I miss the Sunshine Holiday Resort!
from sunshineHertordshire
Just arrived home and wish I had booked 2 weeks instead of 1!! This holiday will stay in my memory forever, for all the right reasons The staff were so friendly, especially the Manageress and the bar staff. They constantly kept everybody smililng and relaxed and would do anything to make our stay enjoyable. The rooms are spotless and well equipped with fridge, air conditioning and LCD TV. The edge of the town is just 5 minutes walk away and it's about 15 to the busier part which is perfect if you're looking for a chilled out break with everything in easy reach of where you're staying There were plenty of trips available, but i loved the resort so much I spent most days lazing by the pool, chatting with the other guests I'd made friends with. If you go to Turkey, you must try the Turkish bath and massage - it's fantastic value. I wish I was back there now, I miss the people, the sun and the relaxed and fun atmosphere of the Sunshine Holiday Resort
Brilliant holiday

We have just come back from sunshine hotel and cannot wait to go back. It is a very good 3 star hotel, lovely and clean, fantastic food with a very good up and coming chef. The pool area is lovely, rooms are clean and fresh, but the biggest bonus to this hotel is the staff. The manageress, bar staff, chef, reception, cleaners, everyone were so nice.......we made very good friends there whom we are staying in contact with. The walk into town is a lovely walk, but of course you do have to pick a time in the evening when it is cooler........you get all you deserve if you try walking down in the midday sun........we regularly walked into town and enjoyed the stroll, generally getting a taxi back if we needed to. The prices at the hotel are excellent value.........you can't moan at £1.50 a pint...........spirits are generally expensive, but look out for the specials on cocktails, which worked out about £3.00 and were lovely. The other guests that stayed when we were there were as happy with the hotel as we were. There were a few that turned up as we were in our last few days that were looking for faults, expecting the turkish to speak perfect english. they were generally very good at english, but expect if you go to turkey the locals will generally speak turkish as their first language! Absolutely would recommend this hotel, we're going back next year for 2 wks!

Sunshine is awesome

I've been to Sunshine with my boyfriend. The hotel is located at the bottom of the Baba Mountain where you can get the view of makis, special flora of the Mediterrean area. We arrived early to the hotel and the staff quickly gave us our room. I wanted the best room, of course; but it turned out that all the rooms have this beautiful view of the pool. You get to have a chance to eat traditional Turkish food every-day at the hotel and it is great. It is true that Sunshine is a little bit away from the sea but we learned that they hired free vehicles which come whenever you want to take you to the beach. The most crucial thing however was the attitude of staff. They were so nice and friendly, and did whatever they could to help us. That is why, I recommend it to everybody who would like to experience Fethiye.
''Never Again !''

We have been holidaying in Turkey for the last 20 years, usually going twice a year, and have been just about everywhere. This hotel is new, rooms were very clean, and pool etc,was great and just like in photos. However, the location is completely out of the way.The hotels own website describes it as a 5 minute walk to the busy town of Hisaronu!!.Totally untrue. With our children,we walked to Hisaronu each night ,and it was approx 45 minutes each way.Going it is all downhill, but coming back ,especially in heat of day was murder. No dolmuses run to hotel,so you have to walk a min of 15 minutes to main road, along a dirt track.Taxis each night to go back cost approx £5.00 one way.On our arrival,no one helped with our luggage and we were on the top floor. We were also missing a bed for the first evening, and asked if we could sleep our 3 children on 2 beds pushed together!!.Prices at hotel were extremely expensive. If you order a pizza ,it comes from the town, and although delivered free, they charge you exactly double the usual price,so beware.Water melon was over a pound for a slice!! .Two families that arrived during our stay, both left, due to unsuitability of location etc, preferring to pay more, and go elsewhere.Breakfast was hit and miss, and definitely self service. Some days better than others. No juice for children. Also one day milk on childrens cereal was gone off.At our request ,mosquito nets were placed on all windows a few days after we arrived,as we were bitten a lot.Fridges were initially in our room ,then taken away,as owner did not want people purchasing drinks elsewhere.A/C was also charged for additionally. If you have never been to Turkey before you might be forgiven for thinking it OK,but please believe me,there are far better places to go.Overall,a disappointing holiday

