Undeniably a cheap skiing holiday. Going to Chamrousse has proved to be a great skiing experience but there are things travellers need to know - 1. You all need to love eachother A LOT - the apartment that sleeps six consists of bunks in the hallway, a double in an alcove with a sliding door and a mercilessly uncomfortable sofabed in the kitchen - the blocks are ok from the outside but ours was attached to K-Dox bar which had 'entertainment' from local djs which was so loud our apartment vibrated until 2am - not good with three small children. 2. The skiing however for us intermediates was fab, the mountain was well laid out and the slopes varied. One thing though, my 5yr old twins went to Piou Piou ski school where 2 instructors with no English (not really a problem until...) LOST a 5yr old boy UP THE MOUNTAIN!!! On the last day they continued to take 16 under 6s up the mountain in near blizzard conditions which I found unacceptable considering their recent 'loss'. 3. There is a supermarket locally and a couple of ski shops, a fab outlet for vin chaud at 1Euro during happy hour and the Bachat Restaurant which is reasonably priced considering its 5Euros for a pint of beer and 4Euros for a bag of lettuce! Just one more note on the apartment - take ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING including w/up liquid, cloths, loo rolls, coffee, salt/pepper et al - there really isn't anything except the basics.
