Thomas Cook should be ashamed of the write up they give this Hotel. The staff are rude, we were greeted by a receptionist with a cigaret in her mouth, and they couldnt care less. It was raining when we arrived there was no offer to show us where our room was, numbers of... more

This place was sold to us as a 4* All Inclusive hotel - suitable for children. It is none of these things. We arrived at 7am to be "greeted" by a note stuck to the door saying that our room was up the hill on the right. The reception was locked and bolted, with no member of... more

The worst place I have ever stayed in all the years I have been going to Greece
The Cretan Village is sold as 4 star but I wouldn't even give the place one. Left wandering around at 4 in the morning with no one to show us to our rooms, no water, we thought we had been dropped at the wrong place till we founf a piece of paper on a glass door saying your romm is XX see you in the morning. Our room wasn't even basic! hand held shower in a tiny rusty bath tub. Dirty rooms and upholstery. We had black bug in our cloths cupboard. Smelly bed cover. Very limited meals with meat dishes being served up for next days meals. Bread and Jam for breakfast. Filthy pool area and very grubby sunbed covers. Poolside loos with open baskets of used loo paper in 90+ heat. Blue paint coming off the pool walls that took days to get off our feet. Owner would not refund any money and rep ( owners niece we believe) wanted £400 to move us. So many horror stories from other shocked guests. We paid the £400 to get out.
Very romantic hotel!
We enjoyed very much our stay at this hotel, for 6 nights, from 6th June 2009 and we felt great. The rooms are very nice and clean and the decorations are very special. The place is magnificent, very romantic, very quiet, the view is absolutely superb and the staff hospitable. We really felt that we were in a small cretan village. The only bad thing is that the breakfast and the dinner could be more reach.
Hell Hole!!!
**WARNING** Do not stay here, it is an absolute dive, not suitable for young children and definately not babies. DIRTY FALLING TO BITS DANGEROUS ARROGANT STAFF That is all I need to say
Fantastic!
Cretan village is the most beautiful place on crete! There's good service, Maria can be very nice to you. The apartments are big, mostly cleaned and the beds are nice. If you like the greek style, Delicious food, Good service, Nice Seaview and small, quiet hotels, then Cretan Village will feel like home! If you want a Huge hotel with 700 rooms, 4 restaurants, 7 pools and rude staff, please don't go there because it is a very nice Familyhotel! It is like the heaven! **Cretan Village 4 Life!**
Filthy
This hotel is the most unclean we have ever stayed in. Blood stains on the floor, Tables and chairs in restaurant dirty, sheets dirty. I would hate to think what the kitchen is like. We stayed all inclusive and were very dissapointed with the food especially breakfast. We ate out almost everyday. We saved all year for this holiday and when we arrived I nearly cried. I'm trying to get my money back. 4 stars? I'd shut it down!
What can I say thats not been said
Like the other reviews this place was horrendous "DO NOT GO THERE" you have been warned !!!!!!!
HOLIDAY FROM HELL
Where do we start, dont want to repeat the other reviews but quite honestly they are gospel. Booked our long awaited family holiday after saving all year had there been reviews like this one would never have chosen this hell hole. After arriving we couldnt take it all in I just cried ... firstly the steps were the only way up 101 to our room baby was asleep in buggy so had to carry him up as well as our suitcases. The first look at the room reduced me to tears I tried to keep a brave face for our children but I could not quite get used to the smell coming from the bathroom ( mens urinal but worse) The kids were hungry after travelling all day I asked if they could have something to eat. the owner gave them a serviette with four or five slices of dried up madeira cake. I had booked this holiday for my husbands 40th Birthday so as a surprise I e mailed ahead and asked for a cake and champagne. My husbands surprise was ruined when he arrived to be asked straight away if he could pay for them. Later I was told that the cake and champagne would cost 180 euros i asked if it was don perrignon but the owner said it was cava . I declined . We took a look t the pool my two year old who is learnng to swim went to jump in but everyone shouted no there was no shallow end and certainly no where for children. This holiday was advertised as plenty of place for children to play DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN TO THIS PLACE!!! I was so disappointed I cried for three nights. ALL INCLUSIVE WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH!! We had to spend s much more on food as the hotel ( YMCA) had nothing for children to eat and we noticed that lunch was a recycle of last night dinner. READ ON IT JUST GETS WORSE .... The toilet leaked and after about three days of complaining th e CHEF still in full dress came and attended to our leak, he had his hands down the loo, then returned to the kichen for the evening meal LOVELY we no longer ate at this place. My daughters bikini after one swim in the slimy pool was ruined. We satyed out of the place as long as we could we had to hire a car for two hundred euros to get out of the place. Fifteen people that stayed at our place all felt the same as us SOMETHING MUST be done about this place. For us it was not a holiday it was HELL... I Crete was beautiful CRETAN VILLAGE WAS NOT We argued with the Owner and pleaded with HER to give us back some of our money to move on but she declined. I COULD NOT WAIT to get in my own comfortable bed after sleeping for ten nights on the rock hard mattress which has left me and my husband with back ache. mY CALF MUSLES HAVE DOUBLED IN SIZE WITH THE AGONISING DAILY CLIMB UP THE MOUNTAN TO GET TO THE ROOM. I am hoping to take this matter further and please anyonewho has had this EXPERIENCE lets unite and Get this place off the books as a choice of holiday or US. I could go on ther is so much more...
How NOT to describe a Holiday!!!!!!!!
Recently renovated (Shutters & windows broken, switches not working, shower broken, Sink blocked (2 days to unblock), Fully air-conditioned, (if you pay 8 euros a day extra for it) Balconies with sea views (Room 21 through the solar panels & water tanks), Plenty of space for children to play(WHERE!?) Separate livingroom (no direct window Room 21) daily maid service (3 times in 7 days) balcony with sun-beds (NO) Buffet breakfast (packet toast, stale bread, a bit of cheese or jam with packet butter, tea or orange juice (not fresh) small basket of fruit either orange or apple) lunch (minimal selection of food (quite often reappearing in the evening if not finished at lunch) ENTERTAINMENT now there's a thing, the only entertainment was the string of complaints about the package. All inclusive, i dont think so. It seemed to me that for some of the staff they were Doing you a Favour. Most of the dining furniture had been repaired & kept breaking. 132 step up the Mountain to get to our room, fine if you are a Mountain Goat, but for people with young children or for the elderly No Way, getting a car up to the parking area at the top was an experience in its self (I was told to Take a Run at it in 1st gear and dont stop). The swimming pool was NOT children friendly since min depth was 1.75m (not very clean either) Clearing your own table was the order of the day along with the self service for food. I cannot begin to see how this is Sold as a 4 STAR holiday, although I believe that the Hotel's own description is just as misleading. I would NOT recommend this place to my worst enemy let alone a friend!!!!! I notice that the travel company I purchased this Holiday? through no longer shows it on their website.
Never a 4*
We booked to stay in this hotel without doing any research, therefore turining up with no expectations. The hotel is not a 4* purely for the fact that there are only about 3 members of staff in the whole hotel and you basically clean up after yourselves as you go. Returning used glasses to the bar before being allowed another drink and clearing your own plates after dinner. Besides the self service and the very large hill that the hotel is located on, I found this a nice place to stay. Quite, relaxing, not much to do but that is what we were looking for. If you want entertainment and 4* food then this is not the hotel for you.
