The hotel must have the best spot in Santa Ponsa as the views are fantastic. It's a 5 minute walk to supermarket, bars and restaurants and 20 minute walk into Santa Ponsa itself. If you go to the local bars and restaurants which are 5 mins away you will find a place called The Square which has entertainment on everynight ie kids disco and bands on, mainly tribute acts but it's the best place to go if you have children and we went there everynight as opposed to going into Santa Ponsa itself.
The hotel staff were very friendly and recepition staff spoke good english. Swimming pools were excellent with views out to sea. The room was clean but the air con was a bit weak but that may off been just my room, the tv used to go one the blink after 5 minutes but i later found out you had to hire the remote control from reception! The restaurant was excellent, breakfast is a bit of a military operation ie finding a table getting your toast sorted with those bizarre toasting machines and your drinks before you even think about getting your food. At the evening meal 1830-2130 there is a very good choice of food and the desserts were plentiful and tasty, the waiters get you your drinks during evening meal and you pay them as drinks are not included in the half board package. Overall we had a fantastic holiday and would definitely go back to the Punta Del Mar.

Me and my boyfriend where here for the Easter weekend for 3 nights. Short taxi ride from the airport. Having read some reviews on other websites we knew we would have a good time.
First impressions of the hotel were clean and tidy. Staff in reception are very friendly and service is quick and fast. We were shown to our rooms down stairs in the hotel close to the main bar area. The rooms are very spacious most balconies look out over to the sea.
Hotel is centrally located up a hill. You are close to the Irish bars. Around the corner from the hotel you can find a few eateries that serve all international cuisines.
The food in the hotel is good compared to some buffet service restaurants that we have been to. The only downside is that there is not enough seating space for the amount of customer staying in the hotel. Be prepared for long queues to get a table.
Entertainment not as good as you think.
The hotel overlooks the sea, when you walk into reception you see big bay windows that over look the sea.

My wife and I stopped at Punta del Mar for a week in March. Had lovely weather, the hotel has amazing views from the reception area and the room we stopped in had a nice little balcony with nice sea views. We did have a few problems with our room, namely:
1) They were cold! Ok, this is March, but there seemed to be a draft coming from somewhere as on the first night I couldn’t sleep due to the cold. We had to put the heating on full blast all day and all night to get some kind of warmth in the place, and it wasn’t that cold outside (around 15 degrees). Maybe it’s the tiled floors everywhere that makes it freezing, like some kind of cheap cooling system for the summer.
2) Our bathroom roof collapsed on the second morning, it had a nasty sag in the centre that I noticed and when I returned the whole thing had fallen onto the open door which was keeping it propped up. I reported it to the reception staff and to be fair it was fixed when we returned in the evening, although they left the door unlooked and wide open! We had a lot of valuables in the room and we thought this particularly careless. I forgot to complain about this.
I thought the food was excellent, buffet style but quite a wide range that varied day by day, although I was getting a little tired of it towards the end of the week. Dining room often very crowded, and there are a lot of Germans staying at this hotel.
The only thing I really didn’t like was the lousy entertainment, they had poor quality cabaret singers/keyboard players on at night but they were so bad we went outside (quite nippy in March) rather than hear them.
One other thing I must mention, and this is nothing to do with the hotel, but one thing totally ruined our holiday in Mallorca. That was getting stopped by touts from Vacaciones Wide Plus, a "holiday club" scam operating in Palma. We got picked up in Palma Nova and were told we had won a free holiday. This "free" holiday almost left me in debt of £12,000. If these touts approach you DO NOT COMPLETE THEIR SURVEYS - ITS A CON! Do a search for "holiday club scam" on youtube if you want to know more about how to protect yourself from this con while you are in Mallorca, as you will almost certainly come across it.

The Punta del Mar Hotel is fortunate to boast one of the most fantastic settings- over looking the bay with wonderful sea views.
There are two large swimming pools on split levels and a baby pool. The pools are set in a relaxing and picturesque position and are well maintained.
Now for the downside to this hotel.
Overall we thought the food was adequate but there wasn't much choice, especially for children. The breakfasts were very good, especially the bacon. The bread rolls were really hard; it made me wonder if the chef was on commission for the local dentist.
We had a lovely view from our hotel bedroom, but that was the only good thing you could say about the room. We had to keep washing our feet if we had walked on the floor without shoes, the dust was awful. It took us a long time to pluck up enough courage to look under the beds and when we did ours fears were confirmed- lets put it this way, the only tip that we left the maid was - try a sweeping brush.
We did have a television in the room, but we couldn't find the remote control. It didn't matter because we found out that the T.V. wouldn't work unless you paid an extra 2 euros a day-we didn't. Night entertainment- oh dear!