First of all I would like to express that I have measured again the distance of our hotel to the upper and lower streets and center of Hisaronu just to have the exact figures in hand, since in Turkey we call distances by length not time or duration of walk we just tried to sound English when we put the distance in minutes in our website a mistake we will be amending,
Briefly the hotel is away from the upper street by 450 m the last 300 m of which is unmade, the distance to the lower street where the shuttle bus services pass is about 750 m, the center of Hisaronu where all shops and clubs are situated is less than 1.5 km away. The last 500m of the way is a bit steep but the hotel is not on a mountain and there are many hotels previously built and run around us the nearest one is just 50 m away.
This review was written by a family with 4 children 2 of them twins under 2 years old, obviously they can not walk the road in 10 minutes. This family asked for a connected room on arrival but we had not assigned any connected rooms to the agent they came through and we had not any availability to meet this especial request at the time, so began the dissatisfaction which led to hit us on the only downside we have and the amendment of which is beyond of our will.
We hosted many mature families with small children and old couples one of them was a couple of 81 and 83 years old who left satisfied and were happy with us and our location.
In fact being away from the noisy center of Hisaronu is an upside for many of our guests and if someone critisizes honestly the fact that no one would walk this road in mid noon where the temperature is 40 degrees during July and August must be kept in mind, but waking it downhill in the evening is even a refreshing .
A taxi drive on way back may be needed and this costs exactly £ 3 not a penny more, we may refund any guest who pays more provided asking for advise and bargain beforehand. In this case the husband of the reviewer was a Turkish man with UK citizenship who has a good knowledge about all matters of Turkey and how things as bargaining are necessary to avoid cheating and misleading at every step.
As regarding the mosquito nets we have been waiting for appreciation instead, as we fitted all the windows of all the rooms and baths with mosquito nets adding another unique characteristic to our hotel as no other hotel in the area can compete as it is regarding use of only bottled water in cooking, use of hygiene disinfection in water supply, use of electricity heating to support solar heating system, things that usually are not advertised but affect the quality of service.
We believe that there is no limit in service and we try our best to improve our quality as a new hotel, a dissatisfaction in a simple case may ruin a guests' holiday and an establishments' reputation as well and may lead to an unbalanced and unfair thorough judgement.
Best Regards,
ihsan caglar

Wow! we've landed in heaven!

If you are looking for a smart hotel, friendly and entertaining staff, freshly cooked local food, stunning views and relaxation around a delightful pool then, unfortunately for us, you have just found it. I searched and searched for this holiday, trying to find the right one to satisfy a teenagers requirements, namely clubs, bars, pools and beaches, as well as peace and quite for my husband and I. Never been to Turkey before and when I discovered this hotel on the internet I was really unsure about it, it looked to good to be true! Because it was new there were no reviews, the travel companies couldn't provide any more info so I decided to contact the Hotel direct through their website. I exchanged e-mails and phone calls with the owner, we laughed about my communications when he greeted me and my family at the hotel, he seemed to think I was good at negotiating the price! Well, we were all really delighted with our stay at Sunshine Holiday Resort Hotel - when you tell people you are going to Turkey they often say to you 'the staff can't do enough for you', that was never more true than at this Hotel. All the staff are so friendly, Tom (Tom Cruse) and J Lo behind the bar made us laugh, the owners daughter helped us book some fantastic trips, the rooms were cleaned everyday, the view, particularly the sunset - still on my husbands phone - fantastic. My daugher and her friend had the time of their life in Hisoronu - the staff in the clubs and bars were such fun and entertaining, they love to dance, on the bar even on the roof! The girls loved Zombie Bar we like the FEZ bar but there's so many to choose from - the down side is that the real clubbing starts quite late - be parepared to alter you body clock! We visited Olu Deniz beach - very nice but you need to walk over pebbles to get into the water, great for watching the Paragliders. We also went to another private beach through the hotel, transport provided which was sandy and a bit like being around a lake - it is actually at the back of the Blue Lagoon. The only negative is that it is quite a walk into Hisoronu, not so far into Ovacik but the excitement is in Hisoronu, Oludeniz and Fethiye. You can travel by Dolmus or Taxi quite cheaply. I could go on for ever, when I can get some help I will put some photo's on but it is as it appears on the website - we loved this hotel and the people. We will be back!
A bit out of the way
from debsprice
This hotel is situated 500m up a steep mountain road there is no bus to the bottom or back up so unless you are extremely fit you will need extra money for taxis. Once you get to the bottom, of the hill it is another 20 minute walk to the centre of hissanoru which is a lovely town with plenty of shops bars and resturants. There is also a market on a monday in the centre. You cannot get to the beach from this hotel unless you get a taxi which will cost £8.00 or you can get the dolmus but it is a bit of a hike to be honest. This hotel is not really suitable for young children as there are steps to most of the rooms and it doesnt really cater for children (no highchairs) difficult to get around with a buggy. The rooms are nice and clean and the housekeeping is to a high standard. The pool area and bar is nice and relaxing with a nice atmosphere during the day but there is no entertainment of a night time so you do have to venture into town. The food at this hotel is not very good breakfast is bread, fruit, salad no juice. The menu is not up to much either the food was laughable with a very small dining area. It is only a new hotel and i think they have a lot to learn before they will have satisfied customers. We did get a very cheap deal to this hotel and if you have found a bargain i would advise you to try it as long as you dont mind being no where near the town or the beach. There is not a childrens playground but if you have been on the website it states that there is. It does look amazing on the website but it is a little deceiving. All rooms do have plasmas and a fridge and air con which u can pay for. If i was to stay in the area again i would make sure i was in the centre of hissanouru or olu deniz where the beach is.
Good overall

