Just returned from 11 night stay, but had half our cash stolen from our LOCKED room safe. An investigation is ongoing, but we discovered that another couple had been burgled twice in the same week we were there. Something very dodgy is going on, but the staff say that... more

We stayed for 2 weeks at this hotel and found our time there very enjoyable. The sea-views are a sight to behold. This hotel is situated around a 15 minute walk from The Square in Santa Ponsa. Guests varied in age, from mid 20s up. (usually couples) I don't recommend this... more

Me and my boyfriend went to the Punta Del Mar in October 2008, paying approx £150 each for 4 nights Half Board. The hotel was great. We had the most fantastic view, it was amazing, and the views alone were worth every penny. The water was a bit cold at that time of the... more

We stayed at the Punta del Mar with our 3 children 17, 14, 5. The staff are very friendly, the food is nice and the rooms are spacious and clean. We were given 2 rooms next door to each other and both had really big balconies with breathtaking views. We were able to close... more

The hotel must have the best spot in Santa Ponsa as the views are fantastic. It's a 5 minute walk to supermarket, bars and restaurants and 20 minute walk into Santa Ponsa itself. If you go to the local bars and restaurants which are 5 mins away you will find a place called... more

very good hotel
I was very impressed with this hotel, with friendly staff and a lovely room overlooking the ocean. I wondered why I could not get tv to work, but you have to hire a remote, which I did not bother with, who wants to watch tv on holiday anyway; it is a fair walk to the centre which might be offputting to someone elderly or infirm. Good food and rooms cleaned spotlessly.
Loved Punta Del Mar
I went to Santa Ponsa in April this year with my mum, dad, sister, nephew and son. We had a fantastic time. The hotel was wonderful. We were allocated two suites which were beautifully laid out. They were very clean and nicely decorated. Cleaned every day, fresh towels every day and fresh sheets every three or four days. There are outer doors all along each corridor which open into two room doors which meant that we could close the outer door and the two boys could run between our rooms without disturbing anyone. The large patios with a sea view were great. We could sunbathe in peace. April being April meant that the outside pools were freezing but you couldn't really expect anything else at that time of year. The inside pool was lovely and warm and mostly deserted which meant I could teach my son to swim. The food was lovely. Breakfast consisted of a full selection of fry up ingredients, cereals, fruit, toast, croissants, meats, cheeses and pastries. Dinner was also an elaborate affair with soup, salads, mallorcan specialities, roasts, pizzas and the most amazing variety of desserts which our two boys took full advantage of. The waiting staff were worth their wait in gold. They were so helpful. The entertainers were fantastic they encouraged the children to join in and were very funny. I even won a bottle of champange. The bar snacks were delicious I can highly reccommend the ham and cheese pizza. The views from the suite are so beautiful I found myself out on the patio for ages. Santa Ponsa is a lovely town with very nice people. I can thouroughly recommend Granny's cafe for something to eat. If you have young children then a trip on submarine vision is a must. It is a glass bottomed boat and was really enjoyable. The trip took 2 hours and cost 12 euros for an adult and 6 for a child. It was well worth it as there were a variety of fish and octopus to be seen. We took trips to Palma Nova, Palma, Magaluf and Peguera all lovely places and not too far on the local bus service which had very cheap fares. There is a british owned pub in the top square called The Crown which is great if you have kids as they have a variety of board games for them to play while you get to realx and have a drink. Not that it's a very important point but they also give large measures along the lines of half a glass. Santa Ponsa is a town for all people. Thouroughly recommend the hotel and town and will definitely be going back...soon.
Great hotel
My husband and I have just returned from at two week holiday at this hotel. Our room on the first floor had great views across the bay as did all the hotel rooms. The room was a good size and was serviced daily. we had clean sheets on 3 occasions during our stay. The bathroom had an excellent over the bath shower, Plenty of very hot water. The food was of a good standard. There was a roast every night with a selection of beautifully cooked vegetables. if you prefered ther was plenty of other choices including fish dishes, local mallorcan speciality dishes, pizza and pasta.. The staff in the dining room were all very friendly and helpful. The indoor pool(only open til May) was small but nice and warm. There was also a sauna but we did not try this. The outdoor pools looked clean and were open from 10am til 7pm. the bar served a small selection of food during the day including toasted sandwiches and pizza. All members of staff were very helpful and pleasant. the reception area was clean with plenty of sitting areas and great sea views. my only suggestion would be for the hotel to ensure english translations of tourist information brochures as it appeares they were only in german. Having said that the staff were acle to offer advise and there is a well stocked information centre in Santa Ponsa town. Overall a great holiday, good value for money and very nice people.
views from room were fab unfortunately our room very drab.
