Ottoman Hotel Imperial

Vacationing with my family we all agreed that the Ottoman was a wonderful hotel, has a fantastic location and attentive staff. You'll never get lost with Hagia Sophia out your bedroom window. The rooms are clean, gracious with tall ceilings, attractive furniture and spreads. We all enjoyed the roof terrace in the evening and for breakfast. We stayed in Istanbul on the front and back ends of our month long trip to Turkey and chose the Ottoman Imperial both times. The location cannot be beat; it is literally across the street from the Aya Sophia and walking distance to all the major Sultanamet sites, Grand Bazaar and Spice Market. I will not restate the positives everyone else highlighted (perfect location, great property). All are true. Some TA members had trouble getting responses from the property which we did not have. Gonul is a lovely young woman who works at the hotel who was extremely helpful before and during our stay. The only negative I can at all dig up is that b/c they have a restaurant in their garden terrace they do not want you bringing your own beverages/snacks to sit and read or play cards. An unbelievable lucky stroke we had the chance to stay at this hotel. The service and staff were outstanding! The hotel is impeccable and clean. Beautiful interior and a view of Aya Sofia not to be believed! Would have loved to spend the entire trip there just for the hotel and it's perfect location.

We arrived at the hotel smoothly using their airport transfer service - a little pricey, however, well worth the peace of mind! The welcome was warm as was the service throughout our stay with every need attended to. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful. The room was also spacious and clean, as was the terrace where we had breakfast every morning. LOCATION: Couldn’t be better. All major sites are in walking distance, yet on a quiet street. Next to Aya Sofia BED/SHEETS/PILLOW: Double room bed was smaller than normal. At 6’0 my feet barely fit on the bed. Pillows were not down but fine, sheets were standard quality LIGHTING: Excellent lighting. Corner room had tons of windows. Other reviewers have covered the many advantages of this excellent hotel, so I will simply second them and add my own emphases. One of the reasons I chose the Ottoman is that I travel alone and have reached a stage in life when (for me at any rate) significant down time each day is necessary. This visit was a bit of a working time as well. So I needed a decent sized room with a chair to read in, a desk to write at, etc. Not huge, but not the usual shoebox Europeans reserve for the solo traveler. Stayed there for 3 days with wife and child at the end of July. We were met by a courteous and efficient driver to take us to the hotel although our flight was 5 hrs delayed. Staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful although some only speak little or no English. The terrace is a nice place to have breakfast, lunch or dinner or just a drink. We were met at the airport by the Ottoman car for our complimentary trip to the hotel and spent spent four nights in total at the Ottoman Imperial, within 15 miniutes of checking in I was unexpectedly surprised by the arrival of a birthday cake(complete with candles and sparklers) arriving at our room; I am happy to say that the level of service and care did not stray from this high level during our stay. Just back from our son's wedding .Pity there is not an "outstanding" rating.In the Ottoman Imperial one comes to accept excellent service as commonplace. I suppose this comes with being spoiled. An unflagging desire to be helpful- this is what expresses the ethic of the hotel. Where else would you have frontline staff totally involved in researching the best hairdressing facilities?
