Hotel Sari Konak Istanbul

My husband and I spent several days in mid-May 2006 at the Sari Konak. We had a wonderful experience. The rooms are spotless, the staff is gracious and anxious to help in any way, and the location in Istanbul can't be beat. Although it is in the heart of Sultanahmet and in the shadow of the Blue Mosque, the hotel is located on a quiet street and guests can be assured a restful night's sleep. My partner and I stayed at Sari Konak in mid May 2006 and loved the hotel. It was the perfect start and the perfect finish to every single day in Istanbul. The breakfast was wonderful way to start a day in Istanbul (we are now preparing this kind of breakfast at home) and it was delightful to eat outdoors in the lovely garden. We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights between 26 April 2006 and 1 May 2006. Istanbul is beautiful and this hotel is fantastically located to see all the sites. We walked almost everywhere during the day (the Dolmabahce Palace being the only exception) and found the major sites to be easy to find. We stayed at the Sari Konak 3 nights late April 26th. Arrangements were made directly with the hotel and e-mails were answered promptly. The promised transport van was waiting at the airport (Euro 25 -worth it as it turned out...our flight from NY was delayed 6 hrs and our daughter arrived alone from Chicago on time....I had peace of mind that she was safe and taken care of...the rest of us latecomers took a Taxi...cost Lira 23) The hotel is staffed by young, friendly people who are very helpful, speak enough English to give good... more

great small hotel in central istanbul yet very quiet location Service excellent and rooms reasonable . Only complaint was over hard bed . Would use again as excellent base for visiting city sites.

Our few days in the Sari Konak introduced us to the thougtfulness and generosity of the Turkish people . From arranging just the right room, taxi pick-ups, bus connections, and Turkish baths we felt safe and well cared for. Sari Konak is in the most desirable location of the historic area so the Bosporus is close to the south and the Blue Mosque to the north. We walked as far as the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Market. Delicious breakfasts were an added bonus. ..would love to go back.

We just returned from our trip in Istanbul which is a great city...Im very happy that we made the best hotel choice which made our trip an unforgettable one !...Sarikonak is in a great spot where Blue mosque and St Sophie is in 1 minute walking distance which makes everything much more easier..The rooms are very comfortable and very tastefully designed. My partner and I stayed at The Sari Konak for four nights from 14th April and were frankly underwhelmed. From the outset, I should say that this is largely because our expectations had been raised to a very high level by the earlier rave reviews and the hotel's position as best hotel in Istanbul. Having never stayed in any other Istanbiul hotel I have nothing to compare it with, but find it hard to believe The Four Seasons or Pera Palas to be inferior. First of all I have to stress how safe you feel in this hotel. We stayed for three nights before moving north of the Golden Horn where someone attempted to mug us and where my 7 year old daughter felt very unsafe. After calling the Sari Konak they managed to fit us back into their hotel and were extremely accommodating. As for the hotel, it is beautifully furnished, the staff are extremely helpful and breakfasts are beautiful. We are very happy to choose Sarikonak for our stay in Istanbul. Great location , very nice staff. The rooms are very well decorated and comfortable. We stayed in one of the suite rooms which we liked a lot. The view in the rooftop terrace is amazing. I cant think of a better place to stay in Istanbul. We will definately come back!
