i would never recommend this hotel to anyone! this is my 6th trip to cancun an this was the worse. we were told we could upgrade our room once we were there. wrong! we were put on the 5th floor.with a view towards an empty pool and the street. the room smelled awfull . housekeeping left us a bottle of water half full from the people before! we tried to get room service to bring us water but to no avail. so we went to the gift shop to buy us some. the room was filthy. this all was our 1rst day there the 29th of june. finally late monday we went to another room on the 2nd with ocean view much better. still room service was awful and so was the menu. refrig didnt keep anything cold and airconditioning keept the room hardly cool. vacation ruined lefy on the 3rd of july wehad tues. and wednesday at the pool thats the only decent and clean part of this hotel!!!!!!

I have just read a few of the reviews on here and had to set the record straight....
I went to this hotel a few years ago and I found it fantastic!
Not being a fussy eater, I found the food brilliant, especially the breakfasts. There was a vast selection of things to eat. I was a little disappointed with the Mexican, as someone else has pointed out. I was expecting fajitas and enchiladas etc but none of this was on the menu. This however did not bother me and I just had something else!
The room we had was a superior room with its own jacuzzi on the balcony. We never used this however as the pools were amazing! We had no problem with damp and the shower was of a good condition.
The complex itself was excellent...cannot fault it The pools were lovely and not too crowded. One thing that did bother me was that the American guests liked getting very very drunk in the pool which meant that there was a lot of loudness!
The staff were very friendly and contrary to a previous review, they do fantastic cocktails at the bars. The swim up bar in the main pool does a cocktail hour every day at 3pm where they make new cocktails and let you try them! I must recommend the miami vice which was very tasty! Also the margheritas are amazing! (Also very very strong!)
Overall I had a fanstastic time and would definately go back to this hotel!

Went here for my honeymoon, found the hotel o.k. Clean and tidy and the staff very friendly but would not go back to this hotel.
Don’t get me wrong, I think it's o.k. if you stay here for just one week, then it starts to get boring.
You have a man on a piano for an hour and the odd night you may get some entertainment around the pool. A disco in the basement and that's it I’m afraid...
Would say that my hubby lost his wedding ring in the small swimming pool, so we went to reception explained what had happened and he said there’s nothing they could do till the pool was cleaned out in the evening. So we went back next day and there was no ring in the filter... So we lost that.
Beach is great but the sea is really rough. Found the food o.k. one woman said in her review that the chicken was never cooked (yep she is right) I would go back to Mexico but not at this hotel...

My boyfriend and I stay at the above hotel for a week at the end of October.
We found the hotel very good, clean, and friendly and we would definitely go back.
The staffs were all very friendly and helpful. The holiday rep was good; she dealt with everything very well.
The rooms were a bit damp and your clothes did get damp if you left them out of the suitcase for too long, the rooms were all clean and spacious.
The hotel offered several swimming pools that were open very long hours and all clean and good to use; the only thing was that most of the pools just had water of 3/4 meters deep. Therefore not great for swimming in.
The food was good, with plenty of selections, but the buffet was not the best option for lunch.
Overall it was good value for money and I would rate it 8/10.

