Wish I could say it was excellent.
from Teessider_7
We booked having read the reviews on here and in many respects the hotel lived up to expectations, however we were disappointed in a number of respects: Firstly the beds were the most uncomfortable we've ever slept in. A king size bed was actually two singles pushed together each with the least supportive mattresses imaginable. After 4 nights I was in serious discomfort from back pain. No matter how lovely the surroundings if you can't sleep at night then your holiday is spoilt. The room was fine with fabulous view (worth the extra for a sea view), however there was no directory of hotel facilities and the only english TV channels were BBC News 24, BBC3 and BBC World. Otherwise it was a very nice hotel(3-4 star though and definitely not 5 star) and the staff were generally amongst the most friendly and helpful I've encountered. I would return but only if I knew that the beds had been replaced.
Valparaiso Palace Worst 5* hotel We Have Ever Stayed in.
from remus1
Trip Advisor Member Bath England. On the tripadvisor recommendation as the No1 hotel in Majorca. We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights on a half board basis in a Junior Suite from 24/08/07. at a cost of £1200.00 The management at this hotel failed miserably to achieve the basic standard of communication with guests either verbally or written. We arrived and had to carry our cases up a number of steep steps to the reception area. We checked in at 11am and after a delay of 4 hours we reached the suite. The staff on at reception were complacent and indifferent and it was through my own iniative that I insisted that the key to the suite be given to me without further delay, otherwise we were checking out! During all this time our baggage was placed in an unlocked unattended room. I could have taken anyones baggage it was so lax here that I was concerned over the security provided by the management. The suite was not fully equipped there was no guest information book on the hotel, and this really did cause us problems No Telephone information or directory. The safe had no operational information. There was no additional bedding or pillows etc. The carpet was stained. I had words at the restaurant over the booking of a table for half board guests, the restaurant did not know we were on half board. At breakfast the restaurant had teaspoons and table spoons but no dessert spoons. In the evening the range of wines was very limited. I later discovered that this hotel was operated by TUI and was a Thomson Hotel. I have no complaints about the quality of the food that was superb. However if you anticipate a 5* hotel what you get here is a 4T thomson
Nice Hotel But Not 5 Star
from "G"WestSussex
We have just returned from this hotel after a week in not so sunny Mallorca. The hotel appearance overall is as you would expect from a 5 star and the room (junior suite) was excellent. The pools where clean and would recommend the health spa. As a family our main area of concern with this hotel was with the food on offer for the following reasons: 1. For evening meal you have a choice of the main restaurant which has a small choice of fish and meat dishes, no vegetarian option (1 family member is vegetarian!), and the menu was the same each night or you can eat in the Bistro-bar which offered less fancy creations and offered vegetarian options but again was the same menu every night and only had limited choices, for example you had a choice of only 4 deserts being: Ice-cream, apple tart, sorbet and chocolate mouse! This was also the same menu at lunch-time as well. 2. Lunch time meals could be taken in the Bistro or ordered from the pool bar (Gamba Palace), the pool bar menu was small but this is to be expected and they did do a salad bar option (not a very good one contra to a previous reviewers comments). 3. The breakfast however was excellent! We had booked half-board and had the delight of eating in the restaurants whilst most guests went into town, the only exception to this was a BBQ night on the Wednesday which was very good and well attended. Thereafter we eat out. We did complain to the restaurant manager regarding lack of choice and to his credit he did say that if we gave him 24hrs notice chef would make whatever we wanted. We did take him up on this on the Tueday night but to be honest the food was not up to much. Overall would recommend the hotel on a B&B basis only and on that you could put 5 stars as for the other dining delights would only give it 3/4 star rating, just eat out at night is the answer and we would recommend Baisakhi Hindu Restaurant in Palma its an experience not to be missed!
A succesful return visit
from genise
We recently returned to this hotel, after an absence of nine years, and found it even better than we had remembered. Since our last visit, a new pool area in the gardens had replaced the old lake. This has excellent facilities including a restaurant open in the summer season. We had a large room with a balcony overlooking the Bay of Palma and with plenty of wardrobe space. We found all the staff friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was superb, and we also ate lunch a few times in the Poolside Bistro. We went in to Palma for dinner, as there is such a large choice of restaurants, especially if you like fish. Although the hotel is a few kilometres outside Palma, it is very accessible. Air conditioned buses stop outside, and the town centre is a 15 minute ride away for the princely sum of 1 euro 10 cents. There is also a taxi rank. We had a wonderfully relaxing holiday, and plan to return as soon as we can. Thoroughly recommended.
