Am I cool enough for the W?
from Ken_SF
I've stayed a couple of W hotels and I always get the same feeling-- that I am not nearly attractive or hip enough to be there. The new W Istanbul is really cool; all mod and modern. The room is unusual with the sink and vanity behind folding doors, the WC in a separate room and the marble shower with big "rain" head next to it. A flat panel TV sits behind dark glass so its invisible when its off. The lights are preprogrammed for settings like "work" and "wonder" and throughout the hotel there are all kinds of little touches to...

Night on the town
from byronandkaren
I admit up front that I got a special rate by virtue of working at the U.S. Consulate in Istanbul; however, this hotel is absolutely spectacular. My wife and I stayed at the W for one night, June 14th, the weekend before we moved away from Istanbul after living there for three years. The rooms are tremendously chic and modern, with rainforest showers, push-button lighting scheme selections, iPod docking stations, LCD televisions, and the same luxuries you would expect in any W hotel in the world like the amazingly comfortable bed. If you...

Morbide Charme, Impeccable Service
from campeao
I stayed at the hotel for two nights ini June 2008. I liked the stay because the concierge and the entire team gave outstanding service (how to make a local SIM card work, booking tennis-cum-companion etc.). The athmosphere is sleak modern on the one hand and oriental on the other. However, the lobby, the corridors and the rooms are definitely a bit too dark. the beds are perfect, but the integration of the bath room into the bed room without real separation lacks privacy. the price-quality ratio was however amazing
Such a gem
from travelgirrllll
We stayed at the W at the end of our honeymoon to Greece and Turkey. Considering it just opened two months ago, this place is shiny and new. The decor is fantastic, and everything from the rain shower to the bedding was luxurious. This hotel is hip and trendy- if this is not your thing, you would not be please here. The staff was great and eager to serve. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, making us feel like we were going home after a long day of sightseeing rather than going to a hotel. The real standout was Cem the concierge....

Lovely!
from seaviewasia
We stayed at W Istanbul for a long weekend over the May bank holiday. Very nice hotel with the emphasis on design and cool. Similar to rooms in NYC where I have been, if you are staying in a standard room, they can be a bit small. Perhaps for a weekend or short break but if you stay for a week I think it can be a bit cramp for 2. We stayed in room 323. Amazing bed - the W signature bed. Decor in the room was lovely and very usual way of creating a bathroom. Shower and toilet were in seperate rooms - like in a wardrobe as was the wash...

The Oasis of Istanbul
from SunnytheTraveller
We stayed at the W just after they opened. I have to say that the friendliness of the staff here is what really makes the hotel. From the moment you show up, they are on it. The rooms themselves are W cool, and the rainshowers are awesome. You have to enjoy the trendy hip scene to feel good in this hotel, because it is not for the tour groupers. I really do recommend the hotel restaurant, it's good asian fusion food, but not turkish if that is what you are looking for. The only knock I have on the hotel is that they are a little away...

Chic luxury
from 2Cows
The W Istanbul just opened on 4/1/08. The staff bend over backward to please, as they are looking to make a good impression. The conceirge, Cem, is super friendly and has a good working knowledge of restaurant options. The beds are really comfortable, and the rooms have rain showers. Two potential drawbacks: 1) The W is located outside of the New District, so you have to take a taxi to the nearest tram stop (or walk about 1 km), then take the tram into Sultanahmet where most of the popular sights are located. 2) Since the W is so...

Great and gorgeous but pricey boutique hotel
from mongaraito
Louisville, Kentucky-USA The W Hotel was without a doubt a luxurious experience. It is located on 'designer shop street' and close to major sights. The bed was soft and comfortable (compared to rock beds found in other Turkish hotels) and the room large with a lovely private terrace. We kicked off our 2 week Turkey trip here and then finished here before returning home and truly appreciated the comfort and luxury. We avoided breakfast (not included) and drinks at the hotel because prices were extravagant (I have stayed at W's all over...

Great new hotel
from sshartelg
My husband and I had a great time at the new W Istanbul. Our week-long stay started just 2 days after the hotel opened, so there were a few kinks still to be worked out, but nothing major and the staff seemed on top of things. The hotel is in a vibrant area of the new district (across the Galta Bridge from the Old Town, where many of Istanbul's famous sights are to be seen) and is about a 10-15 minute walk from the nearest tram stop, which proved to be a great way to get around the city. Our room was spacious and very attractive...

Worth a Stay
from kcnz
A one night stay at the W in Istanbul was a pleasant experience with only a couple of reservations overall. After negotiating the awful traffic that is the reality of Istanbul, the check in process was very smooth and the staff were professional and welcoming. Like other W Hotels it trades on its cutting edge style with the emphasis on quirkiness which if it works can be very refreshing; in this case it largely does. The room itself was on the small side and smaller than other rooms I have had in W Hotels, Seoul, Montreal and Sydney and not...
