Maria Tsanakalioti's Apartments

Having read some rave reviews about these apartments we booked a beach front apartment for two weeks at the beginning of June this year. Although the apartment and bedding were scrupulously clean, the toilet had no window and no extractor fan which was a problem as it was situated in the middle of the apartment! The cleaning (including the toilet) was carried out every 4 days. No-one mentioned that the front of the apartment opened on to a very busy road (although the back did open onto the beach). There was a single bed in the kitchen which really was unusable because of the lack of air-conditioning in this room and the noise from the road. There was one usable plug point in the kitchen (the other was over the bed) and very few pots and pans.
Makrigialos is a beautiful place; the sea and the beach are great - perfect for children and the locals are very friendly and helpful. We will go back but to different accommodation.

We spent two weeks in May 2008 at Maria's and it was like staying your Family.
These typically Greek apartments are wonderfully positioned right on the uncrowded sandy beach.You literally step from beautifully garden patio on to the beach.
The apartments are exceptionally clean!!!

We spent two weeks in June 2008 at Maria's and it was like staying with your favourite Aunt and her Family.
These typically Greek apartments are wonderfully positioned right on the uncrowded sandy beach.You literally step from beautifully garden patio on to the beach.The warm shallow waters are ideal for swimming and perfectly safe for non swimmers alike.
The apartments are exceptionally clean and equipped to very high standard.The kitchen/dinning room also holds a full size single bed. A very modern fully tiled bathroom and shower.
Most bedrooms enjoy the luxury of full size double bed and are tastefully decorated with lots of personal touches. The patio door from the bedroom leads directly on to the beach.
These well kept family run apartments are just a few minutes stroll from the harbourside tavernas and bars.Hiring a car will give you easy access to the mountain villages but as Makrigialos has retained it greek traditions so this is not necessary to enjoy the greek way of life.The hills behind provided lots of wonderful walks through the olive groves with superb sea views.
Maria and her daughter Debbie are always on hand to sort out any problem that may arise e.g missing luggage booking transport to and from the airport this takes away any doubts you may have about booking independantly without a tour operator.
We felt as if we had stepped in to another world to just wind down and enjoy the wonderful greek hospitality so much so we have booked to go back in September 2008 and again for June 2009. Can not wait to get back!
