Garden House Istanbul

My husband and I just returned from Istanbul.We were gone 3 weeks traveling throughout Turkey and ended our trip with two nights at this delightful hotel. Selcuk, the manager, was helpful and speaks English well. It is recently renovated, clean, close to the Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, and other must-see sights. Great Find! Chosing through the Internet one never knows what you are going to get. The Garden House was our home for 3 days at the beginning of our trip and 4 days after returning from an organized 14 day trip through western Istanbul. It was like returning home. Great hospitality, very friendly service, extremely clean rooms and Free Internet to top it all. We have just returned from a fascinating and enjoyable city break in Istanbul. We stayed at the Garden House Hotel which is in a quiet, authentic part of the old city and only a few minutes from the major sights such as the Blue Mosque. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful and made every guest feel special. The hotel is small, intimate and quaint and gives you a much more genuine experience of Istanbul than a larger hotel chain would. We had a wonderful seven-day family rendezvous at the Garden House Hotel – a lovely renovated Ottoman house. The location is perfect – a quiet area at the foot of the Hippodrome near the Blue Mosque and Haghia Sophia. It is within walking distance of most of the major sites – Topkapi Palace, the Bazaar Quarter, the Archaeological Museum, the Basilica Cistern, and many more. We loved the location in the old town which apart from being charming is also close to most of the major sights and easily reached on foot. We have returned from a week in Istanbul (September 2006) having stayed at The Garden House in the "old city", a small (12 room) hotel that I believe was rebuilt 1 yr. ago. It is nestled into the old city & one gets a "real feel" of what the area is all about. The managers, Murat & Selcuk were excellent & went out of their way to make you feel comfortable in all aspects of our stay. Stayed 3 nites We were picked up at the port and brought to our hotel. Checkin was smooth and we received a large room This is a very small hotel. Very clean!!! Staff reacted quickly and courteousely. Very helpful with respect to information regarding sites and restaurants Very close to all major sites in the old city. Located in a warren of narrow streets about five minutes from the hippodrome, the Garden House proved to be a welcome relief from the hawkers, touts, and crowds who populate the main hotel area. Our top-floor room was large, bright, and comfortable, with a huge, modern tied bathroom. Service was excellent from a friendly and accommodating staff. Booked a six night stay with hotel directly via web-form on hotel website. Thankfully received complimentary pickup from airport to hotel. Hotel is in old part of Istanbul, very near to lots of the major sightseeing attractions and on a very quiet street. Walking to the main Sultanmehet area takes about 5-10 mins. Simply outstanding! Staying in a piece of history, surrounded by the historical district! The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating and their hospitality unparalleled. This newly renovated hotel was beautiful and comfortable - affordable luxury! A few minutes walk from the Hippodrome, Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque.