Stayed in the Sunshine Resort in Ovacik in July 2007. Had booked the Celay hotel through a last minute deal but were relocated on arrival at the airport. We were one of the first few guests in the hotel as it had just opened. Travelled with family of two children aged 15 and 12. Rooms were very modern with LCD tv and fridge (which you had to pay for.) Rooms were cleaned regularly - found that if you left towels outside the room, that initiated rooms being cleaned. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was traditional turkish, nice but repetitive. Pool was fab and as the hotel was relatively quiet when we were there there was no prob getting sun beds etc. Only complaint was walk to/from main road which was up a significantly steep dust road which got tiring for the kids in the hot weather. Overall though holiday was really enjoyable and we would recommend this hotel for other travellers.
Great mansion , definately recomment it to all

Nothing can be better then a nice, beautiful, lovely resort like this one, and a lovely price also, it lies between fethiye and oludeniz, in ovacik. beautifl rooms and excellent apartments, wonderful staff and you name it, big swimming pools, nice room jacuzzis, plasma tvs, excellent buffent in resturant, and their staff treat you like family we loved our stay at the resort and plan to stay longer our next trip.
Fantastic

My Partner and I stayed here last summer, itr was newly opened .. the staff were funny and polite. The hotel was very very clean The rooms were very modern, they had a fridge and a small LCD tv. The rooms got cleaned nearly everyday with fresh towels. They also have a/c if needed, however even though it was 40'c we didnt need it on. The pool was really nice and big - lots of sun loungers You can have a tab for food and drink which makes things easy - you need to keep an eye on how much your spending though. Food was really nice however when i asked for potato skins they really mean just potato skins literally lol! We are both in our 20's and it suited us fine quite quiet hotel - met lots of people similar age however mixed age groups. It is situated 10 min walk from town where it is quite busy markets, shops and restaurants - the hotel is walking distance from walking park - best to go in evening cheaper to get in and not loads of things to do but kids will love it. You can catch a dolmus(mini bus) at the bottom of the hill to go to Olu deniz which is where the lagoon is - lovely. The trips i would recommend are scuba diving, 10 islands turtle beach- didnt see turtles but lovely beach with big waves. Mud baths.

My boyfriend and I went to stay at the Sunshine Holiday Resort towards the end of July for 11 nights, we booked through Holidaymate quite last minute and did get a very cheap deal. Didn't find the receptionist overly friendly and inviting on our arrival and this particular... more
