We went to Mauritius on 29th October 2008 for 2 weeks holiday staying at Paul & Virginie Hotel in Grand Gaube. We had a lovely sight seeing tour in the hour drive to the hotel which is in the north. The hotel is fantastic, only 3* but we felt like king and queen with the... more

A relaxing time at Paul et Virginie
Paul et Virginie was ideal for the relaxing type of break we wanted. The hotel was clean and quiet and as others have commented, the staff of the hotel were willing to accommodate any reasonable requests made regarding food and service . We found the "all inclusive" option good value as we knew we would be mainly based around the hotel. The beach area is about 100 metres long and there were also sufficient sunbeds around the beautifully kept gardens and pools which prevented outbreaks of early morning territory wars found in many hotels.<br... more
Paul & Virginie
Whilst wholeheartedly agreeing with many previous reviews as to the pleasant sea-facing rooms, the friendliness of the staff always willing to please and the variety of menus, there are some downsides. One is it's situation just to the south east of the most northerly tip of the island at Cap Malheureux. As such the sea has some strong currents and is not the acquarmarine blue that one expects in a south sea tropical island.Other reviewers have mentioned the beach is small and stony underfoot (forewarned I took beach shoes), the hotel having... more
Incredible Paul et Virginie
Mauritius was a new destination for us but we have visited Seychelles, East and South Africa as well as lived in West Africa for three years. Of all these places and other hotels round the world where we have stayed, Paul et Virginie gets top marks. The hotel is set right on the sea-shore with ocean views from all rooms. Normally we do not prefer ground-floor rooms but here they were ideal for taking the shade on the patio when the sun was at its strongest. Pick-up at the airport was pre-organized and worked without... more
Amazing place!
Have just returned from two weeks at the fantastic Paul et Virginie. Had read all the reviews before we went and had to add mine. The people couldn't be finer - they're polite. friendly and remember who you are. Rooms are clean, well appointed and views are great. Restaurants are well serviced, food is very good and the menu wasn't repeated once over the fortnight. Bar was comfy and service excellent. Evening entertainment was very good - and that's from someone who really doesn't like entertainment! Grounds are beautifully... more
beautifull hotel in lovely setting
Just returned. As other reviews hotel lives up to its reputation. Staff very helpful and eager to please. We found the food a bit repetative except on certain days when you could choose from the whole menue, although food much better than we have had elswhere. Cocktails great and also the beer. Agree the sea is not great for swimming but lazing by the pool is justgreat. Be aware don`t be allocated a room in block six as this is the remotest block. We spent first night in third floor of block six bu requested a room change and were given a... more
Under rated hotel
The hotel is under rated the rooms are large very clean and all have a fantasic views over the indian ocean. the food is first class and the two weeks we were there the menu was never repeated and the views from the dining rooms were beautiful.the evening entertament was varied and first class. best to go all inclusive as you will find the food and drinks a tad expensive as you would expect from a hotel. there is no local bars etc in the area so you must make use of the all inclusive. which is not a problem. the nearest town is 15 minutes... more
Do as much or as little as you want
We have just returned from a ten night stay at Paul et Virginie and we would highly recommend it. The staff were excellent; very friendly and you do not have to lift a finger. We stayed here on all inclusive and I would definitely advise this, it is worth it just for afternoon tea with banana & honey pancakes. Both the restaurants were excellent (but a bit limited with choice), the second being more intimate and romantic. Our room was very nice; we had one on the ground floor, which was good as we could sit outside on the patio/garden... more
Fantastic Paul and Virginie
We have just returned from a fortnight at the Paul and Virginie Hotel which was absolutely fabulous. Although not a 5 star establishment, you could not want for anything more. There was a daily programme of organised events from 10am till 10pm, but you did not have to join in if you didn't want to. The food was top notch, breakfast buffet, lunch from a small menu and a choice in the evening. We were there for a fortnight and no entertainment was repeated and only one evening meal. Mauritius itself has little in the way of tourist... more
WHAT AN EXPERIENCE
we stayed from the 19-26th july, what an experience from the moment we got of our bus to be greeted by guest relations, we sat down and were given welcome drinks and a lovely refreshing towel, the hotel and facilities were then explained to us whilst taking us to our lovely room, very clean and spacious! We also were all inclusive and the restuarant and bar were fantastic, food was great and the friendly service was exceptional! the 2 pools were lovely - though cold so we didnt use them! the beach area was ok but very small! the only... more
This place was beyond our expectations
we spent 10 days at the paul et virginie hotel with our two teenage children. I was more impressed than I can say at the standard of care we received whilst we were there. The hotel was immaculate, the food was fantastic and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this holiday to anyone. Mauritius itself was an absolute delight and the people were so friendly and welcoming.
