Hotel Suisse

Based on reviews on this board, we booked the Hotel Suisse in Nice. We paid 155 euros per night for a "superior room." It had a small balconey overlooking the Med. The location and view are fabulous but . . . 1. There was no porter available and we were subjected to raised eyebrows when we arrived from a criuse with very heavy luggage. We decided to book the Hotel Suisse after reading previous reviews and we were not disappointed. The hotel is much better than the 3*'s it has been awarded. It is very tastefully decorated and even though the room is a little on the small side it was more than adequate. The views are amazing and you get a window in the bathroom so you even get to admire the view from the toilet! My daughter and I stayed at Hotel Suisse from 24 to 28 April. What a gem. Between the port and harbour and old town situation couldn't be better. We had a room on the fifth floor and the views were amazing. We could see right across the bay to the airport. The breakfasts are perhaps a bit expensive at 15 euros per person per day but the calm of the room where breakfast was served made it more than worthwhile.We booked an evening tour to Monaco and Monte Carlo with dinner included (Azure Tours). After a long day traveling turned bad with a missed train, it was wonderful to turn up to the Hotel to our room (only one of us could go up on the lift, it is extremely small, one person with luggage only!) and find it new, clean and very comfortable. We had wonderful views of the bay, and just to top the day off, we were able to watch a fireworks display that night! This hotel was in a great location. The room had one full wall of windows with french doors opening out onto a balcony. We had a beautiful view of the water. It is right next to the entrance to the old town, which has many shops and restaurants within walking distance. The room was absolutely huge! It was bigger than most US hotels. Like most, after reading the wonderful reviews on this site, we booked a 3 night stay at hotel Suisse. Yes, the view is to die for, you can see the entire promenade and the Mediterranean Sea! I believe most rooms have a view, except for 2 rooms per floor. We booked it thru Hotels and got a rate of $99Euro per night for 1st week of April, which is not bad, I think the standard rate is 139 in April with a traditional view room. What a treat. We arrived in Nice to find ourselves in a city centre hotel - far from the 4* it boasts on the door. After one night there we found Hotel Suisse and immediately changed hotels. This hotel, strangely a 3* only (probably due to lack of pool), is very nicely decorated and in a prime location. We could admire the Promenade and the sea lying in bed.. Yes, there is some noise from the street but for a view like this - anytime again.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Suisse. We booked direct with the hotel and therefore paid the full price for a sea-view double room. Unfortunately, we got a very small room on the first floor with a disappointing view and an extremely saggy bed! We therefore paid the extra to upgrade to a room on the fourth floor with a balcony and this was wonderful - just like the reviews and the photos on tripadvisor. My husband and I (both 50) stayed at the Hotel Suisse for 4 nights in March. We chose this hotel based on reviews in this website and were very satisfied. The hotel is located right beside Castle Hill Park and viewpoint, and directly across the street from the Bay d'Anglais. We asked for a traditional seaview room, but were pleasantly surprised when they upgraded us to a seaview with balcony for the same price! Based on previous posts of this hotel, I made reservations for myself and 5 female friends. We all give the Suisse positive reviews. It's a great value and a super location. Pros: Great Value. $151.00 per night for twin bed room. Friendly staff. Modern, sleek lobby area. Small bar/lounge area. Rooms were small but adequate and very clean. Attentive housekeeping staff.
