well isnt it a good job we all have our own opinions ! have just returned from this fab hotel having booked a last minute hol for the first week of the kids hols and having read some peoples reviews am glad we decided to chance it.everything about our hol was great,the rooms,food,staff,pool and gorgeous views over the med.if i had to find faults they would be minor ones such as ; staff should speak more english and do entertainment in english,signs around hotel should be in english,bar should open later than 11pm and you should be able to keep all inclusive wristbands until leaving the hotel.all in all we really enjoyed the week even though there were not many english there and having two teenage boys we worried about that but they have now made lots of new friends of different nationalities and are going to keep in touch so the language barrier wasnt a problem.the hotel was mainly dominated by the french but at the end of the day you dont go to spain to be with english people otherwise you may as well stay in england . we would definately go back to this hotel again.

Having read the reviews on this website I was wary of what to expect when I arrived at the hotel. However, having spent a week there I can safely say that many of the issues raised in previous reviews were not so much of an issue, particularly the issues on language "barriers". Firstly, I found that the entertainers and satff spoke good english. With regards those who say the activities were all in french this IS NOT true. I took part in 5 activities within which I was directed in English, as long as they knew you were English they would accomodate you by speaking to you in English. I can only presume those that said all activities were in French were not willing to take part in them. Why should all hotels be English anyway, would the french not have the same complaints about English speaking hotels all over the world. In my opinion if you are willing to fit in then you will be accomodated in all activities. One thing I will say is that teh sports equipment could be of a better quality and tennis/sports courts better maintained. By the end of our stay there were more and more english people there, which is possibly one reason for the entertainment being undertaken containing more english than early in the visit. I cannot speak for the kids activities on languages undertaken, but the staff seemed really good with the kids and they also spoke english. The food in the hotel got better as the week went on, was slightly disappointed on the first night when there was nothing really spanish there, when I go away I like to get involved in the culture of a place rather than keep all things english, otherwise what's the point! There was a lot of choice at meal times for starter, main course and, in particular, desserts. The desserts were probably the better part of the food. The onyl real disappointment of my stay was our room. I cannot comment on the main building as we were in a smaller out building. Having said that the room was spacious enough foir the 2 of us, plenty of storage and was cleaned everyday. I will say that sheets were not changed all week and towels changed once. Was a weird feeling being walked through the hotel and then outside when being taken to your room on arrival. This building was not accessible through the hotel after midnight, which meant a walk around the grounds, or a shortcut through the bushes, which was not too much of an issue to myself. Lighting around the grounds could have been better. Bar and restaurant staff worked very hard. Guy flipping the burgers had slight attitude. Pool area was nice, with plenty of sunloungers. With regards the walk to the beach I can only say that the previous complaints, of nowhere to get a drink and paying for sunloungers, is that they went to the wrong beach. There are 2 beaches there, one left at the bottom of the steps and the other to the right. If you go right, towards Hotel America then you get to the main beach with a bar and FREE sunloungers. And also, the steps maybe a bit steep, but I have had to walk down steeper steps in the UK and that there is more than one way to get there, withe the alternative way being mostly downhill. The resort itself is not really booming with nightlife, however there are 2 clubs open til 5am. 2 good pubs right opposite the hotel and great cocktail bar near the mini golf. Overall I can say that I would go back to this hotel. What I will say is that you will only enjoy your stay there if you are willing to participate and try to fit in, as the staff and entertainers will accomodate you by speaking english. Holiday itself was what I thought it would be and not as much to do as on a city holiday, but overall a good experience.

arrived in hotel - reception very helpful sent us straight down for dinner of we would have missed it - arrived at 2.30pm dinner finishes at 3.30pm as an hour or so later we went down to the pool - which is very larger - was busy but we found sunbeds - also very clean and tidy - lots of sunbeds we booked this holiday as a late booking - but still paid over average due to weather in england (lots of floads) took our girl of 9 years old - thats where the problem starts all kids clubs - entertainment - reps - all mainly just speak french so she could not join in as normally she would have done - she did have ago on odd occasion to not much success adults evening entertainment the same all in french - don`t try and play bingo!! hotel-good-clean-tidy-rooms cleaned daily no matter what time oof day-but entertainment not as much fun unless you speak french hope this helps-have a good holiday

