Megara Palace

the place is fine, right beside the Topaki palace. great and kind staff there and room is good morning breakfast is fine and view of restaurant is good most of all good hotel for such prices (single room 27euro per day)

We were here for 4 nights in January and we enjoyed our stay very much. The location is perfect. Agia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, Topaki Palace, nice restaurants are 5 to 10 minutes away from the hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. At the reception you will meet the front office manager Mr. Ali Gokgur who is extremely accommodating and efficient. We were here for 5 nights and we enjoyed our stay very much. The location is excellent, everything within easy walking distance of the Agia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Big Bazaar, etc, etc. The hotel is about 100 m away from the "hostel" street (loud bars, cafés, hostels) which made it relatively quiet, except for the morning prayers (very loud, but everywhere in the city). We stayed at Megara Palace for 3 nights in September, 1 night in the beginning of the trip and two nights at the end of the trip after touring throughout Turkey. Of all the hotels we stayed at throughout the country, Megara Palace was definitely our favorite. The location is excellent, right across the street from the walls of Topkapi and just down the street from Hagia Sophia. And the upper level rooms have a view of the Bosphorus. We moved here after a horrible experience in one of the backpackers around the corner. It was a livesaver. Charming, friendly and very comfortable it is very good value for money. Our children loved the parrot and the kittens in the lobby. One of the staff took time out to teach my son backgammon. Highly recommended and a good price.

We stayed one night, then traveled western Turkey for a week, returned for two nights, then traveled in the vicinity for three more days. The management was extremely accommodating, not only keeping our second travel bags to lighten our load for the week of travel to western Turkey, but also allowing us to store them there for the three days when we were going to return to the hotel's Sultanahmet area but not stay in the hotel. Stayed in Megara Palace for three rainy nights in April 2008. Location is ace as long as you avoid the horrible "backpacker lane" round the corner. The room was tiny but clean; facilities adequate. Room located next to reception, with ground floor window facing the street, so noise was a bit of a problem (the first night's sleep was - rather amusingly - absolutely sabotaged by a very talkative parrot kept in the lobby, but staff put it to sleep somewhere else after I asked them to...). We stayed at the Megara Place for 4 nights. I had reserved the suites because they had more room and balconies. They were definately larger rooms and very nice balconies overlooking the Bosphorous. They were on the 4th floor - walk up only. Our rooms were very nice and very clean. All of the linens were crispy white and new, i thought. Our room, the largest, had a queen bed and a single also. The staff is very helpful and friendly. the room was small, but the bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was very small as well. Breakfast was simple, but adequate (cereal, feta cheese, olives, hard boiled eggs, bread, butter and jam, fruits, coffee,tea, juice)., the location is terrific near the Blue Mosque and Topaki Palace. Right in the heart of Sultanamet where all the action is. Not comparable to the Hilton Hotel, but a good value. Save taxi money and walk to the attractions. Speaking of taxis == I am less... more
