An experience
This is definitely the place to stay to complete your experience in Cappadocia. We stayed here 3 nights in May, 2007; our cave room was in a group of 3 that shared a patio area. We enjoyed meeting the other travelers over a drink on the patio. The room was quite spacious and the bathroom was very modern. Our room had no window, so we left the door open some of the time while we were in the room just to get more fresh air (there is ventilation, but not enough for us). It was too breezy for dinner on the roof while we were there. We ate... more
Interesting Hotel
My husband and I visited Turkey for our honeymoon trip, and stayed for three nights at the Yunak Evleri. We had no idea what to expect from a cave hotel, even after checking out the website, so we were surprised with what we found. Our room was on the very top with a great view from our balcony. While it wasn't large, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very nice. There is also a CD player in each room for guest to enjoy. The staff was very nice. Dinner and breakfast were great, and we enjoyed eating on the roof... more
Great Place to Stay!
I had a great stay at the Yunak Evleri. The room was incredible and well worth the money. It is one of the most atmospheric places I've ever stayed. The hotel public areas are very stylish, service was good and the hotel meals (breakfast & dinner) were very nice. I had made a mistake in my booking and arrived ealier than expected. The staff was very accomodating, found alternative accomodations for the night they were fully booked, and promptly informed me when they had a cancellation that allowed me to remain at the Yunak Evleri for my... more
Pretty but ...
This is definitely a stylish, unique property in a good location. Having looked around other villages in Cappadocia I'd guess some of the hotels in Uchisar may have more interesting panoramic views but the outlook from Yunak Evleri is pretty good. One thing to know before booking is that the hotel only has four or five really great rooms with cave interiors built into the cliff and balconies with views. (We had one of these good rooms for three out of four nights). The remainder are either more subterreanean caves or built into... more
Management response from Yunak

As Yunak Houses, we were sad and disappointed about this particular review. That’s why we felt the need to respond to our guest’s comments about our hotel. Starting with the comment “One thing to know before booking is that the hotel only has four or five really great rooms with cave interiors built into the cliff and balconies with views”. As the manager, I was the person who checked our guest into their room and took care of them during their stay. They never visited any other room, let alone visit all the rooms in the hotel. Yunak Houses has 25 cave rooms for people who prefer to stay in a cave and 5 stone built rooms for our guests who like the setting of the hotel, but prefer to sleep in a room with higher ceilings and more light. The comment about Yunak having only “four or five really great rooms with cave interiors” is an unfortunate and false comment. Every room either has a balcony or a terrace for the guests to use. During spring and summer, as long as the wheather is good, we provide these balconies and terraces with chairs and tables and umbrellas. Yunak Houses has an English and a Japanese website since we have a very large international client base. This certainly does not mean the staff has to be speaking English and/or Japanese. Anywhere on both the websites, we do not promise “all English and/or Japanese speaking staff”. Even then, the management (manager, reception staff) obviously speak English and as the manager I am writing this management response in English. We had warned our guest the first day they arrived at our hotel that housekeeping does not speak English, but still they are trained to always smile and say “Good morning! Good afternoon” Good evening! Thank you! Hello!”to the guests, just very basic greeting sentences. That is why I always tell our foreign guests, if they need to speak to someone, they should either call me (the manager) at my extension or anyone at the reception. Despite this information, our guest insisted on trying to explain his hot water problem to the housekeeping instead of talking to the manager or the reception. When I was informed about the problem, our guest has been trying to tell the situation to all the wrong people, housekeeping, who reported me that the guest is asking for something, but they didn’t understand. So I immediately responded and talked to our guest. After talking to the person in charge of heating, it was realised that the heating for the water was turned 75 minutes later than the usual that day. I apologized to our guest for the inconvenience, but he told me he has been telling this problem to people for a long time and nothing had changed and that those people were looking at him with blank eyes. I reminded him that people were looking at him blank because they did not speak English (which he was informed about before). I told him the water should be hot in about 45minutes or an hour and apologised again on behalf of the hotel service. After 15 minutes, he was outside again complaining that the water was not hot enough. We had to speak to him one more time about the water reaching its comfortable hot temperature in one hour, but only 15 minutes had passed yet. For the next 3 days of their stay, our guest never responded to my or any of the staff’s greetings, be it at the restaurant during breakfast or in the entrance patio. We are sorry we had to explain everything in such detail, but we feel we were forced to defend ourselves. We never want to upset our guests, but mistakes happen and the important thing is to solve the problem and make up for it. Good service and the satisfaction of our guests are top priorities of our mission. If we fail to meet the demands, we can only try to improve ourselves to make the service better and better, as long as the intention of the critique is good.

Definitely an experience
had a wonderful 2 days in Cappadocia after a very long journey (Hong Kong to Heathrow to Istanbul to Cappadocia), arriving Yunak was such a treat. Check in was in the "music room" where I was offered a drink immediately (had a beer) and CDs to bring to my room. the room was in a "renovated" cave with lots of character! it was nice and warm, beautifully decorated, comfortable soft bedsheets, and very very quiet to sleep in. only meals I had at the hotel were breakfast so cannot really comment on the food, the hotel also has a... more
Fascinating experience
Just returned from two nights at the Yunak Houses and it definitely lived up to our expectations. We were in a premium class room, which was spacious and didn't feel closed in although it was up a couple of flights of stairs in one of the caves and only had a small window. Our travel agent had been there a couple of weeks before -- after our booking had been confirmed -- and cautioned that the regular rooms weren't quite up to speed, but we didn't see them ourselves. (She actually stayed in the Sacred Houses, which she liked even... more
The best hospitality ever experienced
Yunak Evleri is a very unique historical cave hotel that kepts its authenticity. It has many awards such as " One of 1000 places to see before you die ", " One of the best 101 boutique hotels of the world " by Tatler Travel Guide, " The second best hotel of the world " by Hideaway Report and many more. Yunak Evleri consists of 29 cave rooms dating back to 5th and 6th centuries and a 19th century Greek Mansion. The story of the word Yunak dates back to the old days when there was no running water in the houses and women had to do their... more
A wonderful Getaway!!!!!!
A group of girlfriends and I stayed at the Yunak Evleri Hotel on Feb 18th after a day trip to Cappadocia. Even though it was only for one night it was very memorable! We really wanted the experience of staying in a cave hotel and it felt somewhat like staying in an old medieval castle, very romantic ambience and I would DEFINATELY recomend it for honeymooners or couples. The cave room was secluded and had a nice view of the 'courtyard'. Definately high quality everything from the nice bed linens & towels to the real marble... more
Very pleasant and comfortable
This is the place for people who look for quality. The property is very well maintained. The housekeeping is excellent. The room temperature was just right. (We stayed three nights in Dec.) The ceiling height in the cave room won't make you feel claustrophobic. The staff are friendly and helpful. The deco is simply elegant. All these made us feel very pleasant and comfortable while staying at the hotel. The ambience of the interiors is enhanced by the dramatic backdrop of soaring cliff makes this place one of the prettiest sights... more
Unique Experience
The hotel was outstanding. The location was excellent and enabled us to get to the local sites easilly. The Staff was most helpful seeing that we had whatever we needed and even to the point of supplying a battery charger owned by the bellman. The food was good if you like Turkish food. The hotel is a little difficult to find but is worth effort. If we go back to Urgup we would stay no other place. If you are having difficulty making a decision on where to stay in the area you will not be disappointed if you choose this hotel.
