We returned from the Delfin Azul on the 21 July 2011. I can honestly say it was a great place for kids, the entertainment was good, kids disco, bingo and tribute bands, the price of the drinks let this down slightly! 3.50 for a fruit shoot! Our room was very disappointing,... more

Just come back from spending a week at the Delfin Azul. liked the hotel it was clean enough and the bed was comfy. Loved the pool, but was disappointed in the fact that you couldn't have an early morning swim... only open between 9.00am and 8.00 pm. The safes were very... more

cheap hotel-clean and friendly
we have just returned from the azul, first of all let me explain that this was just a week away before our main holiday to mexico in august, so all we wanted was somewhere clean and cheap, and thats exactly what this place is, the staff are friendly they work extremely hard to keep the place nice and clean, the entertainment at night was above average, however a few things let it down, the food we only managed to eat there twice we ate out the rest, not our type of food and when we did go alot of the adults were eating from the kids sections, the pool was a little disappointing pretty small although you can get a sunlounger at any time of day, there were that many lilos in it i couldnt see the water, my only other negative was the number of kids, this is a sky tours/thomsons family hotel, no problems with kids but most of them seem to be left to their own devices and create alot of noise especially at night, to finish this is a hotel that is clean and friendly and if your on a tight budget could be worth a visit for the night entertainment alone, however it was not for us, although alot of people seemed to enjoy it, i dont think we will return even though it only cost 100 pound per person per week.
clean hotel
jus t arrived back this week and what a lovely hotel it was, it is very much a family hotel and not for couples hotel is spotlessly clean the rooms are modern and freshly done up with balcony reception very helpful we asked for more pillows and within 5 min they were in our room, the breakfast buffet was good with great selection evening meal was a little bit boring so we went out couple of times but lot selection of salad soups etc which were nice, just lacked vegetables potatoes etc but something for all. hotel pool water cool but nice after the hot day sun, trampolines in hotel are 5 euro for 10 mins and pool tables 2 euro, entertainment very good staff all very helpful. no running for sunbeds here no towels put on at 7 am like other hotels, many sun beds and plenty of room, the beach only 5 min walk across main road and spar supermarket next door which was cheaper than all the others, would definatley come back here again
This hotel spoiled our holiday
Stayed here in mid august 2006.Never again will not recommend it to anyone. This holiday was overpriced for the standard of hotel, food and amenities. The rooms were tiny, you could here next doors room wall switches being put on as the walls were that thin. The sockets in rooms did not work. The air conditioning unit in the room was unreliable,as the temp.switch was dodgy. The lifts were old and useless. The balconys outside the rooms were tiny and decrepid/dangerous looking. The entertainment was very poor and repetitive whatever you saw in the first week you would also have in the 2nd week .The abba tribute band was good though. The drinks in the bar were very expensive, more so than the bar in the 4* bar we went into. Outside near the pool there was a trampoline for the kids you had to pay extra for your kids to go on it. The food was very poor quality, terrible!and the staff do not keep an eye on the dishes to see when they got empty so you had to wait and wait with food going cold on your plate for them to bring more out of the kitchen. The size of the dinner plates for the adults could be only described as plates normally used as side plates they were that small..(i think they knew nobody would like the low budget food and won't be eating it LOL)The children buffet was terrible very dry food for them. The waitresses were very miserable and i don,t think one of them smiled once in our whole stay, and when they wanted to clear plates from table they just intruded on your space and mumbled in spanish.if you wanted a drink with your meal you had to pay extra for it.A glass or jug should have been included with your evening meal! My kids attended one of the kids club sessions one night and i had to pay extra for that , it was chocolate night and i had to fork out for the chocolate approx 2 euros each! The bins outside near the entrance to hotel were disgusting always over flowing. The reception staff were friendly, courteous and professional though.Thomas cook sold me this hotel as wonderful and ideal for kids. What rubbish. To top of this holiday we left resort after 4pm to go to airport for the flight home , the minute we got off the coach thomson told us all we had an 8 hour delay, why did they not leave us in resort for longer they knew there was a delay because relatives back home knew before us from watching the flight times. Because of this i will not holiday with thomson again! The road from the hotel to the beach is a double dual carriageway, very busy and fast. It,s not illegal for the drivers not to stop at the zebra crossings and most don,t so take care. The potholes and big sawn off treetrunks in the paths are dangerous, something needs doing about them, nearly broke my neck one night and i hadn,t even had a drink...
Delfin Azul 2006
Just returned from delfin Azul on 01Oct Great Hotel good for families entertainment really good some good tribute bands on. children allowed in swimming pool with inflatables. Resturant food good and staff reall friendly. Only thing I could fault about hotel was that the drinks and food at the bar were expensive.Went to Pirate Adventure show excellent!!!! Marineland good but quite small Aqualand really good. market quite good but sells a lot of the same stuff (beware of the pickpockets.)
