Good but shame that the 7th floor was being refurbished
from SimonButler
Stayed here for two nights (June 3-5 2006). Really good hotel but as others have said it is a shame that the 7th floor was being refurbished while we were there. This was a major selling point for me and my 5 year old son was especially disappointed. The pool downstairs didn't see much sun during the day so was pretty cold to swim in. Couldn't fault the staff though, they were very friendly and helpful and spoke perfect English. Breakfast was great and there was a huge range of food to choose from. Delecious bread and pastries; great fresh orange juice and the cooked breakfast was nice too. You could even help yourself to a glass of wine or cava although we never did (bit to early for that sort of thing!) Our 3rd floor room had a view of the pool and sun area downstairs and was very quiet. The balcony was a great place to enjoy a late night drink and book while my son slept in the room. Bathroom was very clean and included a spa bath which my 5 year old greatly enjoyed. Beds were very comfortable. Would have got 5/5 from me if the roof was open or I had been informed that it was closed. Therefore 4/5 is a fair relection I think.
great location but hotel over-rated on this site
from TOMMYTURNIP
I have just returned from this hotel after spending 7 nights from May27th. I have on many occasions used this website for hotel review and left reviews myself. I had,i felt, done enough research on this one to have no fears whatsoever. On arriving at the hotel which was a pleasant 10-15minute taxi drive (16euros) from the airport, we were informed that the 7th floor pool and adjacent cafe bar would be shut for the duration of our trip. That was very dissappointing considering the hotel had plenty of opportunities to notify me of this over the previous 2 weeks of email contact for reservations /sea view room requests etc. Also this pool and view was one of the outstanding features of the hotel. The double room on the 6th floor had a sea view/town view from the small balcony which was very nice but was a basic room to be honest. There was no tea/coffee making facilities , poor choice of tv channels and not even a radio available. The bathroom was clean but basic. For a four star hotel i also find it amazing you have to pay for the safe...albeit 10 euros i still think it is a bit of a cheek. The breakfast was good but could have had a little more variation, but that is a minor complaint. We ate out every night but had drinks and snacks at the hotel during the day which were good and reasonably priced. The pool that was available was small but refreshing but in peak season could be much too small if the hotel was busy.Fortunately this week it was quiet and therefore hardly used. The first weekend of our trip there was a scramble for sun loungers as there was not enough to go around as most were still on the top floor and shut off.It resulted in a "german" style towel rush before breakfast also resulting in the manager instructing junior staff to remove them and thus facing the full backlash of the punters. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and could not be faulted. The location of the hotel was ideal for the main shops and restaurants etc and indeed turned out to be the main plus point. I think also it should be a policy of the users of this site to state actually what they paid for their room as people do get ripped off if they don't dig their heels in for a competitive price. We paid 155 euros plus vat for a double room but after complaint about the top floor pool etc received a 10% discount...Palma was great and a place i will definitely visit again but will think twice about the hotel again.
Good - but disappointed that bar being refurbished
from gillygeegee
I would agree with most of what other reviewers state. Good location - we requested an upper room with a sea view - you can see the habour - only issue was some noise from street drinkers who seem to congregate from time to time in park / area below and some traffic nosie, although curtains and a sort of sun / noise blocker type curtain layer does help. I was also disappointed that bar on 7th floor was closed for work when we were there (April 23rd for a few days). Rooms overlooking pool at bottom on lower floors would not have much of a view but less noise, suppose what you gain with one you lose with the other as it was lovely to watch the world go by from balcony! Lovely breakfast, staff friendly and helpful, central location, inner bathroom lacked ventilation (was a window which seemed to open into a funnel area between bathrooms and smells from other bathrooms unfortunately!!!) .... food in bar (which was relocated to ground floor) and restaurant food was fab - plenty to see within walking difference, felt safe to walk around late at night as well.
