My husband and I married in April and spent our honeymoon in the Lake District earlier in the year. Dave proposed in the Lake's and we wanted to go somewhere relaxed and romantic.
We decided to spend our week in a wooden lodge, this was unusual for us as ordinarily we stay in B&B's and hotels, but when we were searching for accommodation we can across South Lakeland Parks and were persuaded to change.
We chose to stay at Limefitt as the cabins are luxury but being self catering we could do our own thing.
The facilities around the park meant that we could eat out if we wanted to but the Deluxe lodge had all the facilities we needed to please ourselves - we didn't need to bring anything so no hassle there.
Our honeymoon was fantastic, from the minute we got there the stay was brilliant, as we drove up to the park we knew we had picked the right place to stay (we had worried a little that it would be a little too Butlins-esque but it wasn't like that at all - it was stunning and so well kept) Traditional stone walls and mature trees made sure the park fit within it's surroundings and didn't look out of place. Something my husband and i loved because we're nature lovers. And there were sheep grazing in the surrounding fields, sitting outside the lodge with a glass of wine was so magical, we will never forget it.
Mid week we decided we should probably do something a little more taxing than eating scones in Grassmere and wandering around the pubs and galleries, so we headed to Lakes Leisure in Winderemere for some canoeing - we'd never done anything like that before and it was so much fun. Would definitely recommend it, even to those who think it isn't for them - the guides were great and it was a brilliant laugh.
The staff at Limefitt were so friendly and accommodating, we felt really welcome and as though they couldn't do enough for us. From the housekeeping staff to the bar tenders and waitresses, service was efficient and friendly.
The accommodation itself was new and everything was spotlessly clean.
Only thing we would say is that they could do with renting DVDs out - we didn't know all of the lodges had DVD players and could have done with watching a DVD one night.
Nearly forgot, the Haybarn bar was lovely, good quality bar meals and decent beer.
Had a great honeymoon and we will be back!

My wife and I love going through to Limefitt, usually with friends, to have a walking weekend. We had been to Limefitt a hand full of times before deciding that it would be a better idea to buy a lodge there so that we can go whenever we want without having to worry whether there will be room in any of the other accommodation options.
Despite what some of the other reviews say, the Haybarn Inn is a lovely treat after a day's walking. It's nice to have somewhere to finish the day before going back to the lodge.
The park has a shop that has all the things that you'll need for your stay, as although the pub does food, it's nice to be able to eat when and what you want to.
The other owners (and indeed holiday makers) are a good bunch and it's always nice to see them when we visit.
