Overall a lovely place to spend a short holiday. We stayed for 3 days as a quickie but would have happily stayed longer.
The Resort itself is very quiet and felt very 'grown up' for want of a better description and manages to mingle holiday accommodation in with local residences.
The beach is small and very clean and used by locals in the evening. A small shop and restaurant are available on the beach front. There is a short walk (20 mins) along the coastal path over to the sights sounds and obvious cash of the Marina.
The hotel was newly refurbished I believe recently and it looks great. Unfortunately it seems to have been developed by a process of expansion and has taken on an annex which was where our room was. It felt a bit dark and out of the way but the room itself was fine and clean and nicely appointed. With a balcony although the view was only of the hotel garden.
The bar and pool were great and staff friendly and there was plenty of space around the pool and on the sunbeds even in the last but one week of school holidays.
Overall I believe the hotel has a 3* rating but most of the residents seemed to think that if the hotel was closer to the beach it would easily have been a 4*.
The only problem we could see would be for anyone who was older or disabled. As access to the beach or main town was very hilly (beach about 5-10 mins walk town about 15 mins)
Generally would recommend and will definitely be returning.

This Hotel was a fantastic change; it was not imposing or impersonal, or intimidating in any way. The staff were helpful and relaxed and the food was good.
Although, we required two rooms which needed to be interconnected, they did not have this available so the two rooms which we were given were clean, air-conditioned and very comfortable with hot running water in a bathroom / shower room.
I have 3 young children, all of differing ages there is table tennis area and a pool table and two swimming pools where the children would play. The beach was a short walk away, taking approximately 5 mins to walk at the most. We booked a Pirate show event, through the hotel which was breathtaking with spectacular acrobatics.
I would go back to the same hotel, as it was not built like a housing estate and processed a homely factor about the place.
The receptionist always had a smile and time to talk to you and one felt at ease with the ambience of the hotel.
Thank you viva Costa Portal hotels for a great holiday.

It surprises me to read bad reviews about the food at Costa Portals. The chefs were brilliant and ensured that all guests were provided with a large range of tasty dishes. The waitresses were very friendly and service was good.
Although they were small, rooms were well presented and clean. Maids visited daily. In my opinion, the hotel is best suited to couples looking for a quiet break away. If you are looking for regular evening entertainment, this is not the place to go. However, a short bus ride will take you into Palma Nova or Magalluf.
I would definitely revisit the hotel as it delivers a good break away at a very reasonable price.

Just come back. Hotel very clean, food was edible but we ate out most of the time. Very quiet and relaxing holiday. In a good location to get to most popular resorts. Buses are very handy to get you to Magaluf and Palma Nova. Taxis are very cheap to get home at night, after a late night about 10 euros to get home.
Hotel was a bit pricey for drinks but the local shop was handy. Ideal for late night clubbing and long relaxing lazy days around the pool as there is no noise around the pool. My husband and I went for a quick week away, I would not take my children there as there is nothing for them to do and there were no other children there at the time.
Very good holiday but watch the taxis for ripping you off as there are 4 kinds of tariffs. 1 is a local rate for local people. tariff 2 is a day rate for all tourist, tariff 3 is night tariff and tariff 4 is for special bank holidays. We got ripped off coming from the airport. It is about 27 euros. We did not know about these tariffs till later in the holiday - a taxi told us what the tariffs were for.

Hotel very clean location fantastic, lovely cove even if it was like climbing mount Everest to get back to hotel, worth it for the lovely beach.
Staff fantastic, special mention for Bruno fantastic host nothing was a bother.
Had one of the best holidays ever could be due to the people we met Dot & John, Joe &
Pat, and the other great couple from Ayre(never found out his real name).
Food could have been hotter but I am sure they will get it right for this year.
Fantastic bus links to Palma Nova (5mins) & to Palma (5 mins) the best of worlds, quiet when you want or a bus ride into main resorts.
All in all a fantastic holiday.
Many thanks to Bruno and all the staff for making our holiday so special (pampered us for 2 weeks)
Thanks
Debbie & Glen.

Rooms were a bit on the small side but adequate and clean - when the Hotel is full there is a queue for dinner - Food is OK good salad/sweet choice though the main course is sometimes poor. Nice pool area, pleasant staff.
Definately not suitable for children as they will be bored in the evenings as there is little to do
Not suitable for those with mobility problems as the town is all up and down hills some very steep and its 15-20 mins for a fit person to walk to the nearest shops. The beach is down a 1 in 3 incline or 100+ steps.
If you want a quiet time then this is for you.

We have just returned from a week at the Costa Portels Hotel we found the food terrible along with many other guests we were having to eat out. If you ate the uncooked food you were fine but the cooked food was cold and undercooked.
One night the chicken was burnt on the outside but pink in the middle. The hotel and pool area were really nice and we did expect a walk to the beach and into the village which was fine by us. The room was the smallest hotel room we have ever stayed in but it was cleaned every day.
It was a 15 min walk to the village and we ate a few times at the Los Molinos restaurant which did fantastic fillet steaks.