Must agree with jendyscot.fife the posting is a good reflection of what the hotel and resort are like. We dont like pools so the lower gardens were perfect for us just to sit and laze about in the sun. The food was ok but like any all incl it was very repetative. There were lots of French and Polish/ Bosnians so there was abit of a lack of good manners as these lot dont like to stand in a Q. Over all it wasn't a bad holiday although I wouldn't rush back. If you do go to this resort you MUST visit the Bar Guitaraas and meet the 'Adams Family' what a laugh.

Before reading any further this hotel is basically a French hotel, with some German, Bosnia, Spanish and very little British guests. The resort has nothing to do except sunbath allday and get free drinks from the all inclusive - if that is you thing then read on ! We arrived at the Palia Maria Eugenia on an afternoon flight from Edinburgh and we were immediately checked in. The entrance and reception were clean and tidy and the reception staff spoke reasonable english. We were all inclusive so we had to pay €10 each for the deposit for the all inclusive bands, returnable on check out. We were given our room key and a leaflet about the hotel. The room we had was twin beds, (as I gathered every room was from speaking to other guests), it was spacious for the two of us, there was: - a fan on the roof - no air conditioning - a built-in double wardrobe - a large dressing table with 5 drawers - one bed side cabinet with 1 drawer - a safe (€22 in total - €13 for the rental of the safe and €9 returnable deposit back for the key) - a modern bathroom, with very powerful shower over a bath. However our bathroom did on more than 1 occassional smell like a sewer - not sure if there were problems with the plumbing as there was nothing visible. - a reasonable sized balcony, 2 plastic chairs and a small table. We were unlucky enough to have our balcony face the street and local nightclub which was open from 7pm - 5am! I had approx. 2-3hours sleep per night for the whole week as either the locals were sitting on the hotel wall shouting with their mates racing up and down the road on mopeds and beeping horns or the tourists were bladdered chanting Oggy oggy oggy oiy oiy oiy continually, as well as the rubbish trucks emptying bins at all times of the night / early morning. - the rooms had fresh sheets once a week and fresh towels every 3 days but the maid did clean the room daily to a high standard. - T.V. (€10 returnable deposit for the remote control, don't bother there are no english channels - although at about 2-3pm & about midnight the channel called TV Polenska has a soap opera with english subtitles ha ha) I was really impressed with the range of drinks available at the bar, you could get just about anything, e.g. baileys, malibu, ameretto (all prior are cheaper versions of the real thing), white/rose/red wine, vodka, white / dark rum, whisky, slush puppies, lager, lemon / orange fanta, coke, diet coke, all varieties of fresh fruit juices as well as a self-service pump for water. The barmen work there socks off all day long, and if anyone leaves them a tip they ring a bell at the bar. Also at the opposite side of the where the drinks are served there is chef who makes hamburgers / hotdogs and chips from about 11am - 3pm then he makes fresh crepes from 3.30pm-5.30pm, there is also fresh sandwiches there for self-serve to all guests. The kids can also get ice-cream from the barmen. All inclusive usual menus: The breakfast buffet consisted of mini frankfurters, beans, boiled and poached eggs, streaky bacon, several kinds of bread for toasting, sliced ham, cheese, butter, margarine, jams, french rolls, croissants, biscuits, apples, melon, dates, cereals, yoghurt, Coffee, Tea, orange juice, pinapple juice and mixed orange and pineapple juice, water, etc... The lunch and evening buffet consisted of chips, various salad items on a counter, various cold meats,freshly cooked meat by a chef on duty, grated cheese, various vegetables, fish, pork, pasta, pasta sauces, paella, potatoes cooked in various ways, soup, french bread rolls, rose/red wine carafe, water carafe, fruits, various deserts. Swimming pool is lovely and open from 10am - 7pm. It has a smaller kids pool at one end and on the whole parents stayed with there kids at that end of the pool so plenty room to swim without being dive bombed! There were always plenty of sunloungers and if there were none around the pool, sun loungers could be found on the lower terraces surrounding the back of the hotel. There is a games room for kids adjoined to the main bar. There was a great animacion team for kids and adults alike who would try and involve all nationalities and translate as best they could although we never go involved with the water pool, french boules, basketball, football, tennis, table tennis and other events they ran thoroughout the day. The reception area has internet facilities ( 50 cent = 5mins, 1 euro = 10 mins and 2 euros = 20 mins) however just across the street in the shopping centre there is a cyber cafe which is €3 -6 per hour. The hotel has entertainment everynight, which was directed to a French audience they had sketch shows, flamenco dancers and a disco. It is approximately about €3-4 per drink in the local bars, although in the shopping centre across the road there is a bar that does buy 1 get 1 free from 1pm - closing i think?? The pubs don't really get going until about from 11pm onwards. There is not really anything to do in Cales de Mallorca, there is an excursion shop across the road from the hotel you can book to go to Aqualand, marineland, glass bottomed boat trip, day trips to palma and magaluf/palma nova, ranch and rodeo nights, etc. We book for aqualand it cost €70 for two all together for transfers and entrance to the park a s'Arenal - great day of fun. To go the local beach you can get there by taking the steep steps at the back of the hotel with no hand rails, this would be difficult with young kids ( especially a buggie) or very difficult for elderly or those with mobility problems. Once you reach the main pathway follow it to you right for a 5 minute walk and you will then reach the beach - this has no area for refreshments. The beach is very busy as it is used by several hotels. There are sunloungers and parasols that can be hired - not sure how much though. The views from the back of the hotel are amazing. The hotel was ok but no air conditioning made it very uncomfortable, the entertainment was aimed at the French guests and the noise at night / lack of things to do definately have made up my mind that we would never return to this hotel or Cales de Mallorca.

