We have had the most amazing time at the club orka hotel, rooms are spotless and very roomy, the staff are fantastic and cannot do enough for you, I would recommend highly, Ovacik in general very quiet but Hisaranu is only a 10 mins walk away and has a buzzing nightlife, best hotel we have stayed in.

When we arrived at Orka our initial thoughts were WOW! It was spotless, new, staff were really polite and approachable, could never do enough to help us which was great! The complex is huge with both the hotel and villas combined. The pools were gorgeous, very clean and the... more

A great holiday!
Having just returned from the Orca Club Hotel I thought I'd write a little review myself before apathy sinks in and I forget to do it! Overall it was a great place to stay, we had a 3 bedroom villa which we need now having teenage kids (boy and a girl)who have to have their own rooms now. As someone mentioned earlier the kitchen was a little short on utensils,it only had one of those two ring cooker things for example, but it was no real problem for us as we hardly ever cook anyway, just boil the odd egg and stuff, although a toaster would have been nice! They were spotlessly clean and cleaned every day with regular towel and sheet changes. The only negatives about the pools are the fact that there are not enough sunbeds, and unfortunately if you wanted one you had to be up before 9am or you didn't get one,as people ignored the signs saying that towels would be removed if people reserved them, one morning as we were going on a trip I saw people putting towels down at 7.30 in the morning, which is not on. Also when we were leaving we were told that we owed some money for a bar bill, this was wrong as we always paid for whatever we bought at the time, obviously someone had decided to try it on (it happened 3 times) and was passing their bill on to us, or had made a genuine mistake, other people I spoke to said to be careful when paying the waiters for drinks as they will keep the change for tips,no problem when it's only a lira or so, but it becomes one when it is 5 lira a time! Anyway I might be nitpicking here, but suffice to say that we are going back next year and staying in one of the Orca's villas which is just across the road,4 bedrooms and it has it's own private pool. Ovacik itself is fine, plenty of restaurants and bars on ther main room, and there appears to be quite a few set back, but we never went up that way to be honest. We went into Hisaronu sezeral times at night and loved it, it's very lively and might not be everyone's cup of tea (not really ours to be honest but the kids loved it) loads of bars and clubs and stuff, but great so long as we never had to do it every night! There are lot's of good trips as well, book with the travel agents in town though as they are half the price of what First Choice were charging!
club orka villas
i have just come back from club orka villas and i am missing it already. We arrived at the hotel in the early hours and was meet by the porter , after checking in we were taken to our villa. The villa was lovely and spacious with 3 bedrooms all air con. The kitchen was a little short on utensils so take washing up things with you such as dishcloth and teatowels. My villa was near the slide pool which was ideal for the children ( i wouldnt like to be in a villa near the night bar as i could imagine it being loud ). My villas was very quiet. The only bad point was it had ants and a few mozzies so we bought some raid and none of us got bit. There is hardly any day time entertainment and no pool staff. The slide kept the children entertained all day. The food was okay better some days than others and our first night we ate in the al la carte resturaunt because there wasn't enough half board guests and we were allowed to choose anything off the menu and the food and service was excellent. The only down side was that they said dinner started at 7pm but when we got down there they told us it always starts at 8pm. The only problem we had with this hotel was that we were told that we would get our deposit back on the saftey deposit box but it turned out to be non refundable ( it costs 15 pounds ) All in all the hotel and villas were excellent. The staff were great and the food okay. If we can we will be booking for next year.
Silly Billy
This year is our 3rd holiday at the Hotel Orka,we were first there in 2001 and then 2003 in the "old" Orka and could not fault the Hotel this year was our 1st time in the "new" Orka and what can one say but what a brilliant holiday we had "thankyou" Team Orka for your attention and service you are the best. We had such a relaxing holiday and were looked after by attentive staff that we have already booked to return in September 2008. A special mention to one of the best bar team members is Billy (known as Silly Billy what a fantastic guy,so much fun and laughter to had with this guy) Also to come highly recommended in the resort is the "Woodmans Restraunt "down town, just by the Monday Market car park, what fantastic food and brilliant value for money and again fantastic staff and well looked after by them.
Orka great but can be loud in the evenings - especially karaoke night
Great hotel, large rooms, great pools and right on main road so Dolmus access perfect to hisaronu/fethiye and olu deniz. Only complaint is would imagine when busy will be very loud especially in evenings when pool bar speakers seem to be on full blast. Ask for a room at back of hotel and will be a lot quieter
great holiday
my teenage daughter & myself both had an brilliant holiday this year.We dont usually stay in hotels as they can be impersonal but we felt 'at home' here. The staff were very helpfull and friendly ,they worked quickly & quitely to keep everything spotless the bar staff were always cheerful. My daughter loved the water slide and made many friends she still keeps in touch with and we both enjoyed the entertainment. The hotel is only 10min walk from Hisaronu and only a short ride on the dolmus to olu deniz and fethiye so we were in the perfect place for sightseeing. My only complaint was that the hotel rooms were a little noisey being close to the round bar but the music did get turned down in the about midnight and anyway we were mostly out till then! thanks for making our first visit to turkey a great one it wont be our last!