My partner and I have just returned from a week at the Costa Portals and we certainly were not disappointed, considering the last minute nature of our booking and the price we paid!
The hotel itself is located in a quiet residential area, perched on the edge of the stunning south Mallorcan coastline with great views out to sea and a peaceful atmosphere. I believe the place was refurbished not long ago and therefore is very well presented, with modern interiors and comfortable surroundings.
For anyone seeking a relaxing and undisturbed holiday, this is ideal. Like other reviews have mentioned, there is not a lot "happening" in the hotel or the resort, but I rather liked this aspect.
The room was of course simple and functional. Air conditioning is provided, and the beds are fairly agreeable for those who prefer a firm night’s sleep. When we arrived we only had 1 pillow each which was very measly - I took the blankets out the wardrobe and used these until one of the kindly maids replaced them with extra pillows.
You get satellite TV which is mainly a vast array of German channels, but BBC one and two are included for when you are sick of the sunshine and outdoors. We had a nice balcony overlooking the sea, and at night the view is equally pretty. We were in the Annex, not the main part of the hotel - don't worry if you get put in here, in fact I think it was quieter and more secluded.
The pool area is good, very clean and smart with plenty of sun beds (although place your towel at breakfast to guarantee a forward-facing lounger, many are in the shade). We loved the pool in fact, and it was quite cooling and not too chlorinated. During the day you can get drinks from the bar and snacks at lunchtime if breakfast wasn't enough!
Onto the food...like others have said, there is plenty of choice but it is not always fabulous. I really enjoyed most of my meals at the hotel but some nights the food on offer was a little bizarre! Pick wisely and you're sure to enjoy. Breakfast was very good, with lots of cooked items and continental options. Everything is a buffet but don't forget to wait to be seated, we saw loads of new idiots just wandering in without being seen, which I thought was quite rude!
Overall this is a lovely place to go to if you need some peace. If you aren't interested in a challenging walk up a hill or some steps you best go to Holland or somewhere flat - the inclines are quite extreme but I enjoyed the fact it was good exercise!

We had a room with a large balcony over looking the pool and the sea which was cleaned daily, very pleasant with air conditioning.
The walk down the steps to the beach was really hard work especially coming back! The beach was small but nice, there was one shop down there.
The nearest shops were about a fifteen minute walk up and down hills again.
There was entertainment twice a week, no entertainment for the children, absolutely dead the rest of the week with no music or anything to do except for a pool table.
My daughter loved the pool it was kept very clean. The food looked alright but after two days I had food poisoning and spent two days in the room and couldn't move.
Couldn't move far for the rest of the week. After medication from doctor was just about ok to fly home. Found out other people in the hotel had upset stomachs as well.
Nice hotel, wrong location, bad food. Wouldn't go again.

We were looking for a quiet resort, so I could relax and unwind as we were without the children for a week!
This resort was quiet. We were quite surprised that in July it didn’t seem that busy at all.
The hotels location was quite secluded. Nearest shop was 5-10 minute walk or Hike for the less-able (Portal Nous is Very Hilly) and when the weather is hot you certainly work up a sweat!
Nearest beach is not that far but you have to go down about 100 steps to reach it, I’m not that old but I had to stop half way for a breather!
Hotel was spotless, rooms basic but ample and had air con. Maid service every day.
Pool area and Patio area were nice and clean, though you did have to get your towels out early if you wanted a sun lounger and the majority of people left there towels and went out all day which was quite annoying at times.
Staff where polite, though very understaffed and as a result you could tell they where rather stressed at times. Only ever 1 person on the bar so you usual had to wait a while to be served and same with breakfast and dinner. had to queue for a table. you seemed to be asking staff for bowls or spoons or cups at every sitting as the whole restaurant and bar area only seemed to have 4 staff there.
Food wasn’t great, have stayed in another 3* in Majorca before with much better choice of food and it was rather greasy, (did have a funny stomach a few days) but ate out a bit.
This Hotel is a no-no for children, other than the pool, there was nothing else for them to do. No daytime and only 2 nights of entertainment in a week, kids would get bored.
But if like me you looking for somewhere to relax, read a book and get a tan then I’m sure you would like this hotel.

What a gem this hotel is for relaxing holiday.
Spotlessly clean; food good but not gourmet; the choice is so great that if you leave hungry you are a very picky eater. 3 star; price reflects accordingly.
Plenty of sun loungers around the pool, with umbrellas and if you like shade there are trees on 1 side of the pool. Location is hilly but take a stroll to the fantastic marina and watch the 'beautiful people'. Portals Nous mostly residential area with some fantastic houses obviously owned by the wealthy, but it also has bars and restaurants shops stocking all you need.
However! The most amazing delight of this hotel is the staff. They are so friendly and accommodating that you feel as if you have been friends for ever; they will make your holiday!

We have just returned from a week long break at this hotel & thoroughly enjoyed it. We went specifically because it looked really quiet & it was. This isn't somewhere to go if you want bars, nightlife & entertainment. The hotel is only small, tastefully decorated & the staff are very friendly. The food is what you expect really, the only complaint I could say is that it could have done with being hotter. I would say it's not really a place to take children as apart from the pool there's nothing for them to do - whilst we were there it was just couples also looking for a quiet break away. Only a short walk to the lovely beach (very hilly though - not good if you're not good on your feet). We would definitely go back.
