Sultan Cave Suites

My wife, teenage son and I just returned from a two week stay in Turkey during which we spent two nights and three days in Cappadocia. Cappadocia was one of the highlights of our trip. Turkish Heritage Travels owns the Sultan Cave Suites and worked with us on various tours. The tours were excellent but the Sultan Cave Suites just ok. I don't agree with some of the previous reviews and that may be due to the time elapsed. There was a lobby/office-- I waited there twice for my tour pickup. It is very close to the Kelebek hotel, but I never felt that I was confused about which hotel i was in. The breakfast area and restaurant were nicely set up. This hotel was unusual and if you are expecting 4 plaster walls like a holiday inn, you will be disappointed. I arranged my stay at the Sultan Caves Hotel in spectacular Goreme through Turkish Heritage Travel (as recommended by Lonely Planet) and they were faultless, replying to all emails without delay and putting together a good package of hotel and tours for me. The Sultan Caves Hotel has a link with Turkish Heritage Travel and also with the adjoining Kelebek Caves Hotel. We had a fantastic stay at Sultan Cave Suites. The suite was very nice, simple and elegant. You can't beat the location, with superb views in both front and back, less than 10 minutes walk to the heart of Goreme village, and a short walk to many of the hiking trails. The service was exceptional, the restaurant was excellent and the Hamam was a a real treat.

We had no idea what expect when we arrived in Goreme, but it quickly became clear that Sultan Cave Suites is one of the best deals in town with a beautiful location, charming rooms and very responsive staff. Mehmet, the owner, has dedicated himself to making this hotel a comfortable place to stay and he has succeeded marvelously. we were disappointed when our travel agent could not book us a room at the kelebek hotel and pension during our recent trip to cappadocia. however, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that the sultan cave suites was designed and is managed by the same owner. basically, the sultan cave suites is an extension of kelebek; they are located right next to each other. first, the service was extremely professional. everything i needed was performed with grace and calm. the views from the room are spectacular as the hotel is located on... more

the hotel was simple, in a setting that is filled with historic and natural elements. the well known chimneys of cappadocia have been highlighted throughout the city. the hotel itself was more like a family owned b&b. however, sultan cave suites is one of three hotels combined together, hence the hotel facilities and breakfast/dining areas weren't as sufficient for guests. Especially when it came to breakfast, the restaurant manager wanted to charge us 5euros per egg, we thought the restaurant manager "named: mehmet" was unreasonable... more

Just amazing views from a one or two bedroom cave suite. The evening we arrived after an early morning flight from Istanbul and day long tour in Cappodicia, we found no water in the room at all under the shower. There is no on-site office and it took me half an hour to find someone who works for the hotel. The hotel has no on-site lobby or office. I was not expecting this after paying top price for this hotel.

Did a lot of serious research on trying to find a suitable Cave Hotel to stay in the region....checked out the internet high & low...lo & behold, stumble upon the Sultans of Swing....a fairly new Caves Suites hotel, which is part of the Kelebek Caves hotel...as a matter of fact, barring the living quarters, all other aspects are shared with the Kelebek i.e. Restaurant, Bar, Administration , Cleaning Staff etc.....if you check out the reviews of the Kelebek, you will see that it too has a very high rating !!! Wonderful addittion to the Kelebek group of hotels. No restaurant attached, however you are looked after by the other two hotels close by. Just amazing views from a one or two bedroom cave suite. The suite complex is still under construction, and once it is all finished it will be just perfect. Plenty of stairs to climb though so it could be tough going for anyone who is not so fit. This applies to the whole of Cappadoccia, though the views are worth any effort you can put in. Very helpful staff. Great people. What a unique... more
