White Christmas in Switzerland

We arrived on 23rd December for a Christmas break. Well, I can say we certainly were not disappointed with the hotel and the rooms. Our two rooms were beautiful. My parents room had an open plan staircase leading up to an upstairs gallery area with two single beds, so presumably this room was a family suite. Our room had a very high ceiling with skylight and was also spacious. The roof area was wood built and the floors parquet. Although they had high ceilings the rooms felt cosy and homely. Our room also had a small balcony. The beds were so comfortable. They were equipped with memory foam matress covers and the duvets were thick and warm and really added to the comfort. There was plenty of wardrobe space to put everything. The rooms were spotless and the bathroom/shower area were so pristine as to look totally new. The only downfall was the heating was not on in our room on our arrival, but once we told the front desk it was a little chilly in there they provided us straight away with a convector heater. After this, the rooms were kept adequately warm.
The food was served hot and the chefs really took care on appearance. It was presented beautifully. The portions are fairly small to our tastes, but the waiters (and the owner, who is very hands on in this family run hotel) came around offering 'seconds' which most people took advantage of! The meals were really of a high standard. Breakfast was buffet style, consisting of the usual continental fayre (no hot food apart from boiled eggs). The rolls and croissants were very fresh. Tea and coffee was served fresh at the table.
I cannot comment on the village really, as we spent all the holiday on excursions (the Glacier and Bernina Express train trips are not to be missed). However, I can say that there is a general shop and a bakers within walking distance. Also I cannot comment on the nightlife as we had full sightseeing days and therefore didnt go out in the evenings. All I can say is the village is small and I think nightlife was minimal.
All in all, this is a wonderful family run hotel, which is operated in a very hands on and caring way. The owner was always present, at the front desk, welcoming you with a drink or helping to serve the food. This was a fantastic break which I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a quiet break in a small personal hotel and those who enjoy spectacular alpine views. The train station was a walkable distance away, albeit up a fairly steep incline). I would definitely return!
