We were looking for a quick week away in Europe at the end of the summer, somewhere neither of us had been and decided to try Montenegro. Well, how this little country remains largely undiscovered is a mystery. The scenery is amazing - there are mountains, fjords, sandy beaches, islands and ancient walled towns all to be explored. We stayed at Becici Sunset Apartments just outside Budva which we stumbled across on budvaholidays.co.uk. The apartments seem to be privately owned and so the furnishings are of a higher standard than you would expect with a fitted kitchen and designer furniture etc,. There's a pool on site and a huge sandy beach 5 minutes (downhill) walk away. You don't really need a car if you just want to relax as there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, but to explore Montenegro you will need one. We booked our flights to Tivat with nextescape.co.uk who fly you straight to Tivat airport and the drive to Budva takes 20 minutes. We plan to go back to Montenegro in May and would definitely recommend the apartments. Hopefully Montenegro won't get spoiled before then.
