here to Parga. If you prefer a pool to a beach then the Mango Bar and Exotic Club just up the road offer free use of pool and sunbeds and also serve food and drinks at reasonable prices. The Mango pool is very nice but the beds are modern wooden ones and slightly uncomfortable, also music is played quite loudly, Exotic's beds are more comfy and the pool area is quieter.
There are several walks to be enjoyed, up the steep hill to Parga Castle and down the steps into Parga itself, a country walk to the hillside village of Anthousa and on up to Ali Pashas castle, or a coastal walk taking in the old Monastery.
Not a huge number of tavernas in Valtos for more variety try Parga, the Birds of Paradise and the Venezia were 2 places we would recommend, also the Green Bakery for coffee and pastries.
All in all a very relaxing holiday in a very comfortable studio, just a shame about the music.

Advice: Valtos is a very pretty resort, lovely beach and Parga has numerous tavernas and shops.

Activities: Zagoria, Vikos Gorge in the Pindos Mountains & walking in the River Styx are not to be missed.

Good for: Beach
