Haiti Hotel, Ca'n Picafort
My friend and I have just returned from a week at the Haiti Hotel. This a nice and clean hotel. The staff are polite and friendly. Rooms are very clean but I would agree with the people who have written about stubbing their toes on the beds - watch out! There was a good selection of food each evening and seemed to be something for everyone. One drawback though - there are two very small lifts which aren't really adequate for a hotel of this size. If you are booking day trips, give No Frills a try. They are a bit cheaper than Thomson (it all adds up if you're booking a few). We went on two trips with No Frills - the Caves of Drach and Palma - additional sightseeing tours were part of the day which made them good value for money. The coaches turned up right on time too. The resort itself is quite relaxed and friendly, plenty of bars and restaurants along the front. We would definitely return.
lovely little break
booked to go to this hotel on Tuesday flew out Friday, the most stressful part of our holiday was the blonde bimbo at the check in who took one and a half hours to check in approx 30 people, so much so, we had to go straight from check in and board the plane, even though we had been there 10 mins before we should have checked in! But this was thankfully the only downside to the holiday. We only went for a long weekend, flew Friday came back Monday evening....the weather was fab, the Hotel was clean, no germans, no tannoys going out every minute in three or four different languages, which is a bonus...staff very polite. The rooms are basic, ie no TV, but really apart from watching the news you dont really need to watch it, and you can buy a paper for all the goings on in Britian (not that your really bothered when your on your jollies) Rooms are small and beds are not very comfy, but they are just basic, however are clean, and that is far better to me than a slumberland mattress. Food is fine, hot, plenty of variation, for all palets...staff work hard and get clearing quickly. The pool area is clean, not massive but more than enough sun beds - but I suppose this depends on what time of the season you go. The day time entertainment for kids isnt massive, but if you want that then you need to book to go to a Thomson super family where thats all you hear all day long (and that gets you down!) my children 7 and 9 found plenty to entertain themselves in the pool and made friends easily and had a fab time! Night time entertainment seemed fine, albeit we only stayed for three nights, but we decided to split our night by spending some of it at one of the local english run bars, and then went back later to watch the end. It seemed adequate for the size of the hotel and believe me I have seemed much worse! On the whole we thoroughly enjoyed it and I would recommend it to families, couples of all ages who want a quieter holiday but with the opportunity to make it livier if you so wish by visiting the bars on the front, and the younger couples can visit the nightclubs...There is a bus outside the hotel to Alcudia and then onto Porto Pollensa, which we stayed at two years ago, and found it totally boring not only hotel wise but resort! There is nothing to do at night for any ages! So having not known too much about c'an picafort I can honestly say we were pleasantly suprised!
Not bad, not great
Myself and my girlfriend have just returned from the Haiti hotel in can picafort with mixed feelings. We booked last minute and after a harrowing time trying to find a holiday anywhere we settled for this hotel. On arrival we were not too impressed! reception area was nice and clean and the rooms were a decent size but the lifts are awful and, like many folks on here say, the bed legs will have you hopping round the room in agony!! We did have a nice sea view tho so we couldnt complain. The pool area was suficient if not a tad small but overall ok. There were loads of kids around the pool and in and around the hotel but i have to say they were no trouble and we actually enjoyed having them there! brings a bit of fun into a small hotel like this! the entertainment was poor but again, i really expected no less so cant complain. towards the end of the week we had had enuff thos so we went into town which was quite pleasent. Loads of restaurants and bars, all abit samey but nice all the same. we went to the sunburnt arms and anne and neils bar which appear to have gained cult status on these review sites and whilst they were great places to meet other english people and watch the footy......... i cant understand who goes on their hols just to watch eastenders and big brother????? geeze! a quick mention bout the food, its just your usual selection of meat potatoes and salad. Nice food but again, after a few days, enuff is enuff. so overall, nothing special here, just get what you pay for i suppose but if you are after a week in the sun and live like a bit of a pikey then this hotel is fine and u'll have fun. Just be open minded about a few small details and have a good time!
