Hotel Peninsula

Ecellent for the price. We were lucky to get in during peak season after the Peninsulas was recommended to us. The staff were friendly, helpful and informative. Traditional breakfast was the best we had in Turkey. Room clean and serviced daily. Plenty of hot water. Air conditioner cooled the room quickly and quietly. Location brilliant. Right next to a mosque for early wake-up call!

Hotel Peninsula is nicely situated in the mid of Old Istanbul's greatest cultural treasures. Topkapi is around the corner and not so mucht further away you'll find Aya Sofya, Blue Mosque and lots of other interesting buildings and architecture. This fabulous little hotel has to have one of the best terrace views in Sultanahmet. A stone's throw away from the Ayasofya and the Blue Mosque and unobstructed views in all directions: minarets, old city walls, a distant lighthouse, the Bosphorous and the Sea of Marmara - truly panoramic! Perfectly located in the cobblestone streets of the old city, clean and comfortable rooms with a touch of character, and friendly staff - exactly the kind of place where you want to take refuge at the end of an intense day of sightseeing. And those views...!

The location of this hotel is prime, less than 10 minutes walking distance from several major sites, the water and the tram. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were adequate and clean but the beds hard and small.

I stayed at the Peninsula Hotel for 9 nights while visiting Istanbul. I loved my trip so much, in part, because of the great experience I had at the hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They were very eager to help me figure out directions to outlying cities, book tickets to shows, or schedule my shuttle pick-up for the airport. Have been to the Peninsula Hotel many times, hung out in Istanbul one summer and a week here and there, taking Turkish classes on Istiqlal Cad, etc. I didn't review this hotel as I tend to admire projects of the people whom I like. My husband and I stayed here for a week during the month of May and were pleasantly enthused with the warm reception and service we recieved during our stay. We had found the hotel in our guidebook and chose them on what seemed to be good value for the facilities provided. I am happy to say we weren't dissapointed. I have traveled to Istanbul many times and have found Peninsula to be the place I will always stay. The location is perfect and the hotel is a beautiful little gem. I especially love the rooftop, in the summer I can lay on hammocks and read with Aya Sofia and Blue Mosque in my peripheal vision. the breakfast is fantastic, with homemade yogurt and fruit preserves and real brewed coffee. This little yellow place is fifty percent of the reason i keep coming back to "The City." The other fifty you will be able to work out yourself after a few hours strolling around. I stumbled on the Peninsula quite by accident flicking through the LP guidebook, saw that it was one of the few with traditional ottoman dining tables, and I gave it a go. We just returned from a 3 night trip to Istanbul. On our last trip, over the summer, we stayed at the Hotel next door, the Alp Guesthouse, but we thought we should try this hotel because it was a bit cheaper and it had the same types of rooms. Big mistake. I am very disappointed that the reviews for this hotel aren't worse, because I based a lot of my final decision on them. It has not been renovated recently.
