Back again this year to see the modest refurbishment that has upgraded/refreshed the hotel. The exterior has been repainted in red and cream and internally it appeared the bedroom furnture had been modernised with a coat of white paint. Main pool now seems to be salt water rather than fresh but toddler pool still 'fresh' water!
The new Spa looks great but we didn't get chance to use it. Have to come back again in the winter and without kids! The restuarant hasn't changed. Coffee and juice virtually undrinkable but food fine otherwise.
Another great holiday.

Stayed here between 28th July and 1st August. Hotel was fully air conditioned, very clean indeed, comfortable beds, clean white towels every day, pool area was pleasant with more than enough beds, staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast choice was excellent, SPA with accompanying treatments was fantastic. Overall we would go back to this hotel. Exceptional value and only 10 mins to the marina.

Clean hotel in very quiet surroundings. Bedrooms need updating. Breakfast very good - lots of choices. Pool area clean & sunbeds always available which is a plus! Hotel staff all very miserable especially cafe staff who played the same CD day after day - you always got your drink slammed down infront of you & change quickly followed with another slam :-(
On the whole its definately not worth the 4 stars its given & I wont be making a return journey.

Absolutely fantastic. We actually went on our honeymoon but took the kids!! My daughter is disabled and they catered for our every need. It didn't cost much from the airport in a taxi about 30 euro(saves on transfer fees). The bedroom was HUGE. The double bed was more like two english double beds put together. Air conditioning was a bonus. Food was brilliant. Everything you could imagine, cereal, fry up,fruit, a million different types of bread products (croissants, bagels etc). The staff were very friendly and made us feel most welcome. The hotel was beautiful. I was worried about stomach bugs, etc but it was immaculate and very clean (as was most of Majorca)The pool was brilliant. You were able to sit around it, no battling for sunbeds. The pool staff ensured it was clean and safe. This hotel is situated away from the hustle and bustle, so its nice and quiet. Lots of nice restaurants to eat in. Not too expensive to get a taxi to palma nova or santa ponsa. If you choose to walk to the marina where the yachts are, its uphill on the way back!! Would go back again next year.

The hotel is quite large and does not have a lot of facilities considering its size. In December the outside pool and bar was obviously closed. There was an indoor heated pool which is quite small.
The breakfast room is large and clean and there is a lot of choice from cereal, fruit to full english (proper sausage and bacon, beans, tomato, fried potatoes etc). There is also a choice of fried, boiled eggs or omelette cooked in front of you with ingredient choices.
The hotel has a small bar (quite expensive) near to reception. Our room on the 6th floor had a queen/king size bed. The room and bathroom were clean and the maids came everyday to replace towels etc and make the bed. The furniture may be a little dated for some taste but was perfectly acceptable.
Outside the hotel was a bar called The Ship where we spent a lot of time as everywhere was closed for the season! There were 2 other bars - Flintstones and Lloyds (both like cafe bars - Flintstones do nice pizza when you are hungry late at night).
It is about 4 euros down to the harbour to look at the expensive yachts. Again, most bars were closed. We decided to try Palma City for New Years Eve but again were disappointed at the lack of bars and spent the night in an Irish Bar.
The area of Portal Nous is lovely but beware if you go low season and are looking for nightlife as there isn't any. Magaluf and Palmanova were like ghost towns with only 4 bars open on the main strip!

This is a great hotel in a superb location which is well suited to couples and young families wanting to get away for peaceful break with plenty things to do close by, but its seems to have started to attract stag and hen do's.
Please, if you want to have a weekend in Magaluf/Palma Nova then book a hotel there!
Once the stags/hens have left after the weekend, the hotel returns to its clean and well ordered ways.
The rooms are small in most cases but come very well air conditioned, even during the day, but lack any controls so it can get a bit chilly during the night.
The restaurant offers a reasonable choice to keep you happy for a week and the food at the show cooking area is kept fresh and hot (which isn't the case in many similar hotels).
The garden and pool area are always well kept and this year the menu at the pool bar has been upgraded and extended, which is a healthy improvement but it’s now not as cheap.
The best feature by far is the kid’s paddling pool and play area which is located away from the main pool area allowing parents with toddlers to let them play in (relative) safety away from the main pool areas. Unfortunately, this level of provision for kids doesn't appear to extend into the rest of the hotel.
The best feature for us is its location, just a short stroll from Puerto Portals where the rich and famous can be seen hanging out and many fine beaches nearby.
Nightlife in and around the hotel is limited but these a wide range of restaurants in both the village centre and the port (but half board is temptingly cheap and convenient).

