Great hotel
from A TripAdvisor Member
Just got back 02-28-04 Hyatt was a great place to stay. I didn't have problem at all. The rooms were clean The view was great not much beach but who cares. All you have to do is walk about 50 ft. to either side of the hotel the beach area are right there. The food was great at the hotel also. So don't listen to all those review that the place was bad. Because it is not bad at all.
Not so much
from A TripAdvisor Member
If you are expecting Hyatt quality you will be disappointed. The rooms, particularly the bathrooms, are subpar. We had trouble with water pressure and temperature in the shower. The bed was quite old and very uncomfortable. The hotel is VERY noisy, mostly due to an incredibly loud air system at the hotel next door - there is no peace. The fan sound is very loud at the pool as well. What you want to hear in Cancun is ocean - not air conditioning units! Additionally, the rooms get the lobby noise as all of the rooms are located in a circle...

Had a great time

Yes - the Hyatt does not have a beach. But if you have been to Cancun or look into the information, all the beaches in cancun are open to the public. It is also a great place to find sea schells and coral by the rocks along their shore. I have stayed many time a the camino real next door, the have a really nice beach- use it when staying at the Hyatt. I am going to stay there 2/8/04-2/15/04 for my honeymoon and have friend staying next door at the camino. Most hotels will welcome you to come and spend your money at their hotel instead of the...

Four Class Dump
from Isky
Hotwire.com found me this four star luxury hotel that "it" said had a spa on the premisis. It did not have a spa and turned out to be a dump. The hangers were so old they would not hold me clothes. I was in room #1123 and there was a loud fan we could here all the way on the 11th floor. The blanket was old and nasty looking, the bed was hard. The public bus was far away, unlike other hotels that had the bus stop in front of their hotel. The facility is listed as beachfront, but they don't tell you there is no where to walk on the beach...you...

Hyatt Regency......two thumbs up
from A TripAdvisor Member
The Hyatt Regency was a great hotel. I was there for spring break 2003, one week in March. There were two of us that went, and the 1st night they only gave us one bed. We complained the next day, and the immediately moved us to a two-bed room. The whole hotel is very nice, and the rooms are no exception. I believe every room has a balcony with a sliding glass door for easy access. The most important feature maybe the air conditioning. Without good air conditioning, we probably would have baked to death in that tropic air. Whenever we brought...

Ugly with no beach
from A TripAdvisor Member
Mis-matched furniture and flourescent lights in the lobby. Horrible mildew smell throughout. The guest room was okay except for a pugent odor from the water or maybe it was the drain. There is no beach. Others reccomend walking to the hotel next door, but its beach is not nice either (It's narrow with a very tall cement seawall). You can walk about three hotels down to find nice beach access. This hotel is perhaps 3-star quality. We checked-out after one night.
Another disappointment in Mexico
from A TripAdvisor Member
Here I was again in Mexico, but this time instead of Acapulco, it was Cancun. And I assumed booking a Hyatt Regency I would be guaranteed first class service and accommodations, boy was I wrong. I was on one of the Regency Club floors (12th) and two lights in my room were burned out and never fixed, the phone was dead and my balcony door couldn't have been opened by The Hulk himself! The lobby is not airconditioned and everything just has that musty smell to it, and don't tell me it's because we're at the beach! I used to work at The...

Very nice hotel with a beautiful beach view
from A TripAdvisor Member
I came to the hotel for a 5-day trip with a couple of my girlfriends. We liked the hotel and the quiet location at the north end of the strip. It was within easy walking distance to the shopping/restaurant/clubs and bus access. The hotel grounds and features were beautiful and we ate at their Solarium cafe (which was open 24 hrs) almost every day. The actual beach is quite narrow and rocky...but if one walked a little south...there's plenty of beach there.
No beach, no problem. Really
from A TripAdvisor Member
I find it hard to understand the complaints about no beach, as all you have to do is walk a very short distance to the Krystal next door, not more than a couple of hundred feet. The Hyatt has some kind of arrangement with them for beach access, unless things have changed since 2002. There's even a bar on the path - easy to come back and get drinks. There's also public beach access across the street from the hyatt, near the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach. Either of these options beats the Camino Real; there's no reason to even walk over...