I was recommended this hotel so I was quite confident this holiday was going to be good. I have previously been to Mexico before with Airtours so traveling with them again wouldn't have been a problem.
After arriving there, the hotel didn't have our reservation so we spent some time sorting that out. We finally made it to our room which was on the 2nd floor with a sea view (Not!) It was on the very bottom floor which was classed as the basement. As soon as we stepped into the room a smell of damp hit us. At first we thought it may be the Air Conditioning, It wasn't, it was the fact we were in the basement.
The bathroom was worse. It had mould on the walls and the ceiling. The bath had a big build of scale and dirt. The towel rack was hanging off the wall and you couldn't close the door just in case you got locked in.
After talking to other people staying at the hotel, nearly all the rooms were suffering from damp. Wherever you put your clothes they were always wet, the walls were always dripping and the ceilings were growing mould.
The one thing we like doing when going to the Caribbean is trying authentic cocktails. When we asked the bar staff for a cocktail menu they looked at us if we were mad, They didn't have one and better still, They couldn't even make one, Not even a Pina Colada. So for the duration of the holiday we just drank flat coke, water and beer (the only decent drink they had).
The buffet was supposed to have themed nights i.e. Oriental, Italian, Mexican. It was just chips, chicken, fried fish and deep fried vegetables. We decided to book into the a la carte Mexican, we wanted proper fajitas and burritos. My partner had some kind of fish and I had what I thought was steak but actually could qualify for a back end of a cow (disgusting), the menu had nothing resembling Mexican (not even a chili).
The pool was clean and of good standard but they never cleaned round the pool till evening and by afternoon there was cigarette butts, chewing gum and rubbish all over the floor.
The rep and the tour operator were brilliant and so was Mexico. But after the week I was crying to go home, I was first on that bus back to Cancun airport.
I work in the travel industry and I specifically book good standards of accommodation and I would never book this hotel for my customers and would never go back to this hotel.

The hotel was very clean, the staff were very friendly.
It was in a good location with a short bus ride to the centre from the front of the hotel which only costs 6 pesos about 20p.
The pool area was spacious and there were plenty of beds.
The room was huge and cleaned everyday. The shower was very powerful.
There was a variety of food everyday which was lovely. But the chicken didn’t seem to be cooked properly.
The hotel provides beach towels so don’t bother taking your own. There is also a very powerful hairdryer in the room so I wouldn’t take one of those either.
Overall my holiday was fantastic I would go back.

I just have to step in and set the record straight. My husband and I spent our honeymoon at the Oasis Playa and it was fabulous! We loved every second of it, and I actually cried when we had to leave.
Our room was on the fourth floor, and it was in pristine condition. No musty smell, and no dampness. Although we did have the occassional visit from a friendly salamander or two, lol.
The staff was amazing, as well as talented! There was entertainment nightly, all of which was performed by the friendly waitors, waitresses, and other members of the staff. There were comedy showes, live music, dance numbers, as well as a really impressive play about Mexican history. Yes, some of it may have been a bit cheesy, but at 12:00 AM when you've had a few margaritas, a few shots of Cuervo, and some pina coladas, just about anything can be entertaining :)
The drinks were amazing. Yes, the bartenders DID know how to make many types of drinks, and they DID have a drink menu. In fact my husband and I made it a point to try a new drink every day., and they were all yummy!! The food was also excellent. Maybe it was because I dieted for three months before the wedding, but my husband couldn't get me away from that buffet no matter how hard he tried, lmao! The food tasted GREAT to me! We also had a wonderful steak dinner at one of their restaurants, and it was incredible.
While we were there our concierge set us up on a tour of Chichen Itza. It was something I will never forget! On the bus ride there we stopped and visited a Mayan village where they still live in huts. Once we got to the ruins it was breathtaking! We explored the miles of ruins, and even climbed to the top of a piramid. On the way back we stopped at an authentic Mexican restaurant with live entertainment and excellent food. Our concierge also booked us a parasailing ride, and sea-do rentals. We took a bus into town for shopping and touring as well. The Oasis Palya is a bit out of the way from the rest of the Cancun hotels, but we found that the seclusiveness made it more romantic.
I must also point out that the private beach at the Oasis Playa is GORGEOUS! It is clean and not crowded at all. A couple of times my husband and I were the only ones on the beach. The snack bar at the beach was also very nice. We didn't spend much time in the pools, (although they looked clean and refreshing) the ocean was too beautiful to pass up.
All in all, I think that the Oasis Palya is paradise, and I would definitely recommend it. I don't know where these other posters were staying, but I do not agree with any of the negative comments listed about this resort!
Oh, and to the Brit who complained about the noisy drunk Americans late at night -
That was probably me and my husband. Sorry for ruining your vacation, lol :)