Firstly let me say we are not overly fussy people. We have backpacked around the world. But this hotel was a hugh disapointment to us. Firstly, the daily maid service consisted of making the beds and thats it. No cleaning was done at all. From about the 2nd day there was a horrendous smell coming from the drains in the bathroom and that stayed for the duration of the holiday. Also the shower diminshed to a trickle on the 3rd day & stayed this way. Also the sheets on the bed had holes in them and there was no air conditioning just a ceiling fan pushing the hot air around. The table on the balcony was rusty and the lush gardens are not very lush! If you are at the back of the hotel you have great views. If you are at the front as we were they are of a car park and shops. We were all inclusive and although the food was ok it was the same thing every day just in a different sauce. Also all your drinks are served in plastic cups. If you have walking problems then dont bother coming as there are numerous steps that are very steep. Signs are written in French so unless you are fluent in French you will not understand them and all the entertainment is in French...so not very entertaining for us. Most of the staff are however friendly enough and the room was nicely decorated but no were near as big as looks on website. But, after this experience we would never go here again and it has put us off all inclusive for good.

We have just returned from this hotel and I have to say would never return. As said before on other reviews the food is very good and available all day, "all inclusive" well this is arguable, all drinks in plastic glasses with 1/2 pint of lager including 1/6 pint froth. The barmen overall work very hard as do the reception staff. I strongly dissagree the entertainers made an effort to use english, in fact I felt like an outcast. Even warning signs are written in french which would be very dangerous for children. The daytime activities are all in french and clearly dominated by them making it hard to take part. The evening entertainment from outside is great, but by the resident entertainment group is not even amatuer. The resort is dirty and the hotel has a steep set of steps down to a walkway then 500 yards to the beach. No way would I ever return to this hotel.