Great Vacation
Clean hotel, good food and restaurant, helpful staff, especially reception. Good pool, bar and entertainments area. Only downside was inconsiderate occupants of other rooms(slamming doors etc.in the early hours)and the and the lifts that certainly need upgrading. All things taken into consideration our party of 4 adults and 2 children(ages4 & 9) had a really wonderful time. Thank you all at the hotel.
holliday from hell
if i could of rated this hotel zero i would. the treatment from the staff and the cost is horriffic. on arriving on 18th aug at 4.30am we collapsed in our air conditioned room. the rooms are ok. on getting woken up 7.30am by inconsiderate familys shouting and screaming we got up out of bed. down stairs for breakfast we thought ugh no . the breakfast we could not eat.( over 14 days we had 2 meals in the hotel and ended up vomiting)we spent the rest of the holiday eating out. the first day we went for a safe key and had asked thomson for access to a fridge to store insulin as my wife is diabetic. wow hit with a £50 charge for these. the spirits are expensive and they use local spirits not the origional ..the entertainment is basic but over 2 weeks we never watched any as we had seen them before on other visits to alcudia. not the place for passion as the walls are paper thin. the noise when the cleaners are moving beds around the room above is terrible. not forgetting getting woken up by cleaners wanting to be in your room at 8am to clean. its supposed to be a holiday where you can have a lie in and chill. not at the delfin azul...the food is asbalute rubbish
Great Hotel
The Delfin Azul was a GREAT hotel everything you need to make you holiday run smooth. The food in the restuarant was very good allways a good range of differant thing to eat. In our party there was 7 six adults and one child. The pool was big enough for everyone to enjoy and even free scuba diving sessions for adults which was a great experience, Plenty of beds for everyone around the pool. The Hotel is situated 300m from the beach which was brilliant for 6 days and 1 day it had a bad stench of sulpher which was rancid. Near by you have three good bar Trotters bar which was run by Scotch Billy, Foxes bar which is a must for all leicester city fans and over the main road was the nicest little Bodega (spanish Bar) that served the best Tapas I have ever eaten everything is cooked fresh to order. The reception in the hotel has great help Maria Del Mar the main receptionist is beuatiful and willing to help whenever she could. In all the Holiday was great.
dirty and costly
The hotel azul looks good from the outside inside rooms are clean enough but pool areas have lot to be desired, mud and dirt were never washed or brushed away so slipping was a problem as well as trailing the dirt back into the pool, stick to the beach as it much cleaner and i would say safer for children Price in the hotel for food and drink are very expensive, compared to other hotels in the area. All staff at hotel were helpful in all ways as were the reps
Mixed feelings about this hotel
Just returned from a two week stay at the Delphin Azul in Alcudia, took our three children of ages from 18 mths to 10 years . My first impression of this hotel is a nice place with a clean entrance and close to the main road. The room we booked a year before and were surprised to find that we had not got two rooms together , I was told by Thompson rep that I should have given more notice to book together, over a year is not long enough ????? We asked if we could be given another room together as my Father and his wife were staying with us and looking after our two daughters, the receptionist said it would be impossible. However three days in the room next door became vacant and I asked again for the chance to have rooms together and they said not possible but we could move to another floor so we moved to the 4th floor and got rooms together. We should not have to do this one year in advance booking. Hotel is good size with lots to do for kids, the kids club is great for getting a break they are very friendly and outgoing and our three year old loved it. The pool is a decent size but you need to be up early to get a bed near the pool , watch out for the fashion show when they sell sarongs etc, my wife paid 12 euro for one and they are 5 euro at the Alcudia market. TOP TIP : A safe deposit box is 38 euro for two weeks but if you hire a fridge for 3 euro a day it has a key and a compartment in the top for your valuables etc to be locked in and obviously a fridge for those cold beers and wine . Alcudia is not what I remembered it is getting scruffy in parts and on a night quite loud. However if you go to Belle View they have some great family areas to go to. The entertainment is great the best night for us was The Jackson Five . Robbie Williams next and then the Parrot Show for the kids and Abba Again avoid the Karaoke . A lot of people including my father had upset stomachs and I mean a lot of people however we were okay but I avoided a lot of the meat in the restaurant. So be aware that a bug was going round when we were there last week. All in all would not go back to this hotel it is not the best but it has some good points overall 5 / 10
Brilliant
After reading the "dodge this hotel" review, we thought we'd made a mistake booking this hotel. We are so glad we did book here. Very friendly & helpful staff, great & varied food selection in the restaurant, featuring themed nights, 2nd portions don't seem a problem either. Good air conditioned rooms, which block out any noise from the "race track" when you close the doors. Entertainment throughout the day & at night with some great acts on. Hotel bar prices are above average, but you expect that from any hotel. Very clean & well maintained. Located in a quieter part of the resort, it's close to bars, shops & restaurants within walking distance. If you want a lively time, then there's the main central bars/restaurants/shops within a 10-15 minute walk. I'd recommend Cheers for families. Close to the beach, which is also very clean, plenty of things to do. We went on Submarine vision, a 2 hour trip for 16 Euro each, para sailing is good, but 40 Euro for 10 mins is a bit of a rip off. If you book your trips through Thomsons, be prepared to get ripped off. I paid 44Euro for a trip which had an entrance fee of only 20. There's plenty of companies offering trips at much lower prices, shop around if you can.
