New Phildene Hotel

We had two rooms booked, one double and one family for the teenagers. On arrival with our bags, car etc, we were advised that the car park was closed for the weekend to be painted (A bank holiday weekend!!) When confronted about this inconvenience, we did not even receive an apology from a very unhappy looking landlord/owner. He could not even give us some advice on where to find secure car parking, his attitude was so bad that one couple left without checking in and to be honest if I didnt have 5 in a party and could be guaranteed accommodation elsewhere I would not have stayed either. We were forced to drive around for ages eventually finding a space near the pleasure Beach some 2 miles away and got a bus back to the hotel, outrageous.
We had booked two rooms. One of the rooms was lovely and spacious, with a locked window in the en-suite. The other (family room) was very small, tatty with a small bathroom.
The breakfast was served regimently between 9am and 9,30am...no flexibility in this gaff thats for sure. Usual english breakfast served as if it was thrown onto the plate and at least one of us got a cold portion each day which had to be returned to be re-heated. The watress and the wife of the owner could not have been more helpful but the man, he needed a course in manners and customer care as he clearly has had neither.
They also ran out of hot water just after breakfast, leaving us with no shower for some time until the water reheated, not somthing I would expect from a hotel. Again the complaint was met with no apology and a snappy uncaring attitude.
We were so disgsted with the lack of service from this man and the treatment of others, we made a point of spending not one penny more in his establishment. We had friends with us who would have happily sat in our bar and drank till the wee small hours so he lost a fortune there.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone as this man deserves NO trade whatsoever until he learns how to treat people with a bit of respect. I will also make sure I give this review on every website I can and only sorry I never found this site before I went.
