Jun 2010, nicole

Me, my partner and are two children stayed at this hotel for 10 nights at the beginning of june and we could'nt of asked for a nicer holiday. The hotel is very clean and all the staff are really nice. There is food on nearly all day long it was brilliant. There is a good selection of food, and all tasted very good. We would definately recommend this hotel. It was a great holiday.

we booked via on the beach and choose hotel santa ponsa park only to told 4 days before departure that it was closed.. and the alternative was the hotel pionero we agreed and what a peasure it was. The staff on reception were efficient and helpful, booked in and up to the roon within 10 mins of arriving.
The hotel was spotless, staff friendly and the food was what we expected, they cater for basic tastes but we ejoyed saled every day - fresh, meat hot and fruit, cakes and ice cream for afters.
The pool area is two pools with ample space whilst we were there, two sun terraces one was getting the sun until about 6pm in october fantastic.
yes you did have to wait at peak times to be served but everybody did and there was no complaints.
The entertainment was ok in a hi de hi way but the staff were energetic and got people involved.
The hotels location was its best feature 300 mts to the beach, then left for some good meals and quiet bars or right to the Irish and scotish bars for a good evenings singing and dancing to some excellent irish singers thanks Dubliner for a great night.....
we had 8 fantastic days and came home relaxed, tanned and with bigger bellys would recomend this hotel and resort for those lokking to choose what kind of day they want and nt to have it forced on them.

stayed at this hotel 22may2008 for 10 days.rooms allocated were dreadful at the back of the hotel looking on to the bins and air conditioning vents. the noise was terrible and we could not sleep. On complaining I was told the hotel was full and we could not change
until rooms became available. The reception staff WERE VERY RUDE AND UNHELPFUL.
This is a tired hotel in need of refurbishment. The staff are tired and cant be bothered.
I must say that the duty manager when I did get to see him was very helpful and had our rooms changed. I will now find it very hard to recommend this hotel.

On arrival at the pionero hotel we were told had to wait an hour for room which was not convenient at all. The food seemed ok but on the second day of our stay was son started vomitting and come day three myself and my husband where the same violently being sick. When I went to report this to hotel staff they just said that no one else had complained and what did they want them to do. Very helpful indeed! Would not return here and definately would not go half board. Hotel is nice, clean and in a good location but food poisoning guaranteed

On arrival at the Pionero hotel at...

On arrival at the Pionero hotel at 4:00am (without the accompanment of a Thomson Representative) we were greeted by the receptionist and informed that we had no room booked in our name. We were told there were no rooms in the hotel or in any of the sister hotels. We were then given a small room with a double bed on the ground floor at the back of the hotel and the patio door had been broken into and it would not lock. Reception staff in this situation were not helpful, other people staying in the hotel had said that this happens all the time so be aware that you may not have you room on arrival. When we were given a room (6 hours after the arrival) you couldn't fault it. It was spacious and comfortable. Breakfasts were at a good standard, evening meals were satisfactory. Also make sure that you ask for your deposit back on your safety deposit box as the staff did not offer us ours. Good location to the beach and bars would go back to Santa Ponsa but not to this hotel.

The first thing we saw on arriving at...

The first thing we saw on arriving at our hotel was a sign on the door saying it was closed (Santa Ponsa Park) but we had been moved to the Pionero next door, not a problem, lovely hotel.
Always clean everyone very friendly.
However the advertised mini disco never happened, apart from my daughter dancing on her own on stage every night and the advertised snacks were a lot less than usually available in all inclusive. The hot snacks, toasties etc were only available at lunch time, which was when the restaurant was open anyway, and the rest of the time it was help yourself to a few miserly things from a fridge by the bar.
Apart from that, great holiday! Food in restaurant always good, good variety and the resort was big enough to be interesting but not too lively perfect with a young family
We will definitely go back.

Really nice hotel cannot wait to return. Food choice and quality excellent. Really helpful friendly staff.
Room good quality and cleaned properly every day with change of towels etc.
Hotel area constantly being cleaned during day and evening. Swimming pool very clean and tidy. Free air conditioning in room.

We had rain for a few days indoor pool was then a bonus.

Shows in Hotel were ok but you had a choice to see another show in the sister Santa Ponsa hotel.
5 minute flat walk to beach. Very close to centre of Santa Ponsa but far enough away to avoid any noise. The Area of Santa Ponsa is suitable for all ages
We were 2 adults and 2 children accommodation was 2 rooms with a connecting door which gave us 2 Bathrooms etc.

I booked this holiday as a last minute deal through MyTravel. Despite there being less than 48 hours from the moment I booked to my arrival time, everything went according to plan - all transfers etc were seamless.
The hotel is now part of the Globales chain. My room was very clean with a balcony, TV, safe deposit box, air conditioning and a ceiling fan. The bathroom was equipped with shower, bath, sink, and toilet - again spotlessly clean.
The staff were very friendly and were even more so when you made an effort to speak a bit of basic Spanish. I'm sorry to say that some of the Brits at the hotel were extremely rude to the staff at times - assuming that they could all speak perfect English and made no allowances if they were misunderstood.
The food was excellent with a wide variety to choose from. In the seven days I was there, I never had the same meal twice.
The resort itself is a very pleasant place but could get quite busy with high numbers of tourists. However, only the shops and bars closest to the beach really cater for the tourists and it doesn't take much exploration to locate excellent Spanish restaurants and bars.
If the main beach is too busy for you, just follow the road which leads away from the left side of bay and after about 10 minutes walk, you'll find a lovely secluded little cove.
The travel rep was excellent and had a really thorough knowledge of the resort and also other good places to visit. She was always available at the hotel when the diary said she would be.
This hotel is a really good place to visit and caters for families as well as couples. There was a kid’s activity club running throughout the day and evening entertainment.
