Only stayed for 1 night but it was clear that this is a top quality hotel with a very warm welcome, great breakfast and great location. Hope to return in the summer for a longer stay.

You get what you pay for, or do you............
I recently stayed at this B'n'B with my fiancee. Now the room was fairly cheap, and booked directly with the hotel. I guess when you stay at a 2* hotel, you can't really expect too much, but I'll just sum up some of the bad points for us. The room smelt extremely musty, I don't know what you'd do in the Winter because it was horrible without the window open. The carpet was not laid to the edge of the room and was dirty in places, and very dusty. The wallpaper was also coming away from the wall in parts, and neither of these is really acceptable. The shower en-suite was acceptable, but what I would say is that it goes hot and cold while you are in the shower, which is extremely irritating. Now for the very worst part, this hotel is a bed and breakfast, with the emphasis on breakfast, I have never stayed in a B'n'B which charges you for a full English breakfast, and I was not informed of this extra when I booked the hotel, only upon check-in where I was informed I could pre-order with the girls in the morning. The price of a single cooked breakfast there is £12!! Now I'm not sure exactly what is included but unless its a golden egg thats a high price to pay for a fry up!!! On the positive side, the owner is very friendly, they have lots of information of local events, the location is pretty good, and the 2 Eastern European girls that basically look after you, clean, prepare breakfast etc, were very, very friendly and helpful. Therefore I wouldn't give the hotel a complete miss, just know what to expect. 2 Stars for a 2 Star place.

We advertise on our website and pass information to all our booking agencies that Ingledene House is a "Bed and Continental breakfast" and not a "Bed and Breakfast". We also state everywhere that we are accredited as a 2 star guest house with Visit Britain. How reservation agencies, display, represent or interpret this information is entirely their responsibility and not Ingledene. We do not believe that guests should eat "English breakfast" because its generally agreed in medical circles that this kind of food is not good for your health. It increases your risk for bowel cancer . It also significantly increases your risk of obesity, high cholesterol, hypertension, heart disease and a number of other killer ailments, not to mention arthritis or hip replacement problems. When guests insist on this we charge £12.50 extra because we will not freeze this stuff but instead will go out and buy fresh organic on demand only. This price in our opinion is cheap considering the amount of inconvenience and time it takes a guest house to cook something we really dont think guests should be eating. Furthermore this kind of breakfast is readily available at an affordable price just 50 metres away from us in the Pavillion Cafe that overlooks the bowling green. Again this is all explained in detail on our website. This season we had a number of people serving our breakfast: One was from Western Europe sponsored by the French government on a 3 month placement with a mission to promote French Croissants. Another was from Eastern Europe, Romania. Another was a student from Germany explaining the benefits of German cured meat. Another was from the Philippines. More recently a Brasilian lady, who also happened to be an extremely talented cook, stopped by for a month. All these people lived and worked in our guest house this season serving many satisfied customers continental breakfast all out of individual portion-wrapped packets stamped with a gold Hygiene and Food safety award from the local council. Needless to add, many healthy looking Europeans have commented on what a brilliant breakfast we provide. In particular, the better atomsphere it creates with bread rolls purposefully baked, providing the correct guest house therapeutic aroma to inspire weary travellers to awaken. During the winter season we continue to provide a refurbishment programme that includes many new improved amenities and changes to the quality of our bedrooms and public rooms. And lets be 100% clear, this reviewer did "get what she paid for" contrary to what is implied in her review and that “luxury” items such as English Breakfast extras, shower mixers or new carpets are items that might be expected of a 3/4/5 star but not a 2 star classification.