Brilliant Hotel, Fabulous Location

We have just returned from a four day stay in the Saratoga. From the airport the taxi was around €18 each way and took only a matter of 10mins. There were six of us travelling, all ladies, and from we arrived we could not fault the hotel at all. The breakfast was great, super choice and you could have bucks fizz if you wanted every day! We ate in the hotel restaurant on the night we arrived, as it was around 9.45pm, the menu mainly consisted of fish and a few meat dishes also, however we had no problem choosing something and of whta we got it was lovely. The room's were all pool view and had a lovely balcony with table and chairs if you wanted to sit out. Bathrooms were lovely, appeared to be recently refurbished. The furnishings in our bedroom were lovely, wooden floors etc, although the other rooms had tiled floors which were also lovely. The staff were very helpful and friendly throughout the hotel which really is appreciated. Location was perfect for both shopping and sight seeing. All in all I will definately stay at the Saratoga again and would recommeded it without hesitation.
Well worth it's 4 stars
from lawrence_97
The Saratoga deserves it's 4 star rating. The hotel is very comfortable and well maintained. The room was a good size, with a safe, minibar and large balcony. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and included champagne. The hotel includes 2 outdoor pools, the first at the ground floor level seemed to be in shade quite a lot, but the highlight was the rooftop pool 8 floors up with panoramic views across the old walls of Palma and to the beautiful cathedral. This is Palma's main sight, and is very near to this hotel.
Idealy placed for City, Museums & Cathedral
from chrisjl51
Very pleasant stay, staff attentive if required but not intrusive. The room was clean & well equiped (everything worked). 2 Pools (both outdoor so we didn't use them as this was November). Near the Museum of Modern Art & just off the Avenue Jaume 111 for shopping, View of the Harbour & Marina. No hidden charges - very efficient. We would recomend this & stay there again.
Excellent Hotel!
from BobWBL
We stayed at the Saratoga Hotel in Palma for a weekend at the beginning of November and I would highly recommend this hotel. Our room was newly decorated, clean and the furnishings were very up-to-date with a queen size bed. We also had a harbour view from our balcony. The breakfast on a morning was excellent with bucks fizz, tea/coffee, cooked breakfast, pastries, meats/cheeses, cereals etc. The bar was on the seventh floor of the hotel with magnificent views of the harbour. The hotel staff were very friendly and recommended a few restaurants and bars to sample. Try Giavani's italian restaurant in the alley behind the hotel - gorgeous food! All in all I would definately recommend this hotel and would definately make a return visit.
Just What Was Ordered.

This Hotel, where we stayed for one week was exceptional in its cleanliness and our room was excellent and exactly to our requirements. The Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfasts could not be bettered. The lack of English speaking television channels did not bother us as we were so conveniently situated for anything we wanted in Palma itself that we had little time for TV. We will return in 2006.
great location
from Lesley25
We came out to Palma for a short break & the hotel is only 15mins from the airport, a taxi journey of 15mins costing 15 euros. The location is excellent for a city break. Walking distance to the shops, Cathedral, sea and handy for the open top tourist bus stop. Our room was very clean & spacious and had a rooftop view of the cathedral. Numerous restaurants in the winding alleyways behind the hotel. (The alleys were busy so non threatening!) Check out the food at Minimal which is just up the road from the hotel entrance. The hotel has 2 tiny pools & sun bathing areas so you can combine a city break with some sunbathing. Only downside was the bar where service was lacklustre but there were plenty others in the centre of town & the minibar prices were good!
Worth splashing out on
from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the Saratoga for 8 nights at the beginning of September. We asked for (and got) a junior suite with sea view on a high floor. While it was pricey, it was worth splashing out on, as the sun shone on different parts of our L-shaped balcony at different times of the day. The rooms themselves were great - a small entrance hall, comfortable bathroom, large bedroom, and very comfortable sitting room. The hotel is much better placed for doing the city than others down the bay. All in all, we would highly recommend the Saratoga.
This is the second time staying there. Excellent service, clean and excellent breakfast. Situated in excellent location. Does not cater particularly for English speaking with television but that does not concern us. We have already reserved again in 2007 because of... more
