Just thought I'd chip in here. Stayed in Brevieres a few times before and even been to the Waterloo once, albeit there were 8 of us (Great resort by the way!).
We are looking to go again this year becaudse the waterloo is actually a decent and well priced chalet. True it would be cramped for 12 as the dinner table on seats 10???
But I notice that Alpine have reduced beds from 12 to 10. They say theyve done this basically because of the complaints they got about 12 being too much for this chalet.
It still looks like a lovely chalet so on that we'll be booking. cant wait!

Beautiful Chalet in stunning surroundings.

Just came across this review and, after staying there a year ago felt compelled to add my thoughts.
My family and I have stayed in quite a selection of chalets over the years, and taking into account value for money Chalet Waterloo rates very highly indeed. It's typically alpine decor has obviously been well thought out and my kids thought it was magical. The views over the lake are breathtaking and the fact we had use of a nearby pool and sauna was a god-send! Lovely way to kill a couple of hours before dinner after a hard days skiing.
Every room had an ensuite - definitely not something to take for granted in our experience and the rooms were perfectly comfortable. In all honesty I would agree with one of the previous comments about the dining table being a tad on the small side for 12 people but even that wasn't much of a negative as it actually worked as a bit of an ice-breaker. The food was delicious and the host did a fantastic job, yes once or twice it was perhaps 20mins late but who's clock watching on holiday anyway!
We were all completely charmed by this gem of a chalet and are looking forward to going back.

Not a Gold Standard Chalet
1 / 10
Mar 2011, Genuinely unimpressed

Chalet Waterloo is simply not a Gold Standard Chalet and is completely unsuitable for 12 people. There was not enough room in the living room or dining room for 12 people to sit comfortably. The entrance to the chalet was through a garage/store room and there was no drying racks for boots. In addition one room did not have a wardrobe and the advertised spa was too far from the chalet to make it any use. Having been on many chalet holidays I can safely say that this is not Gold Standard and wholely unsuitable for 12 people.

  • Advice: Great place but do not go with Alpine Elements

This is just simply no where near a Gold Star Chalet as stated - only just near to a poor 3 star. Furniture old and the size of the chalet is absolutely appauling for 12 people-literally no where to sit and having to climb over chairs to leave dinner table. Reps unconcerned with standards - driver Josh was the only outstanding member of staff. Wine was plentiful - food mostly average and cold (due to open window as cooker smokey!!)Value for money very poor and far from slopes. Have been with Alpine Elements before and had far better accomodation and treatment. No hairdryers.

My 11 year old son and I have just returned from an awesome weeks skiing staying here. We had read some poor reviews about the company prior to booking, but some people it would seem you just cannot please. The chalet was clean, very warm, very efficiently run and the host could not have been any better. The food was amazing, healthy and hearty rather than fancy. The breakfast was plentiful, the afternoon fresh homemade cakes were to die for, which saw us through to our three course evening meal at 7, wine was well supplied and not rationed, however if we had managed to drink it all we would have had to supply our own, which is fair enough. The only drawback was that with 11 around the table it was a bit of a squash! Claudia our host was brilliant, she checked that the meal at night was going to be suitable for my son, and on the odd occasion that it was not was more than happy to cook an alternative just for him. She kept the chalet clean and welcoming throughout the week. The rooms were not massive but what do you expect in a chalet, they are not huge buildings or they wouldn't be as charming. However the en-suites were sparklingly clean with lots of hot water and there was plenty of storage in our room, which also had a tv. We were picked up outside the door in the morning and taken to the lifts, even though they were not that far away, and collected at night and taken back. The skiing are was marvellous, part of the espace killy area, plenty of variety and a glacier, where you felt you were on top of the world. I would definately recommend this company and chalet.
