" Brilliant Place to Stay "

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Portanova, What a brilliant place. The hotel staff was fantastic including the reception, bar staff and maids. I cannot fault the place. I was traveling with my 6 year old son, my mother and father so a good mix of ages. My mother is also registered disabled. The hotel had ramps everywhere so this was not a problem. The beach and plenty of restaurants is a 2 min walk. There was plenty of children entertainment including a kids disco at 8:30 pm. From about 10:30 the hotel was very quiet so you and your kids can get to sleep. If you want a great holiday book this place you will not be disappointed.
Note you can get a taxi from the airport for 37 Euros

Advice: 2 hour boat trip is well worth the money

Good for: Beach

" great holiday, shame apartments are dated "

we have just come back from a weeks stay at roc portonova apartments, palma nova is a lovely place, we have been a few times now, we did notice that the price of everything is the same as at home, so it did cost us alot more this year. the apartments are very basic and the whole hotel could do with updating, the staff are friendly, and the rooms where clean and tidy, i was worried all holiday, as the patio doors and other doors in the rooms where thin paines of glass, very dangerous when you have a 3year old running around. another problem was we were not told we had a gate on our patio as we were on the ground floor, so while we all unpacking my 3year old son decided to open the little gate and jump straight into the deep end off the pool which is 8ft, my daughter who is 16years old, ran out and jumped straight in to save her brother, not realising how deep it was, then i jumped in to save them both, only 1 young man came to help us. also in the baby pool there are tiles that are coming up and when little ones where in there, they where all taking chunks out of their knees, we reported it but nothing was done. i would go back to palma nova but not back to those apartments until it was brought up to date.

Advice: palma nova is a lovely resort, great for familys, bit pricy at moment.

Activities: best restaurant was tobu, great food bit exspensive but worth it

Good for: Beach

" CRACKING APARTMENTS! "

Well we have just got back from these apartments and i must say these are one of the best apartments you can go to in palma nova!
The staff was absolutely brilliant (including the reception people, so helpful!) The maids came in practically everyday to change the towels and cleaned the floors, bedrooms etc..
It is in a absolutely brilliant spot, all you need to do is walk out and the sea is just there with a harbour! As for the beach, this is even better, you can walk out for miles and the water is warm and clear!
Overall, such a brilliant holiday and would reccommend this to anyone!
Hoping to go back here (if we can) in a couple of weeks because it is that good!
Karen's bar (like so many of you have said) is just round the corner and this is brilliant, the best food, best staff! You can even have a good laugh with them all!
Best wishes,
Jane & Rob.

Advice: One of the best places you could go in Majorca, definately!

Activities: Karen's bar and taste of india! Golf Fantasia is a cracking little fun day out!

Good for: Beach

" Great Place - Book it & enjoy !! "

Roc Portonova is a great, very friendly, clean, well run place, ideal for families. The staff are all very welcoming and accommodating, in particular David (An englishman who works at reception)!!
The Majorcans are a friendly group of island people with a nice laid-back way - particularly seem to like children !! Apartments had a good mix of nationalities - Irish, lots of English & Germans, with a number of Dutch, Scaninavians & Spaniards !!
It is located in the quietest part of Palmanova on the Palma city side off a minor road in a safe location facing the beautiful beach (200m) and yacht club (50m).
There is also a kids park on the wide beachside boulevard (150m).
We got a Resortahoppa transfer through Travel republic for £64 which was very straight forward - 25 minutes direct from the airport !! Apartments also offer taxis to the airport from E34-37 each way !! Taxi rank 200m away on the waterfront road offering taxis to Santa Ponsa for E8-10 and cheaper to magalluf !!
We went for a week at the end of May with our 3yr old twins and had a lovely time - we stayed in a poolside ground-floor 2 bedroom apartment which was very big and although not overly modern, was clean, functional and more than adequate !! The 2 bed room apts have 4 single beds (2 per bedroom), a sofa that converted into a bed and a pull out bed under the sofa in the living room !!
The one bedroom apartments faced onto minor side roads meaning more noise and no view !!
The apartment has a balcony with a table & 4 seats offering nice views of the sea and pool area !! The kitchen was fine, it included enough utensils to cook with, a microwave, kettle, gas cooker, oven etc and a large fridge /freezer !! Good bathroom with a shower/bath !! Living room had a sofa and a seat and small TV showing German, Spanish and British(ITV,BBC & CBeebies etc) satellite channels for free !! Living room doubles as your dining area with a large wooden table with 4 chairs !!
Apartments also offer a breakfast buffet for E6 each morning (under 4s free) which is fine !!
Safe available for E18 for a week and rooms cleaned/ towels changed every 2nd day - cleaners were very nice and we had no issue with security !!
The Eroski supermarket 200m around the corner is great for all your basics and is reasonably priced - much cheaper than the Spar shops!!
Pool is fine with a small separate kids area that is shallow and safe (just watch for kids cutting feet around pool /poolside tiles) !! Beside the pool is the stage / focus of the kids club / entertainment which was energetic but a bit loud at times (however did stop at night by 11)!! Opposite the pool is the poolside bar which served decent reasonable food (also had a happy hour = buy 1, get 1 free: Pints E3.10)!!
Indoor pool was closed when we were there but good option for trips October-April !!
There are a number of decent restaurants nearby along the beachfront including the two Pizza places /Italians next door, the Mocubar(Cuban style)and Natalies for home-style food !! For something different there is a tasty crepe restarant along the waterfront and an amazing Italian style ice-cream shop beyond Eroski supermarket !! The Chinese next door is not good (pure grease)but otherwise all other places are decent and you can't go that far wrong !!
Generally, Eating out is not cheap, with the Euro so strong against the £ but otherwise, costs are reasonable and what the hell - you're on holiday - ENJOY & HOPE UR WEATHER IS GOOD!!
There are loads of £-Euro money changing places and a bank with an ATM 100m past beside Eroski supermarket on the opposite side of the road !! It accepts Nationwide cards and gives up to E300 per transaction !!