We travelled to PME in late June 2007, and we absolutely thrilled with the place. I'd had terrible panics that it would be terrible food, awful drunk chavs etc etc but in fact I can't fault the place. We booked an All Inclusive deal through travelrepublic for under £300 per person, incl transfers and flights. Hotel Location PME is about 50km out of Palma, and it’s a quiet resort. It’s situated on a clifftop and a short walk away is the beach of Calas Domingos (which was very crowded – we stayed by the pool). The hotel seems to be favoured by mostly French and Germans, which is mainly why I chose it. The English on holiday can be bloody awful. There's a pub and a disco opposite, which wasn't a problem in terms of noise- latest it was open was about 1am. Behind this are the usual Spanish resort type souvenier shops, the ubiquitous Irish pub, restaurants serving excellent fresh seafood, perfume, cigarettes, alcohol and pearl jewellery shops. Be sure to visit Wilkommen bei Ulli und Gabi (German Pub) which serves E1.80 glasses of dry champagne! Rooms Our room was lovely, it faced the street side which meant it got the evening sun (better than the morning!) and the balcony was equipped with a washing line, two chairs, ashtray and a table. The beds were made with crisp sheets and a counterpane, and one pillow. The mattresses were a bit hard, but I found I became used to them after a couple of sleeps. The room has a desk, and bedside table. The bathroom had a bath, shower (incredibly good one too!) and loo. Towels were soft too. The curtains were blockout and made sure the room was completely dark. We had a wardrobe with some shelves and hanging space- ideal amount of space for two. There was a TV, if you wanted to pay the ten euros deposit. But who comes on holiday to watch telly? It was incredibly clean, and our beds were made up daily. Food Wow. Just wow. I’d heard all kinds of horror stories about the food on All Inclusives and this one put my fears to rest. Fresh salads, pasta, chips, paella, prawns, mussels, roast pork and grilled fish were all served whilst we were there and there was plenty served. Pudding was usually ice cream and fresh fruit like pineapple, watermelon and peaches, as well as a vast array of cheeses too. Wine was served on every table at lunch and dinner time. In addition to this, breakfast was bacon, eggs, beans, and toast with cereals, yoghurt and fresh fruit also available. The coffee was excellent too. In between all this, hamburgers and hot dogs were served between breakfast and after lunch there were crepes with sauces. The bar was well stocked and the spirit measures almost too generous. Pool The pool area was paved with flagstones and had lots of sunloungers everywhere, as well as umbrellas with tables and chairs. There are two pools, a childrens and a large almost 50m pool which was very very clean and not too cold – just refreshing. Those with families tended to stay up the end with theh children’s pool, and the rest of us took the other end. This meant we were largely undisturbed by the activities in the pool which the Animation team seemed to put on three times a day and kept the kids busy. I couldn’t fault this place. The staff were friendly, spoke lots of languages and the food was brilliant. If you want a quiet holiday without clubbing and lager louts, then I recommend this place.

My partner and I have just returned from Mallorca on 28th June. We had a fantastic time at the Maria Eugenia. The hotel was lovely, clean, big and our room had a fabulous view of the sea! The pool is olympic sized so it never felt crowded, there were plenty of sun loungers and been all inclusive there is food and drink on tap all day!!! Our room did not have air conditioning, instead we had a ceiling fan which worked very well and we didn't have one night where we were too hot. The hotel is mainly a french resort with the odd german and english couple/families there. We did not find this a problem as the entertainers tried there upmost to translate so we could understand!! From what we could see they had a very good Kids club programme for all nationalities. The beach was approximately 1/2 mile away, there is a short cut round the back of the hotel but if you have walking difficulties then you may find this a problem. The beach although small is lovely and not too deep! All in all we had a fab time and would definately go back!

went to the palia maria eugenia as a last minute holiday and didnt know what to expect. it was the best first holiday u cud ever have imagined. it was a french resort so if u have a problem with the french dnt go but we didnt the staff and others on holiday were really friendly and helpful. being irish it was a shock about the food but i must say the food was so delicious and healthy it was a great experience. shops were directly across the street and the beach was a five minute walk if u took the scenic route the views from the hotel are amazing!!!! pool was brillant lots of sun loungers and they even had a grass area if u didnt want to get bothered with kids by the pool!!! only problem we had was with the entertainment it was done all in french and although we had no children with us it would have been nice to be able to watch the entertainment. What the boucheres say about this hotel are abosolutly spot-on!!! surroundin area is full of english tho so if u want a non english evnironment go to the palia maria eugenia
