Kelebek Classic Cave Hotel

This place is SUPERB. The location is amazing (the top of the town with a wide open view of the area), the customer service is world class, the rooms are large, very clean, well decorated, inside caves, and reasonably priced for what you get, the breakfasts were top notch and the tours they offer are incredibly good, small (5-9 people) and convenient. room 7 was the best! or should we say fairy chimney 7. with a very relaxed staff we felt welcome to hang out and play backgammon with them for days on end, in fact we probably spent more time in the hotel than sightseeing. Being fit will help you cope with walking up the hill that it's situated on but then again with the best views in town who cares if you are gasping for breath as you take it all in.

We stayed 3 nights here in December 2006. We thought the hotel was beautiful, the rooms were great (the junior suite room was very nice) and the breakfast was good. We gave it an average review because of the inattentive staff. We assumed the staff was inattentive because it was the low season and there were too many staff with not enough to do although I see there was a review written with the same complaint in June. After seeing a holiday show on TV some five years ago which highlighted ballooning over Cappadocia, it was placed on our must do list. My husband and I stayed at the Kelebek in late August 2006. We contacted this hotel directly over the internet and were very happy with the wonderful help and communication that we had with the hotel leading up to and during our stay. We stayed for 3 days in the middle of October. The staff go out of thir way to be helpful and the rooms and terraces/gardens are fantastic. The food is fine for one evening but the choice is limited and there are plenty of good restaurants on Goreme.We liked the Goreme Restaurant which had good live traditional music. The balloon ride is a unique experience; take the two hour ride if you can afford it.

I have the feeling the Kelebek will live in our memories as "that wonderful hotel in Kapadokya." Kapadokya itself, the town of Göreme, and the Kelebek were all a revelation to first-time visitors. We stayed for 3 nights in a cave suite in the property accross from the main hotel. Our room was a lovely big cave room with a sitting area. Breakfasts on the terrace were fabulous - no better way to start the day than with good food and the most amazing views of both the wonderful scenery of this region and traditional village life. Well, we found the location, rooms and staff very good. The staff were very helpful, and organised various things for us. We arrived at 7.30am and were in our room by 9 (after a nice breakfast). The food was fine, but the menu quite limited. We were really impressed by this place, including the tours they organised, which were really excellent!

My friend and I stayed at the Kelebek for five days. First, we loved Goreme and could have stayed there longer. If we had, we would have continued staying at Kelebek. We became friends with some locals and discovered that Kelebek has a very good reputation amongst locals as a hotel that tries to offer first class accomodations. They are expanding into another building which one of the workers showed us and all the rooms were lovely. The hotel is very beautiful and the views of the terrace amazing. The rooms are also wonderful. The negative side of staying in this hotel besides the climbing to get there is the service and staff. They are not attentive and at breakfast nobody will pay any attention to you unless you get up every time you want a cup of coffee and get it yourself.