Advice: Enjoy the shallow bay with a clean beach 200m away !!

Activities: Mocubar Restaurant 350 m along the seafront is nice with good kids meals but expensive enough !!

Good for: Beach

" Great Week at the Roc portonova Apts "

My family and I have just got back from a weeks trip to Palma Nova staying at the Roc Porto Nova Apts. We had a fantastic week and did not want to come home. Firstly I'd like to point out that some of the reviews made me very apprehensive yet I was very pleasantly surprised.
Ok the hotel was a little dated but the apartments were massive, 2 double bedrooms, a nice sized kitchen and quite a large living space with balcony leading to the pool. We had sea views which was very pleasant first thing in the morning and last thing at night. The pool wasn't the biggest but adequate for the young ones, there was even daily entertainment which we didn't expect and the kids loved it, so many thanks to Lotti and her hard work. The evening entertainment wasn't bad either and they had a superb magician/hypnotist, had the kids in stitches and had the adults amazed.
The hotel itself is situated in the quiet part of Palma nova, you are 20 meters from a small harbor and 30 meters from a lovely beach, which was clean and had a fantastic kids play area. There are lots of shops and restaurants to pick from and i would highly recommend the Italian which is located next door.
Although you are situated in the quiet part of Palma nova everything is within reach, including Magalluf which is 5 minutes in a taxi. I highly recommend the pirates show, it is out of this world. The hotel is ideally situated and we had a great time and would definitely go back.
I will say though that some of the reviews mention the bad security of the hotel. I'll admit that the balcony doors aren't great as the locks are pretty flimsy, but we always shut the outdoor shutters as well which made a big difference, no one was breaking in. We spoke to a few people and none of them had any complaints. There were people there for the 6th time and they haven't had any problems. I would say for peace of mind just hire a safe. I certainly wouldn't say people have broken into these apartments, but if you leave your valuables around then it's quite possible cleaners could take them but this is the same anywhere you go.

Advice: Beutiful beaches, loads of bars and restaurants and a never ending supply of entertainment.

" After reading the other reviews on... "

After reading the other reviews on the hotel we were actually pleasantly surprised we couldn't fault the cleanliness or the decor of our room. It was adequately equiped to cope with what little cooking we did in the apartment as there were more than enough places to eat out at reasonable prices.....special mentions for Karens just up the road opposite the supermarket and just a little further up the seafront the chinese restaurant buffet was excellent value for money. Next door to there was restaurant natalie where we had a good few meals their steak pie is to die for yum yum. Next door again is another good restaurant their set menu meal is good value.

The only down side to the hotel is as has been said before poor locks on the doors and patio doors especially as the ghost of roc portonova still appears active and from what it seems has his or her own set of keys. We came back earlier than usual on our last night there to find our front door open and on investigation the bolts on the patio door had also been opened, luckily because we had read the reviews we did not leave anything of value in the apartment so did not lose anything. Albeit a gut reaction we feel we disturbed them by coming back earlier than usual.
It really seems a shame that the ghost hasnt been excorcised as the staff appear helpful and friendly and the hotel is very good value for money in the most wonderful location.

" This hotel is at the most quiet end... "

This hotel is at the most quiet end of the resort. But it's only about 5 euros in a taxi to Magaluf. For us this was perfect. Quiet days and noisy nights and then a very quiet hotel to come back to.
It cost approx 35 euros in a taxi from the airport. There is a supermarket about 100m along the road. Much cheaper than the local spar!!!

The hotel has a pool both inside and outside and a great pool bar for a beer as the sun goes down. We stayed in a 2 bed apartment on the first floor. Fantasic views over the pool, the small marina and the beach behind. Rooms were a good size for 4 people. The rooms were clean but a bit in need of some paint. But we didn't spend a lot of time in them. Kitchen had a good size Fridge, freezer, small micro oven and a 4 ring hob. Basic utencils, but most things you would need. Maid service was a bit sporadic, 2 days the room wasn't cleaned. But every time the maid did come, there was fresh towels and the beds were made. Whilst the security at the hotel was a bit poor, no locks on the windows and a very flimsy lock on the balcony door, there is a safe in the room to hire. But at no point did we feel unsafe. But would suggest you locked all valuables up whenever you go out.
Check in was great, they were ready and waiting for us, fastest checkin ever. Very helpful at reception. Paul the entertainer was very entertaining especially as it was his first week!!!
Great holiday with the girls, cheap and cheerful and would defo go again.

