Fantastic staff
Very well situated near sights, restaurants, bars and communications. Most of all, fantastic staff who advise you on stuff to do, hang out in the kitchen and even go out with you in the evening. Rooms are small, but clean and the beds are nice and firm.
Home Away From Home
One of the hard things about traveling is not feeling that you have a place to come "home" to, but while staying at the Tulip Guesthouse I really did feel that I had a welcoming and lovely home base in Istanbul. I chose it because of the lovely pictures of people in the garden and with their friends or family in the common room. And I also chose it because the reviews said that Emrah and his staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. And I was more than happy! The location is perfect, the views of the bay mesmerizing, the... more

Cosy, hospitable & helpful
It's less than a week that I'm back home, so the memory is still fresh. I would like to thank the managers, Emrah (who never complained as I woke him up late at night, as my flight was delayed) and Metin, for the non-intrusive service. The guesthouse is run by these two brothers who are awfully cheerful and helpful to the guests, but don't overdo with offering entertainment or excursions (though it is possible to be arranged with their help). I stayed three nights in a single room with a private bathroom on the first floor, right behind... more
expensive hostel, nothing more
My friends booked this "hotel" through vener.com. The rate was 45 euro per night, and you get a bedroom. The celing light - a bare light bulb. The painted walls dripped into the woodwork. I was on the first floor, behind the check in desk. across the hall was a room with rows of bunk beds, and in the basement is the shared toilet of everyone. The single shower is also in the basement - it was too scary to open the door, so I didn't shower. The noise comes at you from every direction, and the party tends to go late in the night - I'm... more
Tulip rocks!
One of the best hostels/guesthouses I've ever stayed at! Metin and Emrah are great fun, hospitable, and generous in their tasty breakfasts, extras like internet, time and knowledge of Istanbul. The location is also excellent. Being just behind the main strip of hotels in Sultahnamet, it's close to the action but much quieter. I even saw dolphins swimming in the Bosphorous out the kitchen window one breakfast! The rooms aren't huge, but they're clean and bright with 24/7 hot water showers. Wonderfully warm environment, I'll... more
Great value for money!
My fiance and I stayed here for 4 nights and had a great time. The guesthouse is situated in the historic old city, only several minutes walk from Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, restaurants and shopping. Although the many hostels nearby can get quite noisy, the Tulip Guesthouse was very quiet, even during the weekend. We stayed in a double room and although small and basic, it was very clean and functional. That said, Turkey in July is very hot and the temperature was occasionally too much for the A/C in our room to handle. It cools down... more
Great Value
Emrah & Metin were excellent hosts. Staying here is like crashing at a mates place. Our room was on the ground floor & was small but clean & comfortable. The location was excellent with a heap of restaurants and bars nearby and all the tourist attractions in town a short walk away. Breakfast was traditional turkish and very good. Free internet is a huge bonus. We used the shared showers which were cramped a bit, but clean and no worse than most hostels and definately for Turkey. The only problem we had was a group of people... more
Not what i expected, it was so much better
I've been well informed about the Tulip guesthouse when i arrived there. I read many reviews, all of them very favourable. But i still got surprised greatly. I just didn't expect this high grade of hospitability and friendship from Emrah, the host, the employees and their friends. The guesthouse is located in a small sidealley, next to a street with a very high concentration of hotels, hostels and guesthouses (Must be about 2/3rd of the accomodation in Sultan Ahmet, the old city). That street is very busy, and loud. However it is way... more
Had a terrific time at the Tulip Guesthouse
Tulip Guesthouse in Istanbul, Turkey was the last stop for me and my friends during our 2-week trip in Turkey and I can say with great confidence that it was the most outstanding guesthouse by far. The guesthouse itself and its historic surroundings were fabulous and we had never experienced such great service before. The managers of the guesthouse were really easygoing and friendly and they made sure that our every need was taken care of without any ado. Whether we needed information on tours/restaurants&cafes/sightseeing/booking/making... more