Fantastic time!
Two adults, two children visited in May holidays. Arrived at 8.00am after evening flights. Staff very helpful and showed us immediately to our villa. The villa was very spacious. A little basic, no toaster, weird kettle, no tv which we thought we would have, but very clean and lovely verandah. The complex itself is spotless. Gardens are well maintained. The Maids are lovely, in fact all the staff work very hard and are very friendly. If you are self catering, a few shops just outside complex to get basic groceries. We went up every morning and bought fresh baked bread, and ate it on the verandah with juice and coffee.. bliss!! We ate in the hotel restuarant a couple of times. It was more expensive than the many restaurants in Hisaronu etc but the food was gorgeous and at least we knew that we were not going to get dodgy tummies those nights!! Entertainment wise a definite must is the Turkish night, fantastic food and atmosphere and entertainment is excellent. The Water slide is on all day, unlike other hotels we have stayed in and the kids were never bored. Be warned though, if you are expecting a definite kids club that is supervised, we saw no sign of that. They did have board games and painting for little ones but the kids were not signed in, they just could wander over and join in and then wander off again. Looked at the apartments near the top bar area, lovely but small and very warm inside and I should imagine very noisy on an evening. Much preferred the villas. It looks like they are in the process of doing up the villas, some looked more updated towards the top end of the complex - we were right near the bottom bar, could be noisy on a morning with pool table in action from 7.30am onwards, but hey, we were on holiday, totally chlled and got use to the noise...no big deal. Cannot find anything really to complain about. We booked direct ourselves and are definitely going to return. Not keen on the credit card system, I can understand how it is easier for them, not having to count out money etc but I personally prefer to hand money over for my drinks and know what I have spent at the end of the evening. Would I recommend it - definitely. Just remember though, Turkey should be kept like it is and I got the impression that the Turks in Ovacik were getting a bit fed up with the British influences in their way of life - can't say I blame them. Keep Turkey Turkish...if you want egg and chips, go to Blackpool!!
excellent value
We arrived about 4am and were warmly greeted by the night staff. Comfortable room overlooking the main bar and terrace. On the first evening the music went on until 3am and very loud. We were moved to a rear room and it was much better. The food was very good and the presentation was first class. Waiting staff very helpful and most spoke good English. Staff in main bar also good. The hotel was very clean and well maintained with good gardens. Views from the terrace as the sun sets when you are eating dinner are fantastic. Hotel is set on a hillside so there are many steps but there is a lift and slopes for people with wheelchairs or families with pushchairs. The hotel seems to cater for families and those who like evening activities. If you want an early night and are overlooking the main bar and terrace the noise may be a little too much for a good nights sleep. When I did complain the music was turned down. Villas off site are available and you can still use all the hotel facilities. There are other hotels whose music is just as loud close by. It is something that needs to be addressed. Generally though we had a good time there. Of course if you get fed up with hotel food there are many good and cheap restaurants close by. Good location for getting out to see the sights. Being higher up than Fethiye there is usually a cooling breeze. One other good thing is that no-one seems to get up early and get their towels on the sun loungers around the pool. We would return but stay in a villa.
ups and downs
Stayed at the orka complex in fethiye and rented a private villa close to the main hotel. the villa we stayed in was beautiful. spacious, comfortable, even complete with its own private pool. hotel was also very well maintained and hotel staff all very friendly until the last day of our holiday. whilst asleep in the villa in the early hours we were broken into. not just that, what was more of a concern is that the turks that broke in come into our room whilst me and my partner was sleeping 2 feet away and stole around 400 pounds a mobile phone and my partners watch. if we had of woke up anything could of happened and im glad in a way we wasn't disturbed. in the morning we reported this to the hotel who were completely uninterested! they didnt send anyone to see if we were okay, to ask what posessions were stolen, not even an apology!!! so our last day of our holiday was spent trudging round town looking for a police station to make a statement as for our insurance to reimburse us. it just seemed to me that staff were happy to chat and be helpful as long as your spending your money. But if there is a problem they are more than happy to let you get on with it yourselves!
Loved it so much we got married there
Clu & Hotel Orka is definately the place for a relaxing family holiday, with Olu deniz and Fethiye just down the road. We have been going there for the last 7 years and last year my husband and I got married right near the bar, as the sun was setting. The managment heklp lay on a fantastic wedding ceremony and magnificent meal afterwards, we invited all the guests of the hotel. Each year is all the more memorable and the staff, and the people of the surrounding area are brilliant. Just the place to get your new wardrobe made, or shop til you drop for gold and jewllery - don't forget to haggle.