Hotel was very clean and comfortable, the pool area particularly which was cleaned every morning. The furniture in rooms had seen better days however it was clean and the maids came in daily.
Only drawback was the poolside bar where the service wasn’t very clever and the bar inside the hotel which was very expensive and the bar man not the friendliest.
Breakfasts were very good.
There were sufficient restaurants and bars nearby for a quiet relaxing holidays.
Not a lot for kids other than what was in the hotel, Palma Nova had more choice which is only short taxi/bus ride down the road.

I have stayed twice at this hotel and am booked again for the third time this year. I come with two friends and we have a triple room, plenty of space and a huge bathroom!! Last year we were lucky enough to have one of the suites! We have always been made to feel really welcome. The breakfasts are delightful, and the waiters very friendly and helpful. The food down by the harbour is excellent, plenty of real Spanish fayre. No tourist 'chips' there.
A beautiful beach nearby with safe swimming for two fifty something’s and a sixty something! We’ve tried and tried to get to Palma but the weather and food have been so great we've stayed put for the whole week!! Roll on October 2006!

My wife and I, with our 5 year old son stayed at the hotel in August 2006. The rooms although small, were kept really clean by the very friendly staff. Air conditioned which was a blessing. The breakfasts were of an excellent quality with fresh products to tempt you. Hygiene was never an issue. Pool was superb and so clean. Poolside restaurant provided nice snacks, salads, hot dogs etc.
Two really annoying things that let the hotel down. They had a lovely looking bar area called NEPTUNO SALON. This was NEVER open!! So you were restricted to a drink in the bar next to reception, which was okay but the Neptuno would have been lovely.
Secondly, the hotel never laid on any form of entertainment at all, other than half an hour of amateur flamenco dancing one evening! Don't get me wrong we did not expect the world but something would have been nice. The activity sign near the restaurant for weekly activities was blank, always.
Portals Nous is okay. The Marina is very exclusive and pretty, but, be warned if you stay at this hotel, have young children, forget it. Too far to walk and boring for the kids. The restaurants near the hotel provide adequate, if not overpriced food but at the need we all were fed up with chips. Trying to sample local dishes forget it, caters for tourists diets.
In all we enjoyed our week at the hotel and resort, would we go back? No.

Large and spotlessly clean hotel in a lovely peaceful location in Portals Village. Bedroom furniture is rather large which made the room seem a bit small. The a/c in our room wasn't working and reception sent someone to look at it immediately (they just seemed to give it a bang here and there!) it did come on but was very poor and nowhere near what normal a/c should be therefore the room was too hot and uncomfortable. We paid for half board and only tried the evening meal once and that was enough the food was horrible we ended up eating out every night. The breakfast's were much better and there was a wide choice of everything and the restaurant is really lovely. The pool area is lovely although quite spacious not big enough for the size of the hotel and I would imagine in the peak season of August it would get pretty crowded, however the water was lovely and warm and you could always get a sunbed, the sun didn't come around the pool until about 10am so there was no mad dash in the mornings to get a bed. The outside snack bar didn't open until after 11am the food was good but the service terrible. There was only ever one waitress Magdelena who was very rude and when she did eventually serve you she slammed everything down in front of you. After one or two visits we decided not to bother again. There are a few nice restaurants around the hotel and one bar. Portals Nous is a small place and not what you can call a resort, the Marina has beautiful yachts and very exclusive restaurants. There are also a few nice restaurants and a couple of bars before you get to the Marina which are more "normal" but rather quiet. Do visit Bar29 next to Marineland, its a lovely bar. Overall Portals Nous is lovely to see and fine for a few days stay but any longer would be boring. It is however only 10 mins from Palma Nova and 15 from Palma itself. I would recommend the Marina Portals hotel as long as you don't go half board and make sure the a/c in your room is adequate.