Views from the hotel rooms are amazing the rooms were large, clean, but basic. TV did not have much choice.
However the towels supplied were to say the least thread bear and some with holes in them. Maid service each day. There was a smell coming back up the plug holes in the bathroom on the odd occasion, we just put the plug in and a bit water in the bath and sink when we were not using them which cured the problem.
The reception area is impressive and has two PC's to use (emails internet etc) 2 Euros for 20 mins. Which gave my 14 year old daughter contact to her friends back home.
Hotel is clean and tidy ,outside plants well maintained, some areas outside could have done with a lick of paint, Pool area was good being on two levels, when we were there it was very windy on a couple of days so we walked to the marina (monument)which was situated across the bay, views from here were good
Food was a buffet, it was generally OK and hot just up to 3 star standards, some nights I thought the choice was poor (could be my tastes) but the specials were good along with the sweet course, the waiters are busy and work hard.
Mixed menus to cater for Germans, Dutch tastes etc. but hotel guest were mainly British. No problem with sitting in the restaurant, although we went down late for dinner(8:00) I could imaging it would get busy early on and seating may be a problem.
Being a help yourself buffet some holiday makers did take rather large portions which did leave you with out some courses until they were replenished.
Entertainment in the hotel was basic, and the furniture did look dated and it had passed it use by date. We went to the Spanish square around 9/9:30 each night (10mins walk from hotel) to watch the live entertainment, mainly tribute bands--Beatles, Take That, West life, Abba and the Chinese Beijing acrobats which were amazing(I thought the best of the week) we were only there for One week and it seemed the same acts repeated the 2nd week.
The beach is 15-20 minutes’ walk from the hotel, but uphill coming back, may be a struggle during the hottest part of the season for some. Sunbed hire on the beach was 3 Euros and 3 Euros for an umbrella for the day.
The beach was well maintained and thought the wild parrots amusing. Water was clean and shallow. Lots of Irish Bars for some reason, some also gave live entertainment at night. If you like fast food Burger King and McDonalds were next to the beach, but we used the local restaurants for lunch which I never had any problems with.
Most of the shops are in this area.
There are no Spanish markets in this resort; you can get buses into Palma and other parts of the island. We never went on any of the trips purely because we were going on a cruise the following week and decided to chill out this week.
For the price I paid I would go back to this Hotel, but I could imagine 2 weeks there it may get a bit samey.

Our 10 year old sporty son is hard to please but the lovely, airy, clean dining room had something for him most nights.
The bar had the usual, plus entertainment that was OK.
The 2 pool complex was good enough for fun splash and sun bathing. Great views over the bay.
We probably spent a couple of days around the pools but others we walked down to the beach. It took about 20 mins but the sand was that soft and pretty clean.
There were plenty of bars to eat/drink in close to the beach. There was a pontoon you could swim out to, to dive off which was good fun.
The walk back up the hill changed when we discovered the Australian ice-cream shop which sold the best ice-cream I have ever tasted - so the slog up the hill passed quickly.
The hotel was very pleasant, reception, rooms, bar etc and the staff were OK.
The most noticeable thing was the views over the bay which meant that wherever you were in the hotel there was a feel good factor - much nicer than Rochdale.
Good swimming in the sea, pretty safe, lots of families, good resort.

Me and my girlfriend have been to this hotel and I must admit it was fantastic.
The service sometimes left a lot to be desired, but these guys work all day long and in the hot weather, so if you do go to this hotel give the waiters a tip.
The hotel beds, view and pool are top class.
Modern hotel with great views....

Modern hotel with great views. all rooms have sea view because of the way the hotel is built. All areas of the hotel were clean, tidy and well decorated. Staff were excellent, always pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. Food can sometimes be a bit ‘sameish’ but always good quality and hot (if it is supposed to be).
All in all a good 3 star hotel and we will definitely be back