The view from our hotel room was brilliant however the state of the room was in desperate need of redecorating especially the mouldy areas!!! The apartment was spacious with two bathrooms useful with a husband and two kids but the state of them were truly awful. We stayed on a B&B tariff but only had breakfast once the restaurant was small , poky and very crowded even disorganised think it worse we ever had food not even worth mentioning. The pool area is fairly small and around bar and pool area it looked like it needed a good clean, also VERY VERY slippy we all had to be careful. Entertainment was on offer, again very poor really for height of season, however it is located just a short walk (if you can manage the slippy, dislodged pathway) down to 'the square' where there is entertainment for the kids early evening with disco and face painting etc then further entertainment for adults later in the evening.Loads of bars here as well.A further walk down to the centre of santa ponsa had some nice restaurants you should really try the mexican and indian. The beach at santa ponsa is nice we spent most of our days here as we felt the pool was poor,it ok walking there but hard work coming back up the hills, taxis needed for the faint hearted.Lots of different shops and bars and restaurants in santa ponsa but would definately not return or reccomend the punta.
Can't recommend highly enough
Our 2 week stay was fantastic. We would definitely class the hotel 'excellent' in every way. Friendly staff. Absolutely amazing food. Room cleaned every day to a high standard. Brilliant location. We can't recommend the hotel highly enough!
great hotel
just got back what a wonderfull hotel food lovely staff always happy , rooms clean and tidy cant wait to go back views breath taking
Location, location, location!
We spent 7 days at the Punta Del Mar at the begining of October 2005. The rooms were a little on the small side, but ample for 2 people. The maid service was exceptional, cleaned everyday to a high standard. All the rooms at the hotel offer fantastic sea views over the bay. There are plenty of lounge areas in the hotel, a TV room and bar area. The bar serves a good selection of snacks throughout the day at reasonable prices. The pool itself is great, set in a spectacular place over looking the sea - although VERY cold!, but there is also a heated indoor pool with sauna - perfect for the cooler months. The restuarant was very hectic, although the waiter staff did there best to keep everything running smoothly. The food was varied, plenty of choice for breakfast (served 8:00 - 10:00) & dinner (18:30 - 21:30). I would recommend trying to avoid meal times between 19:00 - 20:00 as this was the busiest time - we ate out twice during our stay. The situation of the hotel is not ideal for older travellers as it is approx. 15-20 minute walk to the centre of Santa Ponca, but as we like walking it was perfect & if it was any where else it would not be able to boast such spectacular views. I would definately recommend the Punta del Mar.
great views-shame about the hill walk!
We travelled to this hotel with FlyGlobespan for a 7 day break.Returned home on 6th.Oct.Most of our stay was fine weatherwise but there were a few heavy downbursts of rain -maybe that,s what to expect in October? However,to reach the hotel, you have to go down several tiled stairs and these could have been hazardous as the rainwater was never swept away, dangerous!Particularly at this time of the year, there were several more"mature"guests, not always the sharpest on their toes! For a 3***hotel,it was a bit disappointing to have to pay a deposit +3 euros a day to hire the remote control for the telly.(same if you wanted the use of the big one on the 2nd.floor)There was no radio/alarm in bedrooms nor a hairdryer, both items we have (mistakenly?)come to expect.Quite important as the airlines are increasingly becoming fussy about holidaymakers packing everything + plus the kitchen sink in their luggage! Food was fine, main complaint I felt was OverSalting - my arteries wouldn't have stood much more! Also, would agree about the French guests - a lot of them seemed extremely rude and very pushy, particularly in the dining room. The other nationalities were not like that. On reflection, not sure if we would stay there again, too far from the action (entertainment in Spanish Sq.finishes at end of Sept)and That Hill-a killer every day!Must be getting old,eh.
Great Location
We have just returned from 10 days at the Punta Del Mar,&we must admit this is THE cleanest hotel we have ever stayed in,the rooms, pool area, reception area&dining room were absolutely spotless, not only that no insects etc,(which pleased my wife as she is terrified of them). The rooms altough quite small are suitable for your needs, the view from the rooms is amazing across the bay&out to sea,the shower in the room was excellent, always hot water&powerful!!!.The pool area was excellently situated plenty of room & sun all day,the pool was a bit on the cold side though!!!The food was typical hotel buffet style,a nice touch was the meat carvery every night, plenty of choice&good quality, also a bonus of back bacon at breakfast, the hotel is situated about a 5 min walk from 'The Square' which has a number of pubs&nightly entertainment, more suited for families, but everyone welcome,a 15 min walk from hotel takes into centre of santa ponsa&also to the beach, the centre has many pubs, quite a mixed crowd in the centre at nights, not all the club 18-30 squads(go to magaluf if thats ur thing)never saw any trouble at nights & no major hasle from the pub PR's. We would definitely recommend this hotel&resort to anyone thinking of going to majorca
fantastic break
My husband and I stayed at the Punta Del Mar in May this year, only for 4 nights. We booked with Flyglobespan last minute. Our only complain was that we didnt stay there for longer. The views across the bay are fantastic, everymorning it was a pleasure to open the curtains in our room. The pool was lovely, 2 tier swimming pool with waterfall feature in the middle and there was always beds available round the pool. There seemed to be alot of French visitors who were sometimes quite rude in the restaurant. All staff were very friendly. The entertainment had not started when we were there but hotel is only a short walk from the main square where there was lots of things going on. We wanted a short relaxing break and thats what we got at this hotel, we are booking to go back next year with friends.