Hotel to be returned once again
from Gabryte
This is my second time in this hotel and I admire not only the service hotel provide for the guests but also the location. As we always rent a car, so hotel is in perfect place to reach driving. If you get a room with see view, you will be fascinated by incredible look to the Palma marina, especially in the night time. Hotel holds 3 swimming pools and just new spa corner. I was fascinated by different type of saunas and health complexes to be offered. But be ready to start for single type of massage from 70 – 80 EUR. If you like going fitness sports – you are in the right place, you will find more or less all type of necessary equipment in the gym for all types of exercises. Be ready that there are no TV or music in the Gym. Book you dinner table in advance if you decide not to go to the city. Wireless in higher floors is working with distraction. So better go downstairs if you want to safe your nerves fighting the signals and networking. Rooms are large but in some places scrubby. In all other cases this hotel is perfect place to stay and enjoy. By the way – I have not seen much things what to do for children. I would recommend this place if you stay for 2 – 3 nights.
Great Hotel
from AberdeenAbdn
Just back from a weeks stay at this quality hotel. Some previous reviews mentioned dated furniture in the rooms but I would disagree. The room was large with quality furniture, fantastic bathroom and balcony with views over Palma bay. Bathrobes, slippers and towels for the large pool area were provided in the room. (The spa area was fantastic.) On arrival we received a bottle of wine and fruit in the room and the service of staff was second to none. As highlighted before the hotel is up a steep hill and a few minutes walk from the large Porto Pi shopping centre. (Opposite end of of bay from Cathedral beside the Cruise Ships.) Nice to see proper Champagne at breakfast and not Cava and would recommend the salad buffet beside the pool at lunch-time, 16 Euro per person but pure quality. The main problem with the hotel is that it is so relaxing you dont want to venture out during the day!
Quality at a price
from blakieman
Top quality hotel with excellent staff. Ideal for couples or those seeking some peaceful laziness by the pool. The food in the hotel is generally very good but is, in my opinion, over priced; make use of the bus or taxi and get into Palma centre where there are many restaurants. Highly recommended !
Lovely in every way
from SWP
Just returned from five nights at this lovely hotel. To a person the staff were fantastic. We had two sea view rooms and the views over Palma are spectacular. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the breakfast was superb, the sangria by the pool almost as intoxicating as the relaxed atmosphere. I read the other reveiws on Trip Advisor before we booked but did not expect to be so impressed. The spa is fantastic and a very relaxing way to spend a few hours after a hard day of sightseeing. I had three treatments with three different therapists and all were top notch. My only criticism is that the room furnishings themselves are a bit dated but this in no way spoiled our overall enjoyment of the hotel. The rooms were spotless and the bathrooms very modern. We had some fantastic dinners at some very different restaurants....Eduardo's Restaurant....old world, local fish restaurant, Bahia Mediterran, upscale restaurant with v. good food, silver service and fabulous views of the bay of Palma. All in all we were very impressed and will be sure to return.
Absolutely Faultless

We stayed following reading the tripadvisor reviews, have never stayed in Palma so was unsure where would be good, but tripadvisor did the trick again and it was spot on, we got 2 x double sea view rooms (single Occupancy) for £85 per room B & B on medhotels. Rooms are far better than standard holiday hotel and bathroms are first class as well, beautiful big picture window as well as patio doors make for great light and the view is out of this world. The staff were amazing, a special metion to Samantha, the english girl on the front desk, she really couldnt have done more, and really cared whether we were having a good time, and she recommends some great resaurants to us as well. Pools are beautiful and clean, the enormous mattress on the sunbeds, the spa, well what can I say? it was immaculate and the themal circuit....if that was in Manchester I think I would never leave! The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I have ever seen, every type of food available, fresh smoothies, fruit, pastries, cereal, hot breakfast, eggs cooked how you like, fresh omlettes, usual fare and then Champagne to wash it down with...not bad eh? Only 8 euro into Palma and 10 euro into Puerto Portals. Really great place made even better by the staff
Fantastic Hotel
from Yelroc
We stayed at the Valparaiso Palace for one Week as part of our Honeymoon and were sad to leave it. It was a fanatastic hotel. The food alone was exceptional. Our room was bright, airy and very clean and comfortable. We were overlooking the bay which was great. The hotel spa, which you had free use of, was nothing short of pure luxury. Service was excellent and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The swimming pools are great and lots of sunbeds around. The gardens are really lovely too. You are about a 30 min walk from Palma ( a lot of hills though) There are buses from outside the hotel and also no shortage of Taxis. Lots to do and see. Beautiful restaurants and pubs around too.
