İ booked flights through Pegasus Airlines and flew from Stansted to Ercan. There was a 45 minute stop-off in Turkey where some people got off and others got on to go to North Cyprus. We didn't have to get off the plane, but it gave us time to stretch our legs before flying the rest of the way to Ercan. You can fly direct to Larnaca, but then you have the added car journey and also the time spent to cross the border.
Our hotel was about 45 mınutes away from Ercan. We were collected from the airport by Abdi. His English is quite good so while we were driving to the hotelhe told us a bit about the area.
The hotel was a small, friendly hotel and they made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. Obviously, at this time of year there is not alot going on at the hotels, but the restaurant and bar were open if we didnt feel like going out. The food was great, serving kebabs, steaks, local dishes, fish and more. (Thank you Ali). We'd then go to the bar, which wasn't very busy, but with enough people there to give it a good atmosphere. Having spoken to some of the other customers, we soon realised that quite a few of them were ex-pats, now living in Cyprus, and come to Rose Gardens on a regular basis to eat and drink.
We will definately be going back to Rose Gardens later this year.
Thank you Tony, Abdi, Ali, Hülya and the rest of the gang for making our 1st experience of North Cyprus a memorable one.
Advice: Plenty to see and do. Food lovely and everything reasonably priced.
Activities: cheap but lovely food, Kö?em Kebap ?n Kyrenia. Bellapais is a must for view and also restaurants.
