Hyatt Cancun Caribe Villas & Resort Hotel

We stayed at the Hyatt Cancun Caribe and Villas for our honeymoon from July 14 through July 21, 2003. We booked directly through the hotel on the honeymoon package. The honeymoon package included fresh flowers upon arrival, a welcome drink, breakfast, appetizers and drinks in the evening, an upgrade to a villa room, fresh fruit plate one evening, and dinner at the Blue Bayou. We just returned from our honeymoon at the Hyatt Cancun Caribe (July 7-14) and were very pleased with our stay. The hotel is quiet, not a big partying hotel, which is what we wanted. We stayed in one of the villas, and the only thing we were disappointed with was the view. We wanted a full ocean view, but only had a partial one. My husband and I just returned from a 5 night getaway to Cancun without our 3 preschoolers. (June 29-July 4)I spent hours researching hotels and restaurants, and we eventually chose the Hyatt Caribe because of the villas and the Regency Club option that is included with the villa accommodations - small breakfast and cocktails and snacks in the evening. This was our first trip to Cancun. We stayed for 4 nights and five days with the European plan (7/3-7/03). The beach/sand/ocean were beautiful. I couldn't get enough of the view. The room was nice. Breakfast buffet was $17.00, evening buffet was a Mexican Buffet @$23.00 and/or Seafood Buffet @$24.00. The Seafood Buffet was not worth it. They cooked a seafood kabob on the grill outside and it only had 2 pieces of shrimp on it along with maybe one piece of fish and several vegetables. The Hotel was nice. We got upgraded to a villa which was beautiful. An unexpected plus to our trip. The beach was beautiful. Hotel staff extremely nice. Blue Bayou restaurant was excellent. Pool restaurant and Cocay Cafe was okay. Food very bland. Mainly we ate out. Mexxxtreme was a good Mex restaurant located downtown. A 10 minute walk from the hotel. Lorenzillos was good but pricey. Went at end of May, 2003, for 7 nights. Hotel was in an OK location, but had to cab or bus to most bars. Is walkable to Jimmy Buffetts, Outback, a mall, and Senior Frogs. Pool was nice, no diving, beach was good, filled up quick, but food was expensive and horrible. Braskfast buffet 18dollars, and not that good. Dinner buffet 24 dollars and was basically a scam. Eat elsewhere, like at the mall McDOnalds or Buffets or Outback. There is an aquatic adventure place across the street which is fun. Do the jungle Tour. BUt again, this is Mexico,... more

In March 2003, I made reservations for a beach front villa at the Hyatt Cancun Caribe for late May 2003 to celebrate the one year anniversary of my wedding to my wife. Upon arrival, we were taken to a very small villa on the side of a hill with a red brick building in front of the villa as our only view. No beach front! No ocean view! When I complained to the hotel manager and showed him the printed reservation calling for a beach front villa, he said he was sorry but all those rooms were taken!!!In over 30 years of travel I have never been... more

Went to Hyatt Cancun Caribe May 10 - 14, 2003 and had a great time. Highly recommend the Sr Frogs Bar Leaping Tour ($50ea - 4 bars all you can drink and cover charge incl).... Hyatt was an "average-at-best" resort and no means a 6 star resort. Maybe when it was built in the 1970's but not now. The breakfast buffet is $17.50 and food was average. Did not eat lunch or dinner there as we went out. Pool was O.K. but needs music. WOW... what at vacation!! I had a blast at Hyatt Caribe while i was there with my roomates and so did my other 55 graduates. The staff and management were acceptionaly curtious and on piont with anything we needed. I did have a little trouble takin naps with the loud peacocks around. Besides that, our trip was very comfortable and well worth it. I would recommend Hyatt Cacun Caribe to anyone seeking that "get-away" which can't be described in words.... you just have to live it. Our vacation in Cancun was the best time we've had in years. I read lots of trip reviews and got great advice. I chose to stay at the Hyatt Caribe Cancun because it offered beachfront villas, continental breakfast, and evening horsdoeuvres. I did not go with the all inclusive meals because I wanted to try some of the local restaurants. I made the right decision.