Nice hotel, ideal for kids
Nice hotel, clean, good food, nice pool area. Reception staff very helpful.
nice but dull
We have just returned from a week at the Haiti, the hotel is clean, the food is the same as any other half board hotel but the restaurant was always clean and the food was hot, the rooms are very basic and quite small but again clean. The pool area is quite small and the sunbeds were on grass which in places was quite muddy especially if there had been rain and there were not many tables to put drinks on so you usually had the resident ants in your drinks. To get a sunbed you had to get up very early, even though there are an abundance of signs saying that you were unable to reserve sunbeds but they might as well have been written in arabic. The thing that lets this hotel down is the entertainment or rather lack of it. Two of the 7 nights the resident reps supplied the entertainment which i think is a bit on the cheapskate side being peak season and all especially as they were not english and they lacked enthusiasm and alot of things they did seemed like an after thought. During the day there is no poolside entertainment apart from one day when they decided that a game of water polo would be a good idea at about 4.30 in the afternoon and everybody was thinking about getting ready for the evening. Overall for a cheap last minute deal this hotel is ideal but at the end of the day you get what you pay for and if you don't pay much you don't get much!!
Fantastic 3 Star Hotel !!!!
Our Family 76,39,37,12,8 We booked by phone through the Thompson teletext page, the hotel is thompson only so theres no germans there.... The hotel is fantastic value the food is really good, pool is a bit small but ok and if you want a sun bed you will need to get up early. the location is good just 10 min walk to the beach which is nice at night as there are bars and shops in the area. Overall great hotel you wont be disapointed...
Haiti Hotel Ca'n Pickafort
My husband and I have just returned from Haiti Hotel, Can Pickafort (a few days earlier than due). This hotel is wonderful, it is spotless. The food was good and a great variety to suit all tastes. Now my one and only complaint is that this hotel is not SENIORS friendly. We have spent the last 9 days in misery. We had the most rowdy family in the next apartment to us. The children run all over the hotel screaming etc. etc. I am not going to go on and be boring, lets say it cost a lot of money to return home early - with the stress of it all it made my husband ill. By the way I am speaking on behalf of all the senior patrons there. Warning - be careful which taxi you choose, we were charged 6 euros for a 2 min. trip down the road with our cases to meet the coach connection!!!!
Good Hotel
My wife and i stayed at the hotel Haiti for 1 week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are ok apart from the beds not been too comfortable. The food is good and there is a good selection and plenty. Although there were still a couple of people complaining the food, but you can't please everyone. The staff are helpful and the entertainment is good. The drinks are reasonably priced. The hotel is in easy reach of the beach and there is a good transport link to other nearby towns. We would definately stay there again.
Nice Hotel Let Down by Clientele
The hotel was well maintained, clean etc. Staff were very friendly and it was situated within walking distance of the beach. Unfortunately it is let down by it's clientele which consists of lower class English families (easily noticed by their England tops/caps/other tacky items of clothing) who cannot control their children. Most nights there were young children running around until 2am in the morning and on at least 2 nights there were children running around rattling everyone's door knobs. God only knows where their parents were. From what I could hear the parents spent most of their time shouting and swearing at their kids. These people were also frequently rude to staff who could only sit and take what they had to say.
Good laugh
we went to gran caneria in june, the weather was amazing!! i think it was about 34 degrees!! the appartments were clean if a little old fashioned, not very many families mainly young people. They are mainly self catering so did not eat in the resturant at the hotel. I was a bit worried before going as heard bad reports about the island but over all it was good, just seemed stuck in a time warp!! The food in the resturants was not great and quite expensive. Drinks are about 5 euros but when you ask for a vodka and coke you end up with 2!! they say its happy hour but happy hour seems to go on all night!! the moment you step out of the taxi its like a swarm of people come up to you to get yopu in their bar can be annoying!! The apartments were clean and our bathroom was nice, the pillows were like waffers!! the pool was just basic and quite a small area. The taxis are fantastic and cheap. Everyone had a good time, i cant say that i would go back to gran caneria its a bit tacky but i suppose all they canary islands are the same appartments were good for what we wanted just a bit 70s.
