Just returned from week in Meribel, through Skiworld, which was great. Hosts did excellent job of preparing good food and a welcoming atmosphere. Main complaint was no locks on bedroom doors. Some light bulbs failed and they ludicrously had to "order" more but really this was only a minor irritant. Yes the whole place could do with a refurbishment but this didn't spoil our time there. Wine was plentiful but we ended up buying our own! Only reason for not going back to chalet and Meribel itself would be that our hosts wouldn't be there.
PS we used overnight Eurostar and felt the extra days skiing and, in our opinion, better transfer times, made up for the lack of sleeping in comfort.

  • Advice: Good location and value
  • Good For: Ski
  • Board Basis:breakfast, tea + 3 course dinner +

We (family of 4) had a great week at the chalet Fleur des Alps. The staff were great – were extremely helpful and served very good food all the time with plenty of wine and a very friendly atmosphere. The beds were made each day, and it was clean and tidy. It was toasty warm and the fire was superb.
It is a 5 minute walk in ski boots one way to the slopes and 2 minutes to the Morel lift. You can come back equally close either way so it is great if you want the option of dropping into the chalet part way through the day.
There is a knack to getting the lock to lock properly on the ski room but it works well (don’t push the door fully closed). We weren’t given room keys which was a bit of a shame – there are front door locks but these aren’t locked all the time.
This isn’t the newest chalet but you can’t have everything! The ski hire shop is next door and over the road there is a general store next to the pizza shop.
Ski-World arranged complimentary ski tours around the slopes on several days, which was great as a group activity. There is the free bus stop very close by, in both directions and the walk to the centre of Meribel is about 10 to 15 minutes.
I would thoroughly recommend this chalet and would certainly go there again.

Great chalet, brilliant chalet hosts

We stayed here from 6th feb to the 13th 2010 and enjoyed it immensely . The chalet was clean and staff were very attentive , dont believe previous reviews . The food was amazing and the fire was really cozy and lit each night.
The only negative was that we had no locks to our individual rooms with just a main key to look the outside door.

Chalet Fleur des Alpes
New Year 2008
Chalet very tired and very basic. The heating broke down, although 'maintenance' were informed it took two days without heating and hot water before boiler could be repaired. We had a problem with our door not closing properly, maintenance did get informed about this and it was repaired in three days. No Locks on doors. Locking doors in this chalet was a problem and as staff from other chalets also lived in the downstairs part of the accommodation, it wasn't clear who was actually staying here and security was dependent on people actually using keys rather than leaving the door unlocked which seemed to happen frequently. Chalet needed a good clean, even throughout the stay this didn't happen. Locker room for ski's was also general storeroom for food and bits of mechanical? stuff. It had touch pad entry system that was unpredictable...if it worked. The two chalet staff actually coped in a kitchen that was tiny and antiquated, cracked work surfaces ect, making it difficult to clean properly.

  • Advice: Brilliant Vast Ski Area connecting easily to other areas.
  • Good For: Ski
  • Board Basis:All Inclusive
  • Tour Operator:First Choice

I have recently returned from a Snowboard/ Ski holiday in Meribel. The holiday was booked via IGLU Ski and organised Skiworld. The trip started off well and things seemed to be well organised. We arrived at the Chalet and the staff seemed competent and friendly. However, I started to feel that maybe things weren't that well organised when I entered the area we were to stay in for the next week. As we entered our corridor there was a mouse/rat trap in the corridor, I then saw another trap in my room, next to the bin, full of poison, I am only glad that I did not have any young children with me who could have quite easily picked up the red poison and put it in their mouths.

The ski locker room had an entry code we put all our kit in this room and proceeded to shut it. However, the 'lock' failed in its main purpose and did not work at all, we tried a number of different methods but it would not lock. In the end we locked some of the kit together using a board lock in order to make it safer. We informed the staff at the chalet and they said they had told 'maintenance' but no one came out and this lock remained broken for the entire duration of stay. A lack of locks seemed to be running theme in the Chalet as none of the rooms on our floor locked. We had one key for the main door but this was totally reliant on the other people in the corridor locking the main door which rarely happened.

The rooms were supposed to be cleaned everyday (this was stated on the welcome card - 'We will clean your chalet daily including making your beds, emptying the bins and replenishing toilet roll. The only exception will be on our day off') this failed to happen in any way and did not happen on ANY day. The shared bathroom and toilet that was shared by approximately 9 guests and Skiworld Chalet staff (we saw four different people from this room) was often left in a very poor state. We also had to ask for the toliet roll to be replenished. I also requested a broken light to be fixed in my room on the first day we arrived, this also never got fixed in the week.
We were enjoying the area so we tried not to let these things frustrate our holiday, however the final straw came on Wednesday when we started to smell sewage when entering the corridor and when opened windows in the rooms the smell seemed to be worse. One guy in our party is a very experienced plumber. He went out the back and it soon became very apparent what the problem was. The Cesspit had become full and 'foul' water was overflowing and running under the childrens swings in the garden. What this water contained was totally disgusting. Again the chalet staff informed 'maintainence' but they failed to show. With an incidence this serious I would have thought they should have come out immeadiately and addressed this problem but this situation continued and the smell got worse over the week. Again, thank god no children used the swings as the resulting infections that can come from 'foul water' are serious and can cause horrendous infections.
I have been on quite a few snowboard holidays and this was the first time we had used Skiworld and will probably be the last. The only area that redeemed the holiday was the 3 valleys and because Skiworld had no influence over this part of the holiday that was probably for the best. I have come back to England and many of friends have asked about the trip as they are all keen to go Skiing/ boarding next year however I have had to tell them truth about my experience with your company and needless to say they are pretty appauled.
Needless to say I am in the process of complaining, in the meantime...DON'T GO to this chalet!!

  • Advice: A lovely massive area to ski, but you may need to remortgage your house to afford the prices
