Kismet Cave House

We spent 4 nights at the Kismet Cave Hotel recently. It was our first trip to Cappadocia - and we fell in love with the place, both the region and the hotel. We stayed in an arch room and a cave room for a total of 4 nights, but we would have happily stayed longer. The rooms are beautifully designed and fitted and the food is superb. We had an excellent and memorable experience at the Kismet. The room was cosy, newly constructed, with a beautiful barrel-vault cut into the rock and wood-burning fireplace (which we needed because it was cold in March). The owner Farouk could not have been more helpful, escorting us on tours and hikes of the surrounding area, taking us to sites we would not otherwise have found, and providing us with outstanding restaurant recommendations. Highly recommended.

Kismet Cave House is a peaceful and comfortable place to stay in Goreme. The service is excellent and the staff is very attentive and kind. My room on the ground floor was beautifully decorated, clean, and very comfortable. It was nice to stay in a room without a television! In fact, that made my stay more peaceful. It was also a pleasure hanging out with Faruk the owner in the reception room discussing Turkey, history of Goreme, and world politics. If you are looking for a place in Cappadocia, you will not be let down by Kismet Cave House. My wife and I are traveling Europe for 1 year and this was the most enjoyable place we stayed at so far. Faruk, the owner, is a genuinely good person. You will quickly realize that yourself if you stay there. I have to work while I travel and I have to say, it was pretty cool to have WIFI while staying in a *cave*. Our family of four (2 adults, 2 children ages 9 & 12) just returned from a lovely visit to Cappadocia. We stayed at Faruk Keles' Kismet Cave House Hotel. Faruk's hotel is barely a year old, and he has created a beautiful place. We stayed in the Lilac Suite, which has connecting rooms (one with a queen bed for us, one with twin beds for our children). Carved ceilings of stone, frescoes on the wall, antique, handpainted furniture, snow white linens , gorgeous ' embroidered bedspread, ensuite modern bath. A breakfast that's hearty and healthy and includes homemade cherry and pear preserves, wonderful homemade butter and cow's milk cheese. A host and hostess that are extremely hospitable and helpful, also very knowledgeable of all the wonderful sights and activities in the area. We loved this place! Staying in a cave house is such a cool experience to begin with, but I think Kismet takes it to another level. It was clean, comfortable, very reasonably priced, good breakfast, and Faruk and his staff/family/friends really make you feel right at home. Probably the best place we've stayed in 4 months of traveling!

For a true experience of Turkish hospitality I would thouroghly recommend this beautiful small hotel in Cappadocia. This was my family's first visit to Turkey and I booked this hotel through the internet. Since we are two adults and three kids we booked the family suite at a very reasonable rate. By the time we left this accommodation, Faruk felt more like a genuine friend than a hotel boss! His 'blonde lady' (cow) helps him to produce the best yogurt and cream that I have ever tasted. Add to this the range of homemade jams and sauces available for breakfast and I honestly think this place is a true contender for best breakfast in the world!!!!! We stayed at the Kismet Cave House for six nights in winter. The room was lovely and warm and beautifully presented. Faruk was incredibly friendly and helpful and his breakfasts were delicious with fresh yoghurt from his cow, home made preserves and fresh bread. Faruk recommended walks and day trips and shared apple tea with us as well as his local knowledge. He has spent several years building this property and the hard work has certainly paid off.