" Roc Portonova Apartments proved to be... "

Roc Portonova Apartments proved to be in a good location with exellent views and good transport links to local areas. My family and I were not impressed with our room. Reasons Why :

Security not good at all ( poor door locks, although there was a saftey deposit box in the room).

State of Room ( not very clean , needs referbishment).

We were situated on the ground floor facing the pool and beaches. All the other ground floor apartments that were facing the pool had a step and gate access to the pool area. We had none.

Also there was a reer yard area leading on from the kitchen that was very untidy and poorly maintained. It didnt have a roof on top, the security on it was not good and proved to be noisy.

( We asked to be moved but they said there was no available rooms).

Good Points :

Get what you payed for.

Internet Access ( even though you had to pay).

2 pools, 1 indoor, 1 outdoor.

Pool Snack Bar.

Staff Friendly, always on hand.

Overall we would go back to Palma Nova but would not necessarily stay at this hotel.

" We have just spent a week with... "

We have just spent a week with friends at these apartments. We would grade them at 2 star.

They are looking very tired and could do with total make-over. No 2 apartments are the same for example we had a gas cooker, next door was a 2 ring electric, they had a microwave, we had not, our TV was fine, and theirs was not.

The patio doors are not very secure(a flimsy hook and weak bolt). The crockery and cutlery is a bit strange, a few knives, forks and spoons and the same with the crockery.

After saying all of that, they are very clean with a VERY good maid service nearly every day, sheets changed at least every 2 days as where the towels.

Pool is good with sun beds but some were broken. Prices at the pool bar where on average fair with friendly staff.

Reception staff are first class and nothing is too much trouble for them(David is a winner!).

Would we book again? Maybe if it had a total revamp. Good value I hear you say? Only if you book with them direct. Happy holiday to you.

" Just arrived home from 10 days in the... "

Just arrived home from 10 days in the Portonova, this was our third year in a row, not so many Brits here as usual, first night was very noisy, then just a few in the week. Always as people arrive back at 2am from a night out, not helpful with three children sleeping though! This was a nice holiday, but not the best, standards slipping slightly.

Lovely location, a minute from the beach, a fab supermarket around he corner, Eroski, very very cheap, get your ice-lollys there! Maid service fantastic, so friendly and polite too!

You must be up early as people queue at the locked door from 8.30am! Until the door is unlocked to get a sun-lounger, I watched and laughed everyday as by 9am all 110 sun-loungers had towels on!! Amazing! As sometimes these loungers were still left like this until mid afternoon!

Stefan is a fab entertainer and the kids loved him and his party songs. David on reception can’t do enough for you; he is from Manchester and is a great person! Thank you David!

There is pool and table tennis around the pool and you must go and remind security at 12am to lock up, otherwise all you hear all night is pop, pop, and pop! Bar staff lovely, food there is great to.

Just down the road is the Kompas bar, lovely people again fab food.

Internet available for 2 euros for 30 mins, kept the kids happy as they stay in touch with friends on msn.

" We have just spent our first family... "

We have just spent our first family holiday abroad together in these apartments and all I can say is the staff were friendly and helpful especially David on reception who sorted out a transport problem very quickly.
Stefan the entertainer was great organising things for the kids to do during the day and part of the evening. We all enjoyed a few games of pool volleyball one afternoon.

The waiters in the poolside bar were very friendly and also cooked and served the food too which was good value for money.

The apartments may just need a few more utensils and pans but if you are on holiday who wants to cook really? Although it would be nice if all the appliances worked, oven yes, grills and microwave no.

We had some lovely meals including the pizzeria/restaurant next-door and a lovely Mexican a few metres up the road La cuccaracha excellent food and it was lovely to sit outside enjoying a great meal and people watching!

All in all it was a great holiday and the kids want us to book again now for next year!

" We have just returned from a week... "

We have just returned from a week staying at the Roc Portonova in Palma Nova and having read comments on this site before going, I was a bit apprehensive about what our holiday might be like. However, we enjoyed the week so much the kids want to go back again next year.

David, on reception, is friendly and helpful regarding where to catch buses for certain places, to chasing up late running airport pick ups (we did make it in time for our flight, not the hotel's fault!).

Stefan, the entertainer, is very hard working and is there every day but Saturday from 11 in the morning until 11 at night entertaining everyone, not just the kids! We all enjoyed the pool volleyball competition and it got lots of "nations" together having fun in the pool! The kids loved his bingo to win a free "cocktail"!

The waiters are great too, working long hours but always with a smile. Some Brits could do with learning from them sometimes.

We ate at the pizzeria/Italian restaurant next to the hotel, which did lovely food. On another night, we tried a Mexican place a short level walk away (la Cuccaracha) and their food was great too.

All in all - a great holiday and the area in which the hotel is situated is level but quiet too, which is great if you don't like the hustle and bustle of places like Magaluf.
Highly recommend a stay at the Roc Portonova.
